Very nice meal served on a plate in the separate dining room. Cooked perfectly. There is nothing flash or modern about this place with old tables that wobble...just old fashioned service. A wonderful location just across from the water. Would have loved to have had a beer in the bar. This is a very special part of Northland and well... More

This hotel still has the old pub feel, with friendly locals and staff. If you enjoy a bet on the horses or a stint on the pokies your catered for here. Large selection of beers and food available. The garden bar is situated to take in the harbour views. An enjoyable place to unwind.

This pub is situated across the road from the water so you can sit inside or outside and enjoy the view. Good selection of beers etc, TAB facilities available, and decent size pokie room if this interests you. Has a old pub feel with a steady stream of local characters calling in to quench their thirst. Well worth a visit.

15 of us visited the pub and had several drinks and lovely fish and chips. The children were entertained by the bird, Barney, they had fun talking to him and watching his tricks. We will definitely be back.

We didn't stay here. However, purchased fish and chips from the establishment. It was am definitely a throw back. Not a bad thing as places like that are becoming extinct. The food was good and obviously popular with the steady stream of customers. We are inside in a sort of 50's room. However, there was the option to also eat... More

This is the most northern hotel in New Zealand and it is a lovely little pub with great friendly service. We came here most afternoons whilst in the area for a couple of drinks and found the staff and some of the locals to be extremely friendly. The drink prices are cheaper than most other places we visited in the... More

I took my family for a trip in Northland, NZ. We decided to have a drink at the Mangonui Hotel. It was very pleasant and the bar staff very Kiwi, funny, and helpful. Beer and wine good and we enjoyed feeding the bird chips. My 83 year old mother told me it was her first ever time in a pub... More

The Mangonui Hotel is old and looks a bit worn out, but it is full of character and very friendly. A bit like Paddy who runs it. The front of the balconied hotel faces across the beautiful Mangonui inlet from Doubtless Bay. Parking is no problem facing the hotel. Do not back into Paddy's shiny Triumph Thunderbird 1600. Paddy is... More
