I was here in the last weekend of March 2015.. basically returned today afternoon.. and here is the review..

Before I start on the place.. as we were driving towards it from Bang..crossed Mysore.. and we got call from the manager informing about the state bandh and KA vehicles are not being allowed to cross TN border. But he promptly also offered to postpone it :)
But after couple of calls.. we learned that the manager took the responsibility of picking us up. Yipee.. did not have to cancel the trip.
It was little time taking.. but that's very much understandable, as vehicles, pick up for all the guests was arranged at a short notice.
We reached at 3 pm.. checked in.

Rooms:
We booked jungle shack for day1 and treetop for day2.
So jungle shack is pretty nice, well maintained to a with mountain view. Super like. One can just sit out and enjoy some peaceful time.. like philosopher ;)
Treetop.. had been wantg to take treehouse since long.. but was booked :(
But.. the experience of treetop sufficed it.
It is a lovely cozy room, making one feel closer to the nature around. There are leaves right outside the window..and when all the windows are opened.. the cool air, view, sounds of birds chirping.. makes it all worth.

Food:
Excellent. They have nice variety and tastes pretty nice. Much better than all the other places I had been to. I liked the soups specially.

Staff:
Shibu, the Manager.. ensures its all a smooth ride for the guests. Friendly guy, attentive.. simply put thumps up for him :)

Siddharth, guide.. basically he would take the guests on safari and nature walks.
Extremely polite, spots birds, animals, tiger marks.. anything worth spotting quickly and gives details on it. He is enthu about wildlife and it shows in his attitude. We just mentioned him about forgetg to carry bino along with us the prev day.. and he remembered to share his with us.
He has much interesting info and stories to share. Experience at "In The Wild" would not have been so awesome without him. Double thumbsup to him.

We had forgotten our camera while switching rooms.. the staff found it and returned to us. That's honesty for you..

Thanks.. it was a lovely weekend time.

Highly recommended.

Thanks,
Priti & Suman

An Amazing piece of Property owned and supervised by Mr.Arun - (Wild Life photographer).

We accidently bumped into this resort when we were exploring the place around Masanagudi and heard about this at the Singara Post .

Here is a true confession we had a accomodation in Mansanagudi (Forest Dept) after seeing this place we vacated and moved into this place for one night.

Awesome and simply the best place ive ever been or seen in my life.

Rating :- 10/10

Excellent hospitality from the staff members..Very enterprising Manager - Arun Prasad.

Check this place out its amazing with wild life active all through out.

Caution :- The resort is located in the thickl dense forest and is highly infested with Bears ,Leapords and Elephants...Do not venture out alone or take a stroll around without resort staff around you especially after 6pm .

The Log tree house is the best one to stay as it is located right in the edge of the resort and opp to a lake were all animals are spotted during the night.

We stayed here twice in 2 years and we really liked it a lot! This is truly in the wild. Staying in the jungle with no fences so animals can get up close to the cabins. On the back side there are coffee tree plantations and the smell of the flowers is amazing. The butterflies thinks so too as we sooo many. :) Nature walk twice a day at sunrise and sunset, safari tours in jeep in the evenings. We saw Elephants, deer, peacocks, wild boar, gaur and many others. Highlight of course the elephants but also waking up to loud tiger roars at night! :D

This place was WOW and when I say place I mean location. It's in the middle of the jungle. So you can actually see animals grazing or just passing by. Seeing deer, wild boars, peacocks, sloth bears in their natural habitat was amazing( we didn’t see jungle cats or even the over abundant elephants). The food was well cooked and there was a lot of variety (chicken kebabs, fish fry, chicken gravy, panner,,,). We stayed in the tree house which was about 900 mts away from the resort and a little way out. Guests are not allowed to walk about after 6 pm and the resort jeep will pick you up for the safari and dinner. Guests are also not allowed to explore the property by themselves but need to have a guide/staff present. The resort has a few games like carom. There is also fishing, bird watching, early morning trekking/walking .... The highlight was our tree house balcony. It offered the best view of the entire property night and day. There was a little lake or sorts 100 mts away. Since we went early October we were treated to mist covered hills, so at about 8 pm the entire area in front of the tree house was covered in a white blanket of mist. Was eerie but awesome. The deer would come at the base of our tree house at night. About 100/200 of them. There was rain, thunder and lightening and since everything was open, the entire experience was spectacular. I loved the moonlight safari. The guide Sid was well informed. Was about a 45-minute drive every night between 7 and 8.

