I think it’s mostly because folks don’t know the name of the property that they’re staying at, since the names have recently changed and appear as the Oasis at Death Valley, the Furnace Creek Inn, the Inn at Death Valley ... The Ranch nomenclature has remained pretty steadily, but easy to get the names of the properties confused.
