We stayed a night in one of the bunk rooms. The room was small with two sets of bunks. The beds were firm but nicely made up with new linen and a heater was available. We ate in the restaurant and all enjoyed the lamb shanks .It was a big night in the bar but we were not disturbed by...

We have stopped at The Royal in Naseby several times. Always comfortable and charming, but the improvement since Deborah and Mark took over is significant. Our room was really comfortable and we had an excellent meal. However, the stand out feature of the hotel is the warm and friendly hospitality. Deborah and Mark really could not have been more helpful....

The Royal Hotel is a slice of the past. 6 of us stayed there while cycling the Central Otago Rail Trail. Our host, Mark, picked us up from Ranfurly and delivered us back there the next morning. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The rooms that we stayed in all had small en suites and although the decor is...

Thank you for your thoughts.I am glad you had a great time with us.The furniture in the rooms are dated to go with the era of the pub.People want to come here and feel the atmosphere that the pub exhumes but still has a few mod cons as well. The pub is 150 yrs old but still feels like a home...

This hotel, built in 1863, does not have all modern amenities - as you would expect. But it doesnt matter - if you enjoy experiencing the life & times of old, this is the place to visit! This period of New Zealand history was as rough & tough as the American wild west! Our room was small but comfortable -...

This very old quaint hotel is most comfortable though rooms are very sparse with toilets & showers down the hall. The beer & food was great along with the ambience including a roaring open wood fire to stave off the frost - & this was in March!

We had an excellent time at our short stay in Naseby during the Central Otago Rail Trail in July. From the pickup to drop off our hosts were friendly and helpful. The perfect place to unwind! Our dinner was delicious and we were made to feel truly welcome. I would recommend this hotel to anyone in the area or also...

from the pick up and drop off to this great little town and hotel you get a classic kiwi experience, sitting by the fire with a nice dink, surrounded by a mix of locals, cyclists and family holiday groups there was a great buzz to this place….and the food was great! Definitely worth taking the detour (picked up by the...

This "hotel" is so regardless renovated and has a modern bathroom. We had an ensuite bathroom so that made for a better time. However the hotel is very old and we were cold in those fall. The restaurant was adequate but expensive for the moderate quality. The host was VERY accommodating and the bar had character but definitely not upscale.

A group of 12 of us choose The Royal for an overnight stay. We were a mixed group of aunties and nieces getting together to enjoy a break away. Jill was very helpful when I was booking the accommodation and when we arrived she was very welcoming. We enjoyed a lovely meal in a small separate dining room and we...