What I absolutely HATED about Inn the Wild.
We had taken snacks. Lots and Lots of snacks because lets face it the place is in the middle of nowhere. We were a family of three so the tree house was really small but so cosy and snug. The bathroom was also so cute. Since it had rained when we arrived at the property, we had mucked up our cottage a bit. So we asked someone to come and clean it. The someone came after a couple of hours. And cleaned only the tinsy tiny portions that were visible to the human eye. On the first night at 7pm we left for dinner and the safari. We got back at about 10. When I was just getting ready to jump into bed, I noticed that one of our biscuits packets had a big hole and there were crumbs all over the place. This totally freaked me out. Then I looked under the bed and it was filled with rat droppings, torn pieces of cloth and snacks from a bygone era. It was disgusting. We then heard scratchy noises from the roof. We realized there was a rat somewhere in or above our room. That explained all the holes filled with cloth all over the room. We then examined the mattress, we found that the rat and chewed up the foam as well. After a frantic call to the staff, they came and cleaned the room, and shoved fresh cloth in all the holes. We hid all our snacks in an overnight bag. There wasn't any cupboard or storage space. It was a very restless night for me as we could hear the rat running all over the place. Next day we went for breakfast, then returned to our room as the resort carpenter was coming to fix the place up. Day 2 went on waiting for the carpenter. Some people came with tools worked on I don't know what and then disappeared. We went for lunch, decided to explore the place a bit and then returned to our tree house. There were no visible signs of entry but when I picked up our overnight bag, the rat had chewed into it and attacked our snacks. After an angry call to the manager, he came to the room. We actually wanted to leave right away, but since it was festival season, everything was booked up all the way to Ooty. That’s when he told us that this cottage had a rat problem. It seems that guests were loosing their mobile phones and other items. I mean how could the resort rent out the room when it’s infested by a rat or rats? The resort was booked but they had one room where a guest was on the way. We hated the room as it didn't have a view and we had a common wall or should I say bamboo kind of wall with the next room. So we had to head back to our tree house. He gave us a wooden cabinet though. And this time we shoved everything inside. The carpenter came at 7 pm and did some patch work but we knew it wouldn't keep the rat outside. The last day of our stay we decided to go to Bandipur, when we came back 5 hours later, the invisible rat had taken a chunk out of my slippers and bitten into some very expensive moisturiser which we had to then throw out.
This really ruined our experience. The location was fabulous, the food good and staff at least some of them efficient but we just didn't have a good time. Who would? This wasn't the wildlife we had hoped to encounter. We heard other guests also complaining about rats and cockroaches. Not acceptable. When I booked online I booked accommodation for 3, but when I reached the resort, they said I had only made a booking for one. So I had to pay an additional 7 k but there was some 15% discount so I just had to pay 4k more. The resort manager waived the 4k off but that wasn't the point now was it? How can the resort just keep renting out a room that has a rat menace? Do some shoddy patchwork, stuff some cotton strips in holes? For those who think I am overreacting please look up leptospirosis, Salmonella, Rat-bite Fever, Tapeworms, Typhus…
This resort got such a high rating, that’s why I chose it.

To the management who owns the resort, you have very sincere staff and a beautiful property, why don’t you take better care of it? If you’ve received repeated complaints about rat and cockroach problems, why can’t you treat it as a priority and give it the attention it deserves? Close the tree house for a week/ month and ensure that you provide permanent fixes for these problems. Please don’t be so profit minded. People spend their hard earned money and plan their holidays in advance they deserve so much more than this.

This place is located in the core tiger area of bandipur-masinagudi forest, I didn't know this before we went and got to know from the staff. These kinda resorts spoil the flora and fauna of the forest because of lot of human disturbance and pollution to animals. If you are still keen in visiting please do not disturb animals and most importantly do not litter plastic, as it enters the food web.
The rooms are kinda clean and food is OK ok types. Nature walk is taken by one of the natureologists but be careful, make sure you can run. We had gone for nature walk in the evening somewhere in between an tusker came chasing us for a brief distance and the natureologist ran first without giving us instructions, can't forget the run. Night safari is useless.
Overall average place, but the prices are on higher side.

