The GRAND ASTON Cayo Las Brujas Beach Resort & Spa's cleanliness receives accolades, with guests highlighting well-kept rooms and public areas, though towel availability has been a concern for some. Opinions on value are mixed, with a number of guests feeling let down by the cost in relation to the food quality and staff interactions. Service experiences vary, ranging from commendable attentiveness to instances of unprofessionalism. The resort's atmosphere is dynamic, characterized by energetic music and entertainment, which may not suit those seeking tranquility. Its location is generally praised for easy access to both pool and beach, and while the amenities are appreciated, particularly the pristine beaches, some guests desire more nightlife options and better towel service. Room experiences are inconsistent, with comfort and cleanliness noted, but also issues with allocation and upkeep.

We just spent two weeks at this resort and upgraded from the starfish Cayo Santa Maria. This place was excellent we stayed in building number 5. there were many things to do here including snorkeling off the small beach near building 5 and spearfishing. also going to the main Beach and going out on the catamaran and fishing off the back of that which was very exciting. The nightly entertainment was top-notch I would highly recommend the Michael Jackson show you won't be disappointed it's really him. For kids it was excellent the pools were perfect, as was the staff at the bar poolside and the waiter named Rider who always kept our cups full. costaff I encountered at every location was always top notch friendly and always willing to help including at the customer service booth. The food was great compared to the resort we laughed, always something to choose from and expectedly not as good as Dominican or Mexico, but this is Cuba. Beach was great for long walks around its crescent shape and the water is very safe here for children as it is protected Bay. our room was very modern and the air conditioning works great and our ocean view was spectacular. Alejandro who is in charge of the resort as a general manager was extremely willing to hear some of our suggestions for minor improvements and was very happy for our feedback. yes they did allow over 200 local Cubans to come into the resort on Valentine's Day. we were informed that this will never happen again as they did take over the resort, for very loud and boisterous, and ate and talked huge amounts of food which was always wasted and left on their tables. They did become very crazy in the pool, luckily this only lasted for two days and we were informed it will never happen again as it was in the contract to do so one time only. if we were to go back to Cuba as this was our sixth time I would no problem kobach to the Grand Aston.

This hotel is beautiful . It’s spotless, the service was outstanding for the most part. Yes there were some shortages but it’s Cuba! Always something else to order or drink. Myself and 3 friends travelled together. We all stayed on the adult side so I cannot comment about the family side . We had our own pool with plenty of chairs, our own bar and restaurant. We stayed in building 12. Even 1st floor no bugs crawling in as they built the hotel on cement pillars so we weren’t flush with the land. Yes there are mosquitoes - it’s the Caribbean . They do however fog daily . I
Personally didn’t get but once. Plenty of towels in the room and the maids were fantastic! My room was cleaned daily to perfection. We did the sunset catamaran tour with a lobster dinner and it was well worth the 80 we paid ( canadian ). Special shout out to Emilio at the bar and Javier Gonzalez who went above and beyond. He has an amazing personality and I think he will go far with his dedication and happy demeanour . There is a plaza next door with great pizza as well as the spa and a few stores . There is a bank there as well with a better rate than the hotel bank. The hotel bank had a gentleman working there that was on the phone when I went in for some small bills and coins which he totally denied me more than 2 coins and was very rude. That was my only beef with any of the employees. I’ve seen better beaches but it was still nice and water shoes are definitely NOT needed..... I walked all the way to the resort at the point ( villa las brujas) and did not wear shoes. Was fine! The buffet had lots of choices , food could at times be hotter but that’s standard for a lot of buffets. It is what it is..... anyone has any questions i would be happy to answer them! If you go please tell Javier his friends from Windsor Sylvia , Edith , Peggy and Mike say hello!

This was our second time back to this resort. First time we stayed in the family area (building 5), this time we brought our 2 daughters aged 19 and 21 and we stayed in the Adult Only section (building 12) and it was excellent. Nice and close to the beach, quiet pool time, a la carte restaurant and a free day at the new spa.

The rooms were clean and we had clean towels every day. We didn’t get the bottle of champagne when we arrived, but that was no issue for me. I’m not a drinker.

If you want a more upbeat time you can head to the beach and the entertainment staff are there to offer an awesome time with dance lessons, aqua aerobics and games.

My 19 year old has celiac and the chef at the adult only section made her a special meal every night. The staff there, Heidi and Melenos are fantastic as well. The food is a bit bland but excellent for Cuba. You would not starve! I had the Lobster Pasta three nights in a row and my husband had the beef twice. I will say that the Caesar salad dressing was the best I have had in my life. Loads of fresh garlic in it!

