Had a function to attend at the nearby golf club, where the room rate was quite expensive. The Arches offered great value room, really comfy bed and a nice breakfast. Staff were also very friendly. Would recommend and would stay again.

Stayed here for two nights when attending a wedding at the nearby Hunley golf club, which is about 5 minutes walk away. It’s a very attractive hotel, with a nice cottage-y feel, and the owners were very friendly and helpful. We paid extra to upgrade to a full breakfast, which I think was worth doing. They have a big car...

Stayed here last night as a group of 5 (my brother was doing the full rally day). Chris & his team couldn't have been more friendly and helpful right from when we checked in 😊 the hotel is not "luxury modern" but is a very clean & comfortable, tastefully furnished in keeping with the character of the building. Ok, so...

The function rooms were well set out and looked very smart. The food - a carvery - was hot,...

Friendly staff, comfortable room and a excellent value! We stayed in the very spacious Room 5 with four poster - this room is only £10 more than the other rooms and well worth it for this little extra luxury! The staff are wonderful: friendly, helpful and willing to offer suggestions for places to eat. Don't go there expecting 5 star...

If you're walking the Cleveland Way, this is a lovely remote place to stay. I'd been to Saltburn to see the historic cliff lift, and woke to a special treat early morning. I know some folk won't appreciate the nearby freight railway line with it's early morning traffic but, being a railway fan that lives by a busy railway cutting,...

I spent a week-end at The Arches, the rooms were good, offering tea/coffee and TV. They were a good size and clean. Free WIFI in the rooms and the breakfasts were very large. Would stay there again when in the area.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Arches Country House is an independent, family owned and run accommodation located not far from Saltburn in North Yorkshire. We pride ourselves on our relaxed and informal atmosphere. We attract a wide variety of guests, from businessmen looking for a comfortable stay, without the noise and impersonality of a large hotel chain, to ramblers exploring the Heritage Coast Trail and Cleveland Way Walks that passes our door. Victorian Seaside village of Saltburn is 3 miles away with the oldest remaining water-balance cliff lift in Britain and Pier. We are just 6 miles from Redcar Race Course, and 15 miles from Whitby and Heartbeat Country, some of the most spectacular views of the North Yorkshire coast line. The Arches is owned and run by the Birkbeck family. The main building was originally a working farm dating back to 1876. It was sympathetically converted into guest accommodation in 1998, retaining many original features including the line of old stage coach archways that give us our name. We are located just half a mile outside of Brotton, Adjacent to a golf club. Indeed many of our guests take the time to enjoy a game while staying with us. We have eleven twin, family and double rooms, all en-suite and with the option of a four poster bed. In 2006 we were awarded a four star rating by the English Tourist Board and a five star rating for health and hygiene. All our rooms are en-suite with tea and coffee facilities, flat screen TV and wireless internet. Our prices include a continental breakfast, or a full English breakfast can be ordered the evening before at a cost of £5.00 per head. Dogs are welcome in certain ground floor rooms and are charged at £10 per dog, per night. ANY DOGS MUST BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE. ... more   less
