We enjoyed our stay at Montecito Lodge! All the staff were nice & helpful! The price for an all inclusive lodge was fantastic, the food was great, including wine & cheese hour! Our room was comfortable, the walls seemed a little thin, as we could hear the guest above us. It is lo

I guess I should start by saying we paid nearly $200 a night for a rickety room, a good bathroom, good wine and cheese at 5pm, an ok buffet dinner and breakfast and a terrible night sleep.

I don’t think I am unreasonable but a sheet and a blanket just don’t cut it when the outd

Dear Alpenhorn GE, We are very sorry to hear that you were cold in your vintage lodge room. Each vintage lodge room has a room heater that guests can control to their comfort level via an in-room thermostat. Our front desk staff would have been happy to get you help on how to operate the heater. Also, each of of our vintage lodge rooms are provided with standard-sized sheets, a blanket and a quilt. Our blankets and quilts are usually well-known US brands including Pendleton & Pottery Barn environmentally-friendly quilts/blankets. We are trying to maintain our vintage rustic feel in these rooms in fitting with our history as a girls leadership camp, so we choose quilts for our bedding as they are more traditional than duvets in the mountains here in the U.S. However, we do have our upscale and new Forest Cabins, which have duvets on the King beds. We also have down comforters in our rustic cabins during the off-season months for added warmth. Our upscale Forest Cabins are the nicest and newest accommodations anywhere in or near the parks, so we recommend these accommodations for those guests who are more used to an upscale experience. We have also fully remodeled our Lakeview Suites with upscale finishes and amenities as well. Your vintage lodge room rate during your stay was $149 per night for a lodge located inside the gates of the parks. Our rates are all-inclusive (wine & cheese welcome, buffet dinner, evening s'mores, buffet breakfast, with 24-7 access to hot/cold beverages and snacks; the room rate also includes a family evening activity, and 4 hours of counselor-led activities; including 4-hours of childcare with our kids club, and access to our on-site seasonal amenities which in fall include hiking trails, outdoor hot tub, private lake with canoes, kayaks, SUPs, foosball & ping pong tables, games, books, 2 large fireplaces in the public lodge areas, etc.). We offer the best value on the mountain due to our all-inclusive model, with a wide range of accommodations, from very rustic to the most upscale in the area, but many people try to compare our rate for the cost of a room outside the gates of the parks that are not all-inclusive - not really an apple-to-apples comparison. Dear AlpenhornGE, we always recommend that our guests go to our Front Desk if they are unhappy or have an issue with their room, to give us a chance to make it right. Had you asked, we would probably would have given you a refund for your second night if we could not help resolve your issues. We realize that many of our international travelers and/or out-of-state travelers have different expectations than we provide in our less-expensive rooms due to our remote wilderness location and older rustic mountain lodge, but we have remodeled most of our units to reflect the older character of when the lodge was built while keeping our guests comfort in the forefront, in addition to adding new Forest Cabins and upscale Lakeview Suites for those guests who are focused on having a nicer room. We do recommend that guests go to the lodging page of our website, so they can choose the accommodation to best meet their comfort level and needs. I do hope that the rest of your vacation was enjoyable and wish you all the best in your future travels. We are sorry that we were not your cup of tea, and did not give us an opportunity to better meet your expectations during your stay with us. Sincerely, T. Dally Owner Family Montecito Sequoia Lodge & Summer Family Camp

Make sure to not be assigned a room directly above the busy, working kitchen of the main lodge. The stairs leading up to main lodge rooms are narrow and awkward and distant from where you can park. The room was very dated, needed a comprehensive cleaning and was the NOISEST ROO

Dear Sir, My apologies that you found your room noisy and did not want to stay in the alternative room you were offered. Your stay coincided with a very busy Saturday night where we were near sold out, so we did not have a lot of alternative options to offer you, as we generally offer unhappy guests an alternative that works for them if at all possible. As stated on our website, we are an older property and our main lodge, where your particular room was located, is a hub of activity until our quiet hours (after 9pm). Most of our guests are on the ground floor in the evenings enjoying our public rooms with our two large woodburning fireplaces, books, games, organized cousnelor-led evening activity (such as astronomy or arts & crafts), evening s'mores, etc., which are all included in the room rate, in addition to buffet meals and our wine & cheese welcome reception. After the evening activities (which usually end just before 9pm), our property gets very quiet for a restful nights sleep, as our rustic lodge is located in the wilderness, so there is no highway noise, air traffic, or city noise to distract from our guests getting a good night's sleep. I am sorry that you were in bed before 9pm so your sleep was disturbed. I do believe you would have had a much more enjoyable stay had you opted for our Forest Cabins. They are on the edge of our property, very quiet and completely private. You are correct that our cabins our much quieter, and for those guests, like yourself, who do not like vintage/historic lodges and want to be away from the hub of activity in our main lodge, we recommend staying in our beautiful, modern, and new Forest Cabins - which are the nicest accommodations to be found in or near these parks. My apologies that you were up before our front desk staff began the morning coffee (they arrive at 6:30am), but we do have a special speciality coffee machine which makes hot coffee and hot cocoa 24/7 at the press of a button, and have high-end teas and hot water available around the clock as well. We also have self-serve bagels, toast, cereal, fruit, etc. available before our breakfast buffet is served for those guests who want to get an extra-early start on the day. Additionally, our new Forest Cabins also come equipped with their own coffee maker, mini-fridge and microwave, so you could've enjoyed a hot cup of coffee right in your room had you chosen that option. Again, I am very sorry that we were not the right place for you, and hope you were able to enjoy your visit to the sequoia trees despite your disappointment with our property. We really do try to please our guests, but some guests come to our property expecting a "Comfort Inn" or "Marriott in the Mountains" type of property, and we are a totally different experience due to our wilderness location and the challenges of operating in our remote area. Still most of our guests value and are appreciative what we offering, given the all-inclusive nature of our property, our amazing location inside the park gates, and the guided activities we offer free to our guests (including up to 4 hours of child care in our Kids' Club daily). We are primarily geared towards families with children, but many seniors do opt to stay with us for the value we offer to stay inside the parks. Wishing many happy future travels and hoping next time you find a better place that suits your needs - I completely understand why our property was not a good fit for you. Sincerely, T. Are there any vegan options for dining there?
Hello, We offer vegetarian options with each meal and ask vegan guests to stop by the kitchen upon check-in to speak with our cooks about how to accommodate them (if we are not already serving a vegan entree on the main buffet line). Hope that helps! Best, Montecito

Do they offer pack n plays (infant cribs)?
Hi Jessica W., We do have a number of pack n plays available for our guests. You can note your request in the special requests section of your reservation, but I also recommend calling the front desk before your arrival to request one. You can call 1-800-227-9900 and press "1" when prompted to make your request. Hope that helps! Best, Montecito

I am looking into places to stay in late December or first week of January, what winter activities are included with the stay you pay in lodging fees? Im reading on the website all incluysive so I want to know whats all included for winter activities please! Thanks!
You should check with the lodge but my expectation would be that this area would be impassable from November to March. We were there in late May and had six inches of snow. Greg

"cabin has a great view and is independent building itself"
"Get a cabin"
"If you have the money the Lake View Suites and Forest Cabins are fab."
"If you can get a room on one of the ends of main lodge go for it. People respect quiet hours, so we didn't find it a problem."
"The Forest Cabins are nice, but rustic with no plumbing. En suite bathrooms are more expensive."