The beach is in a bit of a cove so the water is calm and crystal clear. Snorkelling is great and there are lots of cool fish to see. Saw a Baracuda as well.

We took the Catamaran cruise and it was excellent, aside from the 1 hr of beach time (brought us back to the end of our beach so it wasn’t exciting). We snorkelled for an hr and interacted with a dolphin, had an excellent lunch then saw a dolphin show. I was impressed that the dolphins are kept in the ocean water where fish etc swim with them in their natural habitat. The tanks are huge and once the people leave, all doors are opened and the dolphins swim together in a huge area.

*NOTE- if you don’t want to see the dolphin part, Air Canada Vacations is the only one who offers that. All others take you to the aquarium.

All in all, it was a great experience and we will go back!

Grand Aston is the best resort we have ever been to after 5 times visiting Cuba once getting married in Cayo Coco , Grand Aston is the best so far , staff can’t do enough for you and so friendly, they treat you like family. Nightly entertainment fantastic my son in his 20s had an amazing time there also. The shows on the main stage were great exciting, and funny. The food was also delicious, the snack bar was fast making the food and staff there was so friendly. The grounds were so well kept by the gardeners , I sincerely recommend this resort to older people as well as younger people. You will have an amazing time and a shout out to Liset at the front desk she was so nice to us and of course Metz he made sure we were well taken care of. And you betcha we are coming back.

My family and I spent the most perfect 10 days at the Grand Aston. From the moment we stepped off the bus, we felt like royalty. Check in process was quick and easy, we got into our room very quick.
Room was super clean and the kids were always excited to see what Sergio and Melisa had made with our towels.
The grounds and pools were immaculate at all times, there were always chairs available and there was always someone walking around checking on drink levels. Beach was great! Nice and calm for the kids, as it's in a bay, but my husband found some great snorkeling areas just around the bend from the beach.
Food was fantastic, always lots to choose from, and replenished quickly.
There was always fun music and entertainment around the pool or at the beach.
I can't even begin to describe the staff at this resort. Everyone we came across, from the gardeners to bartenders, were courteous, polite, helpful and always wore a smile.
Our friends Papi, Enrique and Leidy down at the snack bar were fantastic! The best mojitos I have ever had were made by these guys! Rosemay, lilyani and lanai (excuse the spelling) up in the dining hall always greeted us with smiles and top notch service.
We have been to cuba in the past, and this place by far blew us away.
Can't wait to go back and visit all of our friends!

Our family of 4 (2 teenagers) have just returned home from a beautiful week at Grand Aston. Here is a quick summary:
Food: best we have had in Cuba, this being our 9th trip. They did not always have everything available, but there was always something and it tasted good! You need to be prepared for a little flexibility. We ate at the Seafood, French and Cuban a la cartes. They were all good and Cuban was the family favorite.
Rooms: fantastic- clean and very comfortable. We stayed in building 3 which was a perfect location to the main hub (lobby, restaurants, pool).
Staff: Amazing!
Beach: Honestly, the beach was not quite what we were expecting but it quickly grew on us. We chose Las Brujas because it is a bay and we wanted warmth and to be out of the wind. However, it does give the appearance of mostly being surrounded by land. It is great for long walks, kayaking, water sports, snorkeling.
The beach is a 5-minute walk from the main lobby and there are carts often running back and forth to offer a ride to those that want it. The adult section is closest to the beach.
I would suggest the resort consider opening an additional daytime location for food (maybe close to the beach or use the Ranchon Playa) just to facilitate access to food for those wanting to maximize beach time, and maybe even opening up a little ice cream parlor as many other resorts have done.

We took our two daughters ages 6 and 11 for a week long vacation. The resort was a beautiful place, and well designed. We were on the first floor of Block 4, which was steps away from the poolside bar, and the pools. The room was very clean, the beds (doubles, not queens) were comfortable, and there was a ceiling fan as well for air circulation.
There was amazing trails to explore close to the ocean coast, and great walking paths throughout the resort. The kids enjoyed the pools, and the beach. Be sure to pack swim shoes, as the sand and beach have many broken shells, so you are at risk of a cut if you step on one.
The entertainment was great in the evenings, and the dancers were amazing!
The Kids Club offered supervision, and even had a room with Nintendo Switch and many games for the kids. The workers were kind, and they also did a kids "Mini Disco" in the evening prior to the main entertainment.
The food was plentiful and the servers were very kind, and attentive to serve drinks and get you what you needed.
Bring your own snacks if you want such as potato chips, choclate bars, nuts, pretzels etc. as they do not have any for sale if you want to snack.
They have a bank on site to exchange your currency, so you can have currency for tipping, and buying a few souvenirs if wanted.
There was plenty of filtered water and ice available at the bars.
We thank the people working at the resort who made it such a great experience!

