The Okura Tokyo emerges as a beacon of luxury, with guests consistently lauding its sophisticated atmosphere and top-notch amenities. The spacious and tech-savvy rooms with their stunning views are a hit among travelers, as is the serene spa. Although some may find its location a tad unexciting, the easy access to metro lines and attractions offsets this minor drawback.
Impeccable service adds to the hotel's charm, despite a hefty price tag that underscores its premium offerings. Cleanliness and understated elegance are hallmarks here, earning the property high marks in guest reviews.

We stayed four nights at the Okura and three nights at another 5-star hotel and I wish we had all seven at the Okura. The service was exceptional. I think it was the best service I've ever received in any hotel in the world. We arrived and an army of staff took our bags from the car. We were shown to our rooms which were enormous by Tokyo standards (or really any standard) and there is staff all over the hotel who just want you to feel comfortable and welcome. The Concierge team was of great help to me before we arrived and while there. The breakfast buffet is large and will cater to a number of tastes - even picky Western children will find a few things to eat in the morning. One evening we used the pool which is large with lots of places to lounge and relax. Cabs were readily available outside. We did not take the subway because cabs were so easy to pickup. The room provided everything we needed - toothbrushes, shaving cream, combs, etc. If we used anything it was immediately replenished the next day. The lobby staff are so well trained. They made us so comfortable each time we walked through. We loved the takeaway food right outside of the breakfast restaurant and found it much more appealing to eat on the train than the options at Tokyo Station outside the Shinkansen. I truly struggle to find fault with this hotel. Everything was so perfect. The most I could come up with is that you have to get up and your own glass of water at breakfast, the staff only brought us coffee. Really, that was the only thing I would change! I can not wait to return to Tokyo and stay here again. Truly a pleasure. We were in the Prestige tower and on the 32nd floor I believe.

Our first stay since the hotel was completely rebuilt, yet they managed that a former guest still recognizes the famous, timeless lobby or other details. We were very pleased with our corner king room, granting a splendid view over Tokyo, including from the bathtub. I must say that the room is one of the most thorough designs I have encountered: silent (almost impossible to hear the A/C, no humming from anything, no footsteps from the room above), completely dark if you want it (and no lights from any machinery, exit lights etc.) and it feels spacious. However, none of the typical “business traveller utensils” are there: no shoeshine, no Iron etc., but staff can, of course, arrange everything (at a cost).
Speaking of which: It is a (very) traditional 5* luxury hotel, meaning almost everything else you touch costs extra, hence my rating of 4 points. I prefer the concept that some basics are just included when I pay a high nightly rate in the range of JPY 150’000 and find it outright ridiculous to pay another 500 Yen for a bottle of juice out of the small in-room fridge, which contains not much more than a couple of beers – have it either included in the rate, or provide a real, well stocked in-room bar. Of course, room service can send me a bottle of sake, or even a cocktail from the bar, but you get the idea…
Some of the other reviews state that westerners are not very welcome here: I couldn’t feel anything such! But if you think 1000 Dollars a night entitles you to e.g., wander around in your pyjamas, have a loud telephone conversation in the restaurant or simply forget looking after your children, then this place is not for you, as it enforces a certain etiquette. However, if you enjoy the Japanese culture, you will feel very welcome at the Okura and its flawless service.

During my stay at The Okura Tokyo in January 2024, booked through Amex FHR, Check-in was smooth, and we were upgraded to a slightly larger room, although not a suite or much larger room. The room has a sense of calm and sophistication, with tasteful decor and all the amenities one could desire for a comfortable stay.
We have $100 hotel credit provided through Amex FHR, which we decided to use towards dinner at Orchid on the first floor.
The free breakfast included in FHR is good. The free breakfast is also located in Orchid.
In addition to Orchid, The Okura Tokyo boasts several other restaurants within the hotel premises. These include: 1. Yamazato: Located on the 28th floor, Yamazato offers authentic Japanese cuisine with panoramic views of the city. 2. Sazanka: Known for its traditional Teppanyaki dining experience, Sazanka provides a unique culinary journey. 3. Toh-Ka-Lin: This Chinese restaurant serves delectable Cantonese cuisine in a refined setting.
While the hotel offers a variety of dining options, it's difficult to get a table if you didn't make a reservation in advance.
However, it's worth noting that The Okura Tokyo's location may not suit everyone's preferences. While the hotel offers a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city, but for those craving the energy and excitement of the city streets right at their doorstep, other options may better suit their preferences.

The Okura is definitely one to stay at if you want to go all out on the hotel experience.
The staff were very friendly and helped us with our luggage since we arrived before check in time.
The room was very nice a spacious, we were able to fit our luggage into the wardrobe when we weren't using them and still had ample room to move about when we had them out. The bathroom is split, with the shower and bathtub separated by a glass door from the sink and toilet.
I would say the only downside is the location. Since the hotel is uphill, rolling luggage from the train station to the hotel can be a hassle, so it is probably best to take a taxi (although I think most people who stay here have their own drivers or take taxis regardless). We would take the Tameike-sanno station which isn't far, and services the Ginza and Namboku line.
Overall, we had an amazing time here but might not stay here (maybe only on special occasions).

I was invited to a meeting held at the hotel's banquet hall, so I attended. The other party paid for my travel and accommodation expenses, so I honestly don't know how much they were. This time I stayed in the annex called the Heritage Wing. It's hard to find the way from the lobby to the elevator hall if you're new to it. A hotel staff member guided me. To enter the hall, you first hold your card-type room key over the sensor at the entrance, and the automatic door will open and you can enter. The elevator itself doesn't require you to press the floor number, but instead automatically guides you to the desired floor when you hold your room key over the sensor. It was a corner room called Room 809, but it was quite spacious. There was a sofa and a table in the room with a double bed, but it was still spacious enough. You can turn on and off the lights in the room and open and close the window screens with the dedicated tablet placed next to the bed. There is also a Bose speaker, and if you connect it via Bluetooth, you can play your favorite music on your smartphone. In addition to the regular bathtub, the bath also had a steam sauna. There was also a jacuzzi with bubbles coming out from the bottom, which was relaxing. For dinner, I ordered a clubhouse sandwich (3,900 yen) from room service, which was quite delicious. When I woke up in the morning and opened the screen, I could see the US Embassy below me.

