My daughter and I went to the Kariega River Lodge in August, 2014. The safari was all inclusive and room and food was unbelievable in quality. The pictures on their web site are very accurate. The weather was great in August, no snakes or bugs. Our guide was Wayne and he was a wonderfully friendly young man with impressive knowledge...

We spent two nights in the River Lodge and we really had a great time. The lodge is situated right by the Bushmans River in the southeast Kariega Game Reserve. Upon arrival, we were expected by the friendly staff who took care of our bags and parked the car. We had a suite with river view which we liked very...

Safar guide great, he know lot of those animals what we see. You have two safar for a day, first early mornin and secon afternoon. Only surprising thing was that tip culture. Hi Tuomo, Thank you so much for adding your review in both English and Finnish. We really appreciate you sharing your feedback on your stay on TripAdvisor. We are so pleased that you enjoyed our hospitality and your safari's. We are so sorry that you felt uncomfortable about the tipping. This is standard across all safari experiences in Africa but...

The service offered by the Kariega private game reserve was of the highest quality. The staff were cheerful and apparently pleased to serve; the food was gourmet in quality and gourmand in quantity ... kudu steaks, impala, as well as more usual meats, and plenty for the vegetarian. The accommodation, individual suites in a local style, could scarcely have been...

Hi Roy, What a delight to read about your safari and stay with us at River Lodge. I can imagine how you felt and you describe your experience so eloquently! A safari at Kariega is certainly different from the wide open plains of east Africa. We are so glad the wildlife and close-encounter experiences were a delight! Thank you for...

We spent 3 night including New Years Eve in Kariega River Lodge. The food was excellent, as was the general service. Nice little shop. Guiding was brilliant by Anthony. Room large with beautiful bathroom, Nespresso and all inclusive drinks. Great variety of game viewing by Land Cruiser as well as boat. Negative was only the fact that the lodge is...

Hi Martin, Thank you so much for your review of your stay at River Lodge. We are pleased to read that you rated your stay so highly but we do want to be excellent! All rivers in South Africa have to allow public access and the upper reaches of the Bushman's River is no different, particularly at peak holiday season...

My wife and I, and two other couples, spent three nights at Kariega River Lodge in November. It was superb! It was, to me, the perfect blend of great service and friendly informality. Our room was a very luxurious thatched suite right next to the river about five minutes walk from the main lodge, but we didn't have to walk...

We are honeymooners from the UK and stayed for 2 nights at Kariega. We stayed in the Zebra Lodge at River lodge. From the moment we arrived we were met with a hot flannel and a nice cool drink. We stayed 2 years ago, see my review, and this time we took my wife's elderly parents to enjoy the experience. Dave our ranger was exceptionally knowledgable, had a deep passion for the animals and birds, and above all he took great care making sure my parents in law were comfortable on the drives. We are so pleased that you had a great second visit to Kariega and enjoyed your stay with us at River Lodge. We've passed on your compliments to ranger Dave and the team at the lodge.
