We stayed at the Kingfisher just one night. The room was very comfortable and clean and the owner was helpful and attentive within the parameters of the services offered. The breakfast was very good and certainly set us up for the day. But the bar was deathly quiet and the time window for evening dinner was restrictively short. If you...

Dear Traveller 5662 We are sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations regarding atmosphere. The bar is predominantly used by residents, so I understand that perhaps it may be too quiet for some. We would not class ourselves as pub...we are closer in definition to a small guest house / hotel. There is a traditional village pub...

This is a guest house not a pub with rooms. Food was great - cooked by the owning couple. Friendly understated welcome. Comfortable room with some nice finishing touches e.g. foam bath. Decent prices I thought. Perfect for a weary traveller.

I recently had two nights at the Kingfisher Inn Hotel whilst on business in the area. A warm welcome was received on arrival. The room was spacious, clean and warm with a very clean en-suite. This is a quiet place with a small number of rooms. Eating is restricted to residents. The menu is select as would be expected for...

We moored up at the bridge and walked up the hill to the Kingfisher. It is marked in the guide as a good place to eat and indeed many reviews here are positive. I have to say that, at 5pm on that Monday afternoon it appeared very derelict and we came to the conclusion that business has finished here. I...

Hello Geoff H Sorry that we were not available when you walked up from the river. Due to a bereavement we were closed for several months. We are currently operating as guest house / small hotel with restaurant service to residents, our opening hours are aligned with check-in. I hope you enjoyed this stretch of the Thames. Best regards Alexis

We were booked to have dinner at Le Manoir Aux Quatres Saisons and were staying overnight at the Kingfisher which we found very good clean ,well appointed and lovely breakfast .The owner Alexis had booked a taxi for us to get to the restaurant which did not turn up he then took us himself to the restaurant which we think...

Booked in here as the first choice hotel had a problem with hot water, I was very pleasantly surprised and will certainly stay again when in the area. The bar area looks a little sparse, but warm and very friendly staff made all the difference. Bedrooms are clean and well-appointed for a pub with rooms. They would certainly benefit from...

We had a delightful stay and the food was outstanding. The owners could not do enough to make our stay as relaxing and comfortable as is possible! The evening supper offers amazing value and a wide choice of tasty dishes to choose from, the tai chicken was our favourite!

Stay for one night as our friend lives in near by Benson but didn't have room to put us all up. Another friend booked the rooms and she was impressed to receive a call in the week before our stay to find out our estimated arrival time. When she said we planned to arrive about 12 noon due to meet...

I walked the length of the Thames Path and this was THE best-placed B&B I stayed in along the whole route ... it's not just on the route, the pub is even used as a landmark in the official walk guide. It's an oasis inside. The owner or manager, knowing I was walking, made sure I was in a room...

We stopped at the Kingfisher for one night as it is on the Thames path, which we are completing in stages. We had a very warm welcome from Alexis who looked after us well. He even booked us a table at the six bells pub on the green in Shillingford. After a good night's sleep we had a lovely breakfast....
