My husband and I reserved a river view room for one night. Beautiful view and great location for all our needs!
We were quickly dealt with at the desk by friendly and efficient staff.
Our room was on the 4th floor and spotless!
There was an outside bar beside tge river which was lovely. We plan to return in a few months. We are looking g forward to another lovely stay!

We have stayed at the CJ two times in the past. Then, it was a bit "tired" looking, and in need of updating. Still, the service was good, and the place was very clean.

When we returned this time, we found the same very clean lobby and restaurant/bar, but were pleased to find that we were in one of the rooms which had been renovated. This made for a much more modern feel to the place.

While the room did not meet the "luxury" hotel definition, it was spacious, and contained two (comfortable) queen beds, a desk and large LCD TV A comfortable club chair for sitting, and two straight-back chairs (for writing at the desk, etc.) It also had a coffee-maker, and small refrigerator. The bathroom was decent-sized, and nicely appointed with thirsty towels, a few toiletries, and modern sink, fixtures, and shower.

The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, as was the waitress (Diane) at the breakfast buffet. Breakfast buffet was included in our room price, and we were also given a 15% discount card for dinner in the hotel (either in the restaurant or bar).

Our room was on the second floor, facing the parking lot, but it was quiet, and also carefully lit (as in: we had no problem with any outside lighting filtering into the room at night.)

If you want a room with a view of the river, you'll need to ask for that.

There is also a small, outdoor patio in the back, with umbrella tables where you can enjoy drinks and snacks from the bar in nice weather, while viewing the river.

All in all, the CJ is a pleasant place to stay during a visit to Joliette.

Added as a P.S. : The hotel is a non-smoking one, but there are areas for smokers just outside the building, front and back, but far enough away from entrances so as not to offend non-smokers.

I stayed one night at Chateau Joliette. The room was clean and comfortable, with plenty of space. The shower was good and hot, and everything in the room was in good working condition. The front desk people were friendly and helpful, and spoke good English, thus saving themselves from listening to my terrible French.
There's plentiful parking, and the hotel is not far from lots of places to eat, etc. It's not a scenic or elegant hotel, but certainly an easy place to spend the night.
My only complaint: not enough outlets for charging devices. It would be good if they'd add a charger of the type that's on the base of a lamp, like lots of hotels have. Also, the curtains didn't quite close all the way, which was annoying--especially since this could be so easily remedied! I had hoped to sleep late on Saturday morning but the bright light woke me up at 6:00.

I have never written a review before but feel compelled to do so after such a horrible experience with this hotel. The only pro was the location since we were visiting for a wedding. There were many cons, but here are the top three...
1. THEY OVERBOOK ROOMS. They gave us keys when we checked in and to our surprise, we walked in and the room was already occupied!
2. THE SERVICE IS POOR. In response to the overbooking, the staff was not apologetic. Mistakes are understandable but the way they handled the situation was not. Adjustments were made, but only after a lot of back and forth.
3. THE WALLS ARE THIN. There were 2 or 3 other weddings/parties taking place at the hotel and you could hear (and feel) the music through the walls. Needless to say, we did not get a good night's rest because it was so loud. It didn't stop until 2 or 3 in the morning. In my opinion, this is completely unacceptable considering the noise is a result of parties the hotel hosts - not just a case of a few loud guests in an adjacent room.
In sum, I suggest finding another place to stay if you're in the area, especially if it's during a weekend!

This hotel is supposed to be 4 stars. I have no idea how they got this rating, at best it should be 2 stars.
When you first enter the hotel, you enter the lobby. To your left is a leather sofa, to your right the desert table for the buffet. The reception desk is in front of the buffet for the dining room which is in the back of the hotel. When between meal services, the food is covered by tablecloths... Not very appetizing. And it's the same food over and over.
Everything here is old and dated. 1990 tv, cracked tiles, no towel rack, mildew in the bathroom grout. There are no services here, no pool, no gym. The Wifi internet doesn't work at night (too many users at once) so I couldn't even work or Skype.
The conference rooms are dark and dingy with a view of the parking and there are stains everywhere. The walls are gross, the carpet too. The floors are overused and stripped. Seriously, if you have to use a hotel for a conference, might as well stay in Montreal, pay a tad more but get a much better experience.

We recently stopped here for 1 night on our way to Quebec city. We were quite surprise on how nice, clean, and quiet this hotel was. The staff were very friendly. Spoke to me in English although I wanted to practice my limited French. There is a river next to the hotel which adds to the beautiful view. The free breakfast was a plus. Will love to stay here again if we past here next time. It beats staying in the busy Montreal area.

I stayed and reviewed this hotel in 2014 as average.
Since then, I stayed in September 2015 and have noticed a significant improvement.
Renovations are fresh - you can still smell the paint! I would recommend this hotel for stays in this area.

-Refreshed common areas
-Helpful staff
-Renovated rooms including bathrooms and room furniture
-Clean and spacious rooms
-Comfortable beds
-Free WiFi and breakfast included
-Free parking
-Located within a short walk to Joliette restaurants and bars
-Small refrigerators in rooms

I did not try the breakfast but it is included.

Tip: If possible, upgrade to the room with a view.

I liked:
- large windows everywhere and bright room;
- bathroom newly updated with a therapeutic bath;
- lot of space in the room;
- the restaurant was better than expected (7/10)
- view, at the restaurant, was breathtaking;
I didn't like:
- no place to plug my laptop or my iPhone unless I moved some furniture;
- lights in my room were too white, giving the place a medical clinic feel;
- carpet was dirty;
- only one small, old and slow elevator;
- no automatic door at entrance;
- badly need some renovations;

I've stayed in a lot of hotels for business and pleasure. I've never stayed in one that doubles as a club on the weekends. I'm writing this review at 2.15am while listening to booming bass on the 3rd floor. Do not stay here if you want to get a good night's sleep.
When I complained, the staff member told me to wait until 2.30am, when they shut the music off.
Totally unacceptable.

Nice hotel with a great view of the river, and the town of Joliette. My room was very clean and modern. The staff was helpful, and I found Cassandra especially accommodating. Mine was a quick one night stay, but I could see me returning with my wife for a longer visit.
