We stayed for 1 night in the dormitory after hiking down from the top that day. It's a beautiful setting and they are exceptionally organized there. The dorms were as clean as they could be with people coming in with hiking boots all day. There's...More

Comfort at the bottom of the canyon. After riding the mules down, it was a welcome reward to arrive in Phantom Ranch, and grab a beer in the canteen before dinner. The cabins were comfy, private, and warm. We were in bed at 8 pm...More

Stayed here 3 wonderful nights. Even though it rained the entire way down and our first day here this is a magical place. Travelled with 4 people who all got on the phone at 7am on March 1, 2014 and kept calling until we got...More

There was a picnic table by our cabin as well as a couple of them near the Canteen. I don’t immediately recall seeing a grill. We are our meals in the canteen.

Very hot. Rim is a bit cooler but it progressively gets hotter as you go down the trail. No shade in general throughout the trail except for at Indian Gardens.
