Booked last minute. Lucky to find this gem. Understated outside, inside the ambience of an old Exmoor inn overlaid with style and luxury. Owner Caroline very welcoming. Didn't meet her partner Nigel - he was busy in the kitchen. They don't do dinner ( at least when I visited) but superb breakfast menu and lunches apparently very popular. And there are good restaurants nearby. The rooms were beautifully designed. There is a public car park 100 yards away (50P honesty fee) and Bampton itself well worth exploring.
We spent a night here as a base for visiting Exeter and were delighted to discover it. Caroline and Nigel run it charmingly - the rooms are very attractive, the bed really comfortable and everything seemed beautifully thoughtful (fresh milk for you in a fridge on the landing - places which do that always go to the top of my list!) When we arrived, we were given delicious scones and tea in the pretty garden - and the breakfast was truly one of the best we've had in a UK B & B. Importantly at the moment, we felt all the precautions taken round Covid were sensible and careful, which we appreciated. In all - this was such a very pleasant and enjoyable stay that we're sure we'll return.
Having just stayed for four nights, we’re missing it already. It was so cosy inside while it rained throughout the stay. Caroline and Nigel really do go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We’ll definitely be back sooner rather than later
Although we have friends who live in Bampton, we wanted to surprise them so looked for somewhere close by to stay. We chose the Bridge House because of its location and ratings online and having just stay there, we are so pleased we did. From the arrival to checking out, we were made to feel so welcome. The whole place in very homely and the attention to detail is exceptional. The little touches really make all the difference on a short stay. You can tell that this business is a labour of love for Caroline and Nigel. The homemade jams, breads and cakes were fabulous so overindulgence is inevitable but well worth it. We cannot recommend this cosy little place enough and will be back
Stay was for 1 night on each of two stays within 10 days. A surprisingly well equipped hotel for an old local style building. Rooms were exceedingly well fitted to a very high traditionally comfy - better than homely! - standard. Modern duvet covered beds with every facility that you would expect in the different rooms booked for each stay. Breakfast offered an exceptional choice with all peripheral items already laid out - so no searching needed or requested for the juice or cereal! A joy to return for our second stay!
