The Thunderbird is an ugly building and it's not even on the tourist maps because no one wants to see it. We wandered around for 30 minutes trying to figure out how to check in because there's no sign and it turns out you check in at the Bright Angel. Our room was clean and it did have a rim... More

The room is not much. It looks and feels old or "rustic" might be better. There was a bit of a musty smell in the room, but it did look clean. What makes it worth it is that it is a few step from the south rim. The view is perfect once you go outside. What is also nice, is... More

We had a room on first floor with partial canyon view with 2 queen beds refrigerator and microwave. Very updated and nice. There are no amenities in this lodge you have to go next door to bright angel lodge for coffee restaurant and gift shop. Pretty cool to watch sun come up over the canyon from our room (it was... My family spent 2 nights here. The Lodge is right next to the rim. It's really cool to leave your room and be able to immediately see the Grand Canyon. It is right next to Bright Angel Lodge where we checked in/our, caught our bus tour, and had access to 2 restaurants and a snack bar. You can also easily... More

This hotel is not a 5 star hotel and you pay for the view. This hotel is old but the rooms have been renovated and they are decent and clean rooms! The best part about this hotel is that it was located literally 20 feet from the South Rim. It was also located well for restaurants, gift shops, and a... More

We had a standard 2 queen room with a partial view, it was clean and beds were comfortable. It's all about the location. It was nice to have a partial view room but it really isn't necessary the canyon is only about 50ft away. The decor and comfort of the room was better than I had expected for somewhere so... More

We had booked this hotel based upon the advertisement and when we arrived we were sadly disappointed. The staff was friendly enough, but as soon as we entered the main doors it was clear the place was filthy and not well maintained. As for the room we felt dirty from the moment we entered the room. And to add insult... More

The location of the Thunderbird lodge is perfect, steps from the canyon and close to restaurants at Bright Angel. We had a two queen room on the second floor with partial view. Partial was correct as we could see a little of the canyon but mostly the roof of the building below. There was a musty smell in the room... More

Sitting here looking or my window at the canyon from the second floor. Watched the sun rise this morning, too. Room is not large but we have two queen beds and full bathroom with soaps and body washes and lotions in pump. 123 steps from our door to the canyon rim. October weather is great. No crowds at all! Got... More

We stayed for two nights at the Thunderbird Lodge at the Grand Canyon as part of a Caravan tour. I guess our room faced the parking lot and didn't have much of a view, but honestly, I hardly noticed because a few steps outside our door brought us to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, so it was all...