Dear Guest, Greetings from the Wildest Resort this side of the equator! Thank you for staying at Inn The Wild and for sparing your valuable time to share your feedback on Trip Advisor. We have noted your feedback regarding the resorts negative impact on the flora and fauna of the wildlife habitat and we are very sorry to know that we couldn’t impress you with our service & personal care, our strength lies in the happiness of people like you. The resort always keeps immense care regarding plastic littering as the resorts private land sits very next to the buffer zone of the Mudumalai Tiger reserve. We had taken your feedback positively, and will definitely take care of the points you mentioned on your feedback. Regarding the elephant chase during nature walk we will surely check with our naturalist on the same issue, but yes I do hope so that at your next visit you will be thrilled to see the changes out over here. Thanking you once again for choosing our resort for your holiday & looking forward to see you soon again at our resort

Attn : Management of InntheWild and LifeisOutside (Vipul Kasera)!

We visited InntheWild with my family, including a 2.5 year old, during the weekend holidays in the first week of Oct 2014. This place was recommended to us by LifeIsOutside.com as a good weekend getaway. We asked LifeIsOutside holiday advisor for a place suitable for families traveling with toddlers and they recommended this place! There were mostly positive reviews on TripAdvisor so we decided to go for it.

However, the whole holiday experience was a disaster and we checked out a day early even though we had paid for the entire stay in advance!

I do not recommend this place to anyone with kids or even for those without for that matter! We stayed in one of their Tribal Home. When we checked in, the place was very unclean with dirt, dust, lizard droppings everywhere. Despite our repeated requests, no housekeeping or cleaning was done during the two days and nights we stayed there. Trash was not taken out during our entire stay. Extra bed was a rickety old cot with a wafer-thin stinky mattress and an unwashed bedsheet. We asked repeatedly for extra towels but did not get it. Food is also very very average. It was mostly Indian fare and all dishes taste the same. They do not accommodate any additional food requests although we were told by LifeIsOutside that they do. We had to insist repeatedly for some kichdi(lentil/rice porridge) for our toddler and the dish that their kitchen made was very unpalatable. They do not even have fruits (no bananas???). They do not stick to their advertised timings for lunch and it was almost 2pm when the lunch buffet was fully stocked on the second day of our stay. They take a lot of time to restock their buffet. Their 'activities' are limited to a 'nature' walk around their site, 'fishing' in a man-made pond and a 'night safari (sic!)' where they drive you in an open jeep with a search light for 30 mins again on the same track as the nature walk.

InntheWild is very disorganised and staffed by non-professionals. I am surprised to see the largely positive reviews but this place seems to have become severely run-down in the last couple of years. This is certainly not in the same league as even the Karnataka state run Jungle Resorts let alone the other upmarket Orange Country or Serai in this area. There are other places that provide better home-stay/jungle-stay experience and value for money in this area!

We have also received less than satisfactory response from LifeIsOutside (Rs 2000/- gift voucher does not cut it when we paid 10K a night for the room) when we raised these issues with them after returning back from our trip. This is the second time that we have been let down by these folks (first was a trip to a home stay in Wayanad a couple of years back which was even more disastrous) and they would need to make a strong comeback to redeem themselves in our eyes!

Response from InnTheWild, Manager at InnTheWild
Responded Apr 4, 2015
Thank you for your comments. We appreciate your feedback and we do NOT agree with the comments about the child's food, etc. Our team spent a lot of time trying to make your family feel welcome and comfortable. Further as you can see from our latest reviews, the lapse in house keeping and cleanliness during your stay has been duly addressed. Further the following are comments from LifeIsOutside.com: LifeIsOutside as a platform curates getaways and experiences allowing a guest to pick and choose a getaway that works best for them. InnTheWild is an exciting experience and has been loved by all our customers who have visited the property ( Several of these customers incidentally have traveled with infants and kids ) When our team is asked for suggestions for a getaway, the suggestions are provided factoring in the preferences specified (Budget, availability , travel time, who the person is traveling with etc). Considering the guest's budget and dates, InnTheWild seemed to be a great fit amongst the available options. When visiting a jungle getaway set amidst the wilderness, however, expectations need to be calibrated accordingly. Our write up for InnTheWild manages these expectations fairly clearly. Despite that, we understand that the guest had a less than favorable experience which was shared with us only after the trip. The feedback was promptly shared with InnTheWild and the manager disputes a lot of the claims made by the guest. Nonetheless, we appreciate the feedback.

