The Catalina is a good choice for travelers seeking romance, relaxation and good entertainment at night. we went for only two nights and we were amazed at how big and luxurious, the main house is decorated in different types of wood with a restaurant and cozy bar. From our room we could see all the lights in the central valley...

La Catalina Hotel and Suites Costa Rica is situated in the mountain area, on 6 acres of lush, green, tropical land, with coffee and banana plantations on either side. There are many outbuildings for your privacy and seclusion, two pools, a hot tub, tennis court, spa and much more. From the veranda of the stately main building you look out...

http://www.hoteldesirecostarica.com/ These 2 hotels are the same place. I give this place a poor rating for lack of transparency. I didn't know from these reviews or from the external site I used to book the accommodation. "A clothing-optional resort for open minded people" is the sort of thing you need to know before you book. As others have said, this...

We are sorry if the guest believes that we are responsible for the lack of transparency. This alleged lack of transparency is not because of us.If we could find out how the guest booked their room with us,then we could investigate whom is misleading. But we can not find any record of this guest staying with us in May,2011. Several years ago...

Secluded getaway with excellent views close to the airport but totally out of the way. Don't rely on GPS to get you there, follow the signs to Birri and La Catalina or use their shuttle or a taxi but its better if you have your own transportation. They would deserve an excellent review but for a few deficiencies. The hot...

My family and I stayed at La Catalina Hotel in the 2-bedroom, 1 bath apartment. The rooms were clean and the beds in the bedrooms were comfortable. (The pull out couch bed was not that comfortable though.) ALL of the staff were VERY friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept. At night, the sounds of the birds, frogs,...

My friends and I took a trip to San Jose and after reading some of the reviews and recommendations online we decided to book this hotel for a weekend. We booked directly with them, everything went smooth since the beginning and the people at the hotel were helpful throughout the whole process. He had a romantic getaway with my boyfriend, we stayed here for 1 night. Since we are locals it was not really hard to get there by bus even being this the first time we were on this town, the only thing was that we had to take a "pirata" in Birri since there are no official taxis and this...

Two nights ago, we took the long, difficult drive to find this isolated hotel. After reading the reviews, I was absolutely flabbergasted to find this broken down, nearly deserted hotel at the end of the long difficult journey. The hotel was in such a state of disrepair, it looked like it was nearly abandoned. We were sent to a "room"...

We are an adult only hotel for those 18 years or older. When this guest booked his accommodations for 1 night,he did it all through an outside web site including his 1 night payment. This guest stated he was the only one staying and made no mention of his wife and kids. The guest is correct that the first key given to him...

LaCatalina Hotel and Suites is a magical place, an intimate boutique hotel set in the lush highlands of the San Jose valley about 20 minutes from the airport. From this vantage point you can see the lights of San Jose, the volcanoes in the mountains and a sliver of the ocean. The hotel itself is set amongst 6 or so...
