We paid extra for a crater view, but our room (#19) has a big tree in between us and the steaming/visually interesting part of the crater. I feel ripped off. The room is clean, and the staff are helpful. The locations is great.

The recently opened Volcano house in the park is slowly opening for guests again with spectacular views of the stunning and large caldera and views of Halemaumau. It's worth an overnight stay or meal to enjoy your time in the park

I managed to snag a crater view room just after the hotel reopened. The staff must have gone all out to get the place on line. The restaurants opened while I was in house. So I got to enjoy the breakfast buffet each morning. Thanks...More

We had a room with 2 double beds...so 4 was no problem. The walk in closet could easily fit a pack n play or kids size air mattress if one of your 5 is a child. I'm not sure if they have any rules about extra guests.