A hotel with the best in everything This newly built hotel has a traditional old atmosphere at the front desk, but the rooms have been completely changed. The walls are wood grain and white. It has a calm atmosphere. It is not as heavy as the Ritz. It is a card-operated elevator. You can control the curtains, lighting, and air conditioning with an i-pad. The hospitality is the best and I feel that it is better than Conrad and The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho. You can see Tokyo Tower🗼 and Skytree. From the bathroom, you can see Roppongi to the airport below, and you can enjoy an extraordinary space. There is a TV in the bath. There is no jacuzzi. There is no old vertical shower in the shower. There are plenty of amenities, and of course there are bathrobes. The size of the rooms is a little narrower than the junior suites of other hotels, but it is spacious enough. The bathroom and toilet are completely separate, but the flow of traffic to the bedroom and other areas is considered. There is no wine or mini bottle whiskey in the minibar, but there is a wine opener. There is Nespresso coffee and plenty of tea bags. The gym and pool are free for guests. The view is so amazing that you won't get bored even if you look outside. The Orchid breakfast buffet was good quality, but there wasn't much Japanese food, so if you want Japanese food, you'd be better off going to Yamazato. It's not a buffet with everything like the New Otani.

We have been guests at the Okura for almost 20 years. It was always a landmark and the service was warm, efficient, professional. After the full renovation and the completion of the Prestige Tower they have reached a new level. The renovation has respected the simple, elegant, discrete and quant luxurious style and its 60s touch. The hotel is very big but you don’t feel the crowds except for the taxi line when there is an event. The reception is quick, efficient and professional. Bell service is the best I have experienced in any luxury hotel so far. We were at the prestige tower and the sobriety of the decor does not diminish in any way the luxury and comfort of the rooms. We stayed at the 30th floor and the views are breathtaking. The room is much bigger than the average 5 star in the city and much bigger that what you normally get say in NYC. The bathroom although a bit small doesn’t give the impression of being tight because of its intelligent layout and shower-bath area with a large window. The beds are comfortable and the cleanliness is impeccable. We Love this property and the staff is absolutely fabulous. I will make a separate comment on the Teppanyaki Restaurant, I will only spoil it a bit by saying it was fantastic.

We stayed at this hotel for only one night in October 2023 and were absolutely blown away. We travel a lot and have stayed at many nice hotels around the world, including Ritz and St. Regis. We don’t normally stay at Four Seasons or Mandarin, so can’t compare to those hotels, but this hotel definitely greatly exceeded our expectations based on the Ritz and St. Regis experiences.
We booked a Prestige Twin room via American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts program. This was for our last night prior to flying back home. I wish we stayed longer. First, the room is simply enormous at about 50 square meters. The quality of materials is top notch, and everything is very esthetically pleasing. The huge floor to ceiling windows make the room seem even larger and definitely bright and cheerful. Blackout curtains work perfectly.
The bathroom is large and comfortable, with fantastic shower (we haven’t had a mediocre US-style shower anywhere in Japan), double sinks and good lighting. There is a sizable closet with hanging space but also multiple drawers. There is a Nespresso machine (I would not stay in a hotel that does not have one) and wonderful china that made it a pleasure to drink coffee.
The beds were very comfortable and the hotel room was as quiet as a tomb.
We had lunch at the Japanese restaurant in the hotel and thought it was one of the highlights of our trip. I had the sushi while my wife had the traditional multi-course Japanese meal. It was on the expensive side (around $100-120 per person), but the price was commensurate with the quality and amount of food.
Because we stayed only one night, we didn’t get to experience any other amenities or service beyond check in/out (which was fully in line with my expectations).
We just booked The Okura Hotel (same type of room) for 5 nights for our upcoming visit in March 2025 and we can’t wait.

Had an excellent two night stay at the beginning of March. Although my partner smokes we had booked a non-smoking room as the rates on Expedia were much higher for a smoking room. Anyway when being shown round our room my partner asked where the smoking booth was ( we knew they had them) and we were proactively offered a switch to a smoking room without any addiotnal cost which we took up. The room was exactly the same on the 9th floor and the ventilation/AC did an excellent job.
We didn't book the rate with lounge access but did get free mini-bar, main bar discount voucher and lovely turn down chocolate and gifts. The room was very spacious and the bathroom and especially the bath lovely. A nice bonus was the ability to plug in my iPhone via an apple HDMI adapter so we could stream pre-loaded and UK content to the TV without having to fath with the actual TV. There is a little lift up lid under the screen with power sockets, RJ45 and HDMI socket.
Reception and restaurant staff were kind and helpful throughout as were the bell team.
We both felt it was better than the previously favourite Conrad and although a walk to the subway not as far as it appears on maps. Hope to stay again in 2024.

A beautiful hotel with lovely lounge area adjacent to reception. The design evokes Japanese minimalism and is so serene. Our room was so thoughtfully laid out to accommodate our (many) travel luggage and still allow luxury bath with views and relaxing seating areas adjacent to bed without having to look at our toils of travel. The staff was eager to be helpful everywhere- gym, breakfast, front door, reception. We had a very enjoyable two night stay in Tokyo at the tail end of our very enjoyable Japan trip before returning to USA
