My boyfriend and I like to go on adventures. We decided last minute that we were going to go hike around Temagami this past weekend and he suggested we stay close by for a night.

We ended up booking the 2 bedroom apartment here as we had our 4 year old daughter with us and our dog.

When we arrived the manager/owner was waiting and greeted Victor (my boyfriend who did the checking in) insisted on showing him the room before taking his money. He was very friendly and was there to answer any and all questions and even give information about what was going on in the area.

We had already read the reviews, we knew what to expect.

The beds were VERY comfortable! (I tried both)
The wifi worked great!
The shower had great water pressure and heated up really quickly!
The TV worked and had too many stations to choose from.
The heating worked great!

I honestly have no complaints... SURE the place is a bit dated, but it's character, it feels like you're staying with family if anything...

Theres a little Pizza place just down the street that we tried, really good thin crust pizza.

New Liskeard is a 15 minute drive north, there's a walmart, mcd, tims, kfc...

We have stayed at the Frontiersman for a few years now on our way to going fishing each spring up north. The motel is dated, but clean. The beds are fine and you can park your vehicle and boat just outside your door. The owner Michelle is very accommodating and you get what you pay for. There are many things in this place you just don't see anymore in hotels. Take a trip back to the 60's and 70's and experience The Frontiersman!

This place was awful. The rooms were musty smelling. The carpet was gross. The pillows were flat and cheap and only 1 per person. They didnt even have good curtains up so the outisde lights kept u up all night. Everything is old and dated. Our ac unit was ancient and loud. We were upstairs and the walkway is slanted and doesnt even feel safe. Thank god we were right by the stairs as i wouldnt even let my kids walk across it otherwise. If it wasnt for the fact that we arrived so late i would have refused the room and found somewhere else or even slept in the car. The place is a dump.

This place is frozen in time.
The hot water worked and there was a good amount of pressure! That's the only good part. Dated, very musty, dingy, poorly lit. Loud, poor privacy.
Might as well have slept in the car...noise level and comfort would have been the same.

Very comfy, clean and pleasant experience. We arrived in late and the motel host, John, was the friendliest and most welcoming person. He also showed us all the best spots to visit around Latchford. John made our stay so much fun that we stayed an extra night! It was a good base to explore from.
It is five minutes walk from the lovely lakeside if you fancy a dip. Restaurant (breakfast, lunch, dinner), and a gas station are available exactly opposite motel. There was also a chip stand next door, which was run by two very lovey ladies. They made us our first ever poutine, and Jenny gave us some samples of the most delicious ice cream. Little junk shop just down the road for collectible oddities; fun to explore, but don't expect a discount!
Would most certainly stay here again!!

Room Tip: Loved the room at the back! View of the sunset and a bit of the lake. Quieter.

Spent 2 nights looking up family history in the Latchford area. Room was clean and comfortable John was very helpful, putting me in touch with George, the mayor, who is a walking encyclopedia of local history. . For anyone staying in the area I would suggest this motel, and also check out the House of memories and the Loggers Hall of Fame, they have a tremendous display that is well worth your time, and deserves to be appreciated. Thanks to everyone for making our stay very enjoyable.

After my now 6th stay at the Frontiersman motel I can say with absolute certainty that it is of excellence. The owner is a respectable kind gentleman with a moto of absolute impecable customer service.

The rooms are always clean, comfortable and safe. As a woman travelling alone, finding a place of this magnitude is a rare gem. I would recommend this mote for your stay above any other. Whether travelling alone, or with my family, this place will remain our top choice for all the years to come.

Thank you Frontiersman for being of above and beyond quality.

Our crew of 8 were headed up for a canoe trip and needed a place to stay. John was very friendly and accommodating! Front desk was open until 11pm, breakfast started 730am, $85 bucks per room with two double beds in each room with TV fridge, coffee maker. We had rooms 4 and 5. Room 4 has a freezer. We have nothing but positive things to say about this cute simple clean stop on Highway 11!

First off let me say that the owner was very friendly and helpful, and the price for a single bed room was great. The room I stayed in though certainly had seen better days. There were cobwebs in the corners, the floor hadn't been vacuumed in a while, the TV was small, the wifi was spotty, and there was hair on the pillowcase. In the bathroom, the only light didn't work, the toilet wasn't screwed down properly, and you had to turn on both the sink and bathtub water on and wait 2 minutes before you could get hot water. The room was nice and warm however in the morning when it was -28C out. Unfortunately, the only restaurant in Latchford has closed, and so you need to go across the street to the gas station to get some coffee. There were also some muffins available in the office. I'm not sure if the other rooms are in better shape or not, but with so many decent places to stay a few minutes up the highway in Haileybury and New Liskeard, I would recommend staying there instead.

Dear Guest, Your honest feedback is much appreciated. We notice your visit to our property was in Feb14 but however the review was posted only in October 14. A new management has taken over the property and plenty of improvements & refurbishment work have been done since then. We are certain that your experience will definitely be much better on your next visit. Having said that we will look into all the areas highlighted and take corrective measures. Sincerely - Management.
