Ballathie House is a great place to spend a peaceful break. The hotel has excellent staff, who are friendly but not overfamiliar; comfortable rooms, with a home from home feel; and outstanding food. We spent six nights in a Riverside Suite with our two dogs. The Suite was a good size with a sitting room and a bedroom, perfect for giving the dogs their own space. The 100 yard walk from the Riverside building to the House was nice first thing in the morning and after too much food on an evening! Waking up next to the River Tay was great for views. The staff were great. The Covid restriction were managed well and didn’t really ruin our stay at all, in fact on the evening of what was our first wedding anniversary, it turned out we were the only residents in the hotel and whilst it would have been easier just to tell us the kitchen was closed, the staff went above and beyond, setting up a romantic table for us in the Morning Room with a personalised menu of our favourite dishes. The House is well located, meaning we could do day trips up to Balmoral, Pitlochry and around Perthshire’s stunning scenery. There are some nice walks around the Estate and in nearby Blairgowrie (and some good village pubs around too). We will definitely be returning to Ballathie House again and again.…
Excellent service from very friendly and efficient staff. Dinner was very good indeed. I can’t recommend this venue highly enough for a short break. Despite the current restrictions the staff went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
We arrived at hotel and all the new rules were clearly explained in a nice and pleasant manner. The receptionist kindly explained that as my wife had mobility issues they had placed us in a ground floor room and had upgraded us to a suite. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast. We were delighted with the hotel and were pleased to see the quality of the rooms and the staff were still top quality. We will be returning in the spring to enjoy the wonderful views and the lovely food
Had one night stay in beautiful room. Food was excellent, staff lovely. Dinner was exquisite beautiful menu and presentation. Breakfast served very fresh and lovely cooked with view overlooking river. Due to Covid we sat outside in the afternoon for a drink under gazebo with a fire on lovely. It was my first visit but I will definitely return .
Stayed here for a few days break with friends and what an absolute delight. A beautiful place right on the River Tay, fabulous grounds and very picturesque. Every member of staff we came into contact with, was polite, helpful, informative and worked hard to please and ensure our stay was enjoyable. We booked the à la carte menu for dinner and the food, every course, was absolutely delicious. We could not fault the food and wine; the quality of the food was of a high standard and we were impressed at every course. Credit and congratulations must be extended to the chefs and team as the menu, food and presentation was truly remarkable. From a covid perspective, the hotel has thought this through and implemented robust procedures and systems to maintain safety as far as possible. We felt safe and assured that appropriate care and standards had been set and certainly observed staff complying with them consistently. The room we stayed in was large, airy and the bathroom spacious with a large roll top bath and separate walk in shower. The only thing that disappointed slightly was the too soft mattress and pillows on the bed, perhaps a personal preference but it did affect quality of our sleep. The chaise longue in the room was in character with the surroundings, however the fabric appeared dirty and didn't look attractive. One of the group went on a fishing trip catching wild salmon in the River Tay, what a fantastic experience in a beautiful place. Our recommendation: Highly recommend…