We both arrived after 10pm on a Monday night, we were greeted by friendly front staff and a Bellman who had us checked in within 15min. We were given the room we asked for, King Ocean View. The bellman drove us to the room, carried our luggage up to the 3rd floor, and noted our fridge was not stocked, so he left to get all our drinks...fabulous service.

We were at the hotel for 2 weeks, the hotel and restaurant were always clean and organized, the aLa Carte (French, Asian) had awesome food, the seafood one was a bit of disappointment, and we did not get to visit the Italian, but heard it was also very good. The grounds of the hotel were fantastic, and kept up daily with all the great gardeners who made you flowers and animals out of leaves. They also made you a coconut milk drink if you liked. Even visiting the gym, the gentlemen there was always friendly and helpful with all equipment and towels or water during your time there.

All in all, we would book there again, we had a great time and very pleased with the great service we experienced, below we just want to acknowledge a few 5 star servers:
Our chamber maid Yisel, was great, the room was always spotless and decorated daily for us...Thanks again Yisel.
Fry Cooks in Buffet: Marcia & Dennis, were friendly and willing to cook to our delight
Buffet Servers, they all were friendly and attentive, some to name a few Lenny, Edgar, Asiez, Almeda & Lianny, fantastic service.
Lobby Bar and servers were always friendly and made our stay there a highlight, thanks to Yenny, Lisandra.

Hope you too see you all again really soon
Thanks
Denise & Glenda

I travelled with my hubby, and it was the first time in Cuba for the both of us. That being said, I read ahead of time about Cuba as I wasn't sure what to expect and like usual, everyone has their own opinion. Most saying not to go with high expectations. I am more than pleased with choosing this resort for our first time in Cuba. There was more than enough food selection, the staff were ++ and very helpful. The lobby at night sells cuban cigars, and a gentlemen playing saxophone (not only Cuban music). The lobby is very welcoming and open. If you've seen the map, don't let it fool you, it seems a little confusing or like the beach is a little of a distance but it is not. Unfortunately we spent more time doing excursions than what we spent on the beach, but the time we did spend at the beach wss beautiful. Out first day, we spent at the beach and upon going in the water was a barracuda swimming in the shallow water. The water was nice and refreshing and clear. The beach was beautiful in my opinion, full of seashells and you can walk for miles. The nautical point was also a beautiful view. We purchased for extra, a private dinner at the gazebo, which was very romantic. We had a private waiter who was so kind and patient. We got to sip our wine and eat our dinner watching the sunset and listening to the waves crashing under us. The rooms were beautiful, and I absolutely loved the rainfall showerhead. Beds were comfy and plenty of room to move around. Our fridge was restocked daily, and we absolutely loved the gentlemen who was in charge of restocking. The mornings are beautiful as you hear the birds echoing through the hall outside the room, and when sitting out on the deck in the mornings it is very quiet. The gardeners are out tending to their business and very friendly. Before travelling, I read a lot about the bugs and came prepared. But our entire stay we didn't see any, the staff fumigate around the resort 2-3 times a night, which kept the bugs away. Unfortunately we didn't get to attend any of the night shows so I can't comment on that. Every morning before leaving the room, we always left the maids a tip, along with extra stuff we brought from home. The adult section is very quiet (which is where we stayed), but we spent our time on the family side. The main pool has entertainment whether it be exercises, music or games in the pool. They have several pools on the family side. And I recommend the burger and fries at the snack bar. It was my favorite meal there. I am absolutely pleased with our stay and will definitely be coming back again.

The customer service is terrible. They provide you with room of lower quality than one you paid for, so you have to show them proof to get it. A fridge in a room was never filled and to get it done you have to call customer services more than a couple of times. They will not tell you that you have free wi-fi unless you ask about it. Do not be surprised if someone shows at your room door to fix your safe you never requested. (??) If you ask for late check out, they will charge you, but this doesn't apply to all customers. To get someone to pick you up and your language to take to the lobby takes 30 minutes, and if you do not catch one those passing by vehicles, you might be late for the bus to take you to the airport. ;( That was my fourth vacation in Cuba and never had experience like this. A pool in recently renovated area with pictures everywhere is there to watch, not to use. It is closed. To get someone to provide you with clean beach towels sometimes you have to wait even 20 minutes. But, the beach is in a bay and it is amazing. Even when it was a bit windy around, there were no big waves in the bay.

Yes, but they don't really reinforce or intervene. I stayed at the Fiesta section & yet, others from the other sections was coming to our building. It was others guests staying that reminded them that this section is only for the Fiesta guests (we wore different bracelets) not security saying so. Security is present, but not sure if anything happens, if they would be useful.
