I did a stopover here on my way back home to Germany. It's was sort of a last-minute kind of visit: I could've just kept on going, but I felt like stopping. Stayed here for one night in may on route to italy from UK, what a good choice we made. Sat outside in the sun, sunning ourselves on a late afternoon watching it slowly set behind the mountains was gorgeous sipping on the house red which I recommend. We stayed one night at Silbergasser when traveling from The Netherlands to Italy. The hotel is situated in a quiet area and provides good service, the owners are very friendly and the room was neat and had everything we required. It is not luxurious and the rooms are fairly small and fairly basic but it is great for a night or two with a very good restaurant serving huge plates of beautifully presented local dishes. The staff go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and...

I agree with everything in Gluhwein's review and want to add that what really makes Silbergasser special is the two men who run it - Reinhold and Manuel. The inn has been in Reinhold's family for over...

The history of this old inn has to be amazing. Dating back to the Renaissance era the hotel has been run by the Silbergasser family for generations. It's strategic location along the narrow Brenner Pass must've made it a vital strategic chokepoint in many of the conflicts fought over the years. It sits just across the Ausytian/Italian border in the...
