I stayed for two nights in February during my annual road trip - 40 nights and 11 properties this year, so this review is relatively objective. Easily found 12km south of Colesberg on the N1. I've driven past several times in the past and have always been intrigued by this seeming oasis in the middle of the Karoo. So glad...

A lovely, quiet, farm style place to rest ones tired body after a long drive up from Cape Town. The sunset washed away the blue sky as we stretched our legs around the farm and later the unblinking stars watched over our peaceful slumber, warmly ensconced in the preheated, snug stable.

We have been stopping at Kuilfontein for at least 25 years and in all that time the wonderful hospitality has never changed.. Penny, Lexi, Grant and Portia welcomed us again this year and we felt as if we had arrived home again at our little oasis In the Karoo. This year we had a guest from Philadelphia and one never...

A beautiful place perfectly situated near the N1. So Peaceful and relaxing. All the modern comforts you need. Really worth the visit. The meals made to order were delicious. Wish we could of stayed longer, as we were just stopping over. We will definately be back!

We (wife, 3-year old and 4 month old, 2 yorkies and a boerboel) staid at this venue on our way back from Cape St Francis on 04/03/2017 Firstly let me thank Evelin whom looked after all the guest and was a delight. Friendly, talkative, informative and made sure that every request was provided for. The venue is a old working...

Hi there Thank you for taking the time and writing such a detailed review on The Paddocks. I am glad that you enjoyed your time on our working farm and have taken cognisance of the thorns which have been dealt with, unfortunately animals also like the lovely green grass at the playground and bring these in. The Paddocks is advertised...

Kuilfontein Stable Cottages is an ideal stopover between the Johannesburg/Pretoria area - or even further north in South Africa - and the Cape. The place lies within view but out of sound of the N1, the main highway. There is little else to do. So it is a place for a one-night stand. The accommodation is in converted stables which...

Very clean and comfortable. Friendly family owners. Great history. The front desk chap by the name of "Last" was v good. The food didn't live up to the much touted standards (especially since it was lamb and in the Karoo!) otherwise wd have been 5 stars.

Utterly charming place - exceeded our expectations on every level. Lovely tranquil, rural setting. Loved the quirky aesthetic and the food was exceptional - venison pie was the best I've ever had - worth a trip to Colesberg alone. Hosts are warm and welcoming. Had a lovely walk around the farm finished off by a dip in the shady pool....