Firstly must say very hyped place nothing very great about. We were greeted by the staff who told us that we are in jungle so the rooms are not that great. Aggred that we are in jungle but also one would be in the room for sometime if not all the time. The room had cob webs allover, it was not cleaned properly. Curtains had all stains over it bed sheet was torn and bathroom was in pathetic condition. Food was not that great. Staff was ok. Was very disappointed with my stay at the property. Would not recommend for those guys who like clean and nice room. For jungle experience it was nice but once again I must say room is not in good condition. When I complained to the manager he just said its tree house. Will upload the pictures very soon of the torn bedsheet the stained curtains cob webs and dirty room and bathroom in pathetic condition.

We were a group of 11 couples & kids of around 32 praxs stayed in the resort for 3 nights from May 15th to May 18th . We had taken Tribal Homes, Jungle Shacks and Tree tops.
We have to park the cars in Singara Post and from there we have to go to the Resort in the Gypsy which belongs to the Resort. Its a 3 Kms Roller coaster Ride... Kids enjoyed the Roller coaster Ride a lot. Reached the Resort around 3pm and it was raining. There are no Boundaries in the resort. The staff was very co operative and welcomed us very well. They gave us the instructions, activities and do's and dont's in the resort as we where staying in the middle of the forest. Aircel, BSNL & Vodafone network are accessable there.... Airtel in bits and peaces .....
We went for the Night Safari with naturist Mr Siddarth, We could sight Flying Squirrel, Owl, Bats, Deers, Wild rabbit, Wild cat, gorus and many more. We woke up to see the Pea cocks in front of our rooms. Our Nature Walk started at 6.30am in the morning and we could sight lot of birds like King fisher, Wood Pecker, Night heroine, bul bul etc. Mr Siddarth is very knowledgable and passed on some great information about the Birds and animals. Food was above average . Overall we had a lovely time in the resort INN The WILD. Thanks to Mr Shibu and team and Mr Siddarth for making our stay even more memorable than the expected.

Tips :-
1) With kids go for either Jungle Shack or Tribal Homes otherwise go for Tree Top or Tree House.
2) Dont Expect 5* facilities. You have to make a mindset to enjoy the Nature.
3) Avoid wearing bright colour clothes , than you can spot lot of the Birds and Animals. Use colours which are dark and sober.
4) Dont miss the Nature Walks and Night Safaris as you never know when you will spot the Animals and birds. There are 2 Nature Walks and Night Safari in a day.

I visited this resort in the 3rd week of April and stayed for 2 nights. The place is very beautiful and scenic. THe moonlight safari and the nature walks was really very good, thanks to Mr. Siddharth. But there are certain things which we did not like. First of all, as said by a previous reviewer, the warmth and hospitality was missing. The manager looked disinterested to do his work. He kept saying that the resort was full, but we could hardly see any people there. The nature walk was included in the package, but the time told to us and the time the nature walks started were totally different. We were also not told as to how many nature walks and safari we can go on. Only later we came to know that we can go as to how many times we wanted to. It would be better if these things could have been informed earlier so we could plan our activity accordingly. Considering the location of the resort, the food was okay. The so called Bon fire and Barbeque that are mentioned in package actually never happened and they did not look interested to do the same either.

Inn the wild has great a great location and staff. The resort is deep into the jungle with no fencing around. Hearing the warning calls of langoors and finally hearing a tiger growl will definitely get you an adrenaline rush. Around evening, you can see herds of deer and elephants strolling around. The tree house is the best thing you can ask for :)

The staff is extremely courteous and friendly. One of the very few resorts where you feel at home. Definitely going back again.
