Good location and view. But bathroom was never cleaned upon arrival. Cleaned it and moved on. Who wants to spend time awaiting for housekeeping to get back to you. Also lock to room door did not work well. Explained this in my review and was told that I would receive a discount

As always for national park lodges, you are paying a premium to stay in the park, not for the room. Location is great, view from the room was gorgeous. Bathroom had been updated, as had the room. But, room smelled musty, hair left in the bathtub from prior guest. I would

We stayed down the road at Big Meadows but drove here twice to eat. Both times the food was definitely better than the offering at our hotel. The gift shop is better with everything you might want to buy. It was dark once when we visited and foggy the other so did not explore

We enjoyed our stay at Skyland. Our lodge room was spacious with 2 double beds and a deep closet. Beds were firm and comfortable. Sheets were clean. The view out our balcony was great! Skyland was convenient to the trailheads we needed to take. The restaurant was good if

If you value comfort, if you value peace, if you value money well spent, then drive on. This place is convenient when driving through. That's it. We paid top dollar and got paper thin walls (seriously, it is like people were IN our room talking). The bed is like a rock. With a

There are four entrances to the park. We always enter at Thornton Gap Entrance Station (accessible via Route 211). If you enter there, ask the Park Ranger to direct you to Skyline Drive. The Skyline Resort is about 5 miles from that entrance.

If you bring layers & a hooded rain coat, you'll be fine. The scenery is soo gorgeous, the weather is secondary. I'm envious- have a fabulous time :-)

Hi, I haven't been in August, but it gets pretty hot in the Summer months. The heat usually brings the mosquitos, and the humidity in the, especially in a green, lush forest for that time of year. I would definitely be prepared for them especially at dusk and dawn. Their most active times. Although the mountains get cooler in the evening, I think insect repellent, whether it's organic or chemical is a definite must. Mosquitos love me, so I'm always prepared. I usually spray beforehand and bring packets to keep in my pocket in case I need more. They sell the packets at Walmart. There's nothing worse then being covered with bites and itchy. Better to be prepared.

How is the internet and do they have wifi?
WiFi is available in communal areas and I believe some rooms but we were unable to access during our stay. We took it as an opportunity to switch off technology for a few days which was quite refreshing.

There is Wifi in the Dining Room and Bar area and Store and Reservation Desk, some guest rooms. Wifi isn't available staying in many of the rooms, cabins, lodging at Skyland. You can get cell service in Some Locations but Not All of them. Many cabins/rooms people stay in have no internet, no tv and no cell service, no ceiling fan and no AC. Want entertainment in your room, during bad weather? Download to your device before you get to Skyland, Wifi Isn't Strong Enough to download or stream anything. Option is portable projector that can play DVDs on room wall.
