We stayed for 3 nights at Castello di Monterado while travelling through Italy by train. The castle is set in beautiful countryside, and the views from its windows and garden are superb. The rooms are exquisitely decorated and furnished with tasteful antique charm, yet the mod cons one expects were there too. Kira and Orlando who run the place are...

The Castello was the unforgettable and beautiful setting for our wedding. Words can't express what a magical weekend we had staying here with our friends and family to celebrate our wedding. The rooms are beautifully decorated with breathtaking views across the surrounding countryside. The top floor apartments have been renovated with such sympathy to the history of the Castello while...

I chose to get married at the Castello di Monterado, and it was one of the best choices I could have made. It goes without saying that the physical venue is breathtakingly beautiful, being a castle built in 1732. It still houses many original antiques, and has been cared for and renovated with great sympathy and excellent personal taste. The...

I recently stayed at the Castello di Monterado for 2 days for my brother's wedding, which was held on Saturday the 17th September. It was a perfect wedding and a fantastic location. The Castello di Monterado is simply outstanding. Our room was on the top floor and had fantastic views of the valley and mountains. It was a spacious room...

Beautiful surroundings, wonderful hosts, delicious breakfast and spacious beautiful rooms, full of character. We loved every minute of our stay here. There was every modern facility, a safe, fridge, lift, air conditioning and lots of genuine 400 year old charm

and thoroughly recommended. We live in an old stone house in Wales and take an almost professional interest in other old houses. This one has been beautifully and sensitively restored with much thought given to the comfort of guests. No evening meal available but there is a restaurant (very pleasant) only a couple of minutes walk away but a very...

There is something so particularly memorable about Monterado. The combination of beauty, luxury, comfort, and yet informality brings us back every year. There really is no place that I would rather spend a summer weeks or two.

...one of their apartments situated in the small piazza beside the castle...modern and clean rooms, wi-fi, tv, washing machine, free parking, but no elevator and no terrace/balcony (that's why a 4 not a 5)...still we're very pleased of our one-week stay...the calm, the nice surroundings, the garden, the pool, the service...all worked perfect...we'll be back!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hospitality is a tradition in our family, which we are eager to continue and share with others. We have therefore decided to open up our home to guests. The castle has a long history. Prince Maximilian de Beauharnais, nephew of Giuseppina Bonaparte, wife of Napoleon I, chose to spend here his honeymoon after marrying the daughter of Tsar Alexander of Russia. From here you can enjoy a stunning view of the sea, the mountains and the gentle hills. At disposal of our guests wonderful gardens, a big park and the swimming pool, 8 new superior rooms, 4 frescoed suites and 6 bright, modern apartments with fully equipped kitchen.Every morning a rich buffet breakfast with local fresh products. We look forward to welcoming you into the peaceful and authentic traditional atmosphere of the Marche country life. We are strongly attached to our castle, the nearby hamlet and its surrounding countryside. It is a true pleasure for us to greet you to spend some time in our family home for an unforgettable holiday. ... more   less
