Detailed Reviews
In Boscolungo on the no. 80 trail down off the Apennine ridge. Clean simple room facing the main road; the road was quiet at night. Friendly staff who spoke English. Good food, although the other guests ate earlier than us, so we were the last diners. The service was a bit amateurish.

We visited Abetone for the first time in February and for a family ski trip I could not recommend it more highly. We were very lucky to chance upon Hotel Primula. I had seen a forum with families who were all extremely enthusiastic. I had a bit of trouble booking online so called the hotel directly. The hotel is situated a 3 minute drive from the beginner slopes. It is is run by an incredible friendly family who are extremely accommodating, nothing was too much to ask. The hotel is not luxurious but is immaculately clean and comfortable and there is plenty of room to relax outside of the bedroom. In the hotel they have a lounge area (with wifi), and downstairs there is a great bar with an open fire. We chose half board so breakfast and dinner was included in the very reasonable price. The food is super fresh and the chef makes his own ravioli ( a must!). There was plenty to eat for the hungry teenagers and Italian food always keeps them happy!
I can't recommend this hotel more highly for both families and couples for a great ski holiday but we also realised that there is amazing walking in the summer, with a huge amount of designated tracks.
On a last note the resort itself is perfect for families. The food on the mountain is great and cheap, excellent expresso everywhere you go and the lift tickets and ski school are great value. Many of the ski instructors speak English.
Hotel Primula is extraordinary value for money without compromising on quality. It will definitely not disappoint!

We found this hotel some years ago when staying at the Boscolungo over the road. The Primula has a cosy bar with a log fire. It is run by a friendly family and we are always made welcome by Clarissa,Tiziano and Paula. The half board price is reasonable and vegetarian options are always provided in the restaurant. The hotel is a short walk uphill to the main car park and chairlifts.

We went to eat at their pizza restaurant in the evening….
We took an appetizer as an introduction which did not reflect the price at all...3 crostini and a few slices of ham and salami...nothing special...
We then ordered the pizzas since the lady told us that they had a pizza chef and that they would make the pizzas themselves...
Unfortunately, however, their pizza is made on a frozen pre-cooked base and therefore the quality is that of a frozen pizza to which they add some ingredients to pass it off as artisanal pizza...
Even the dessert was a shame as it was also a frozen pudding mix...
I really don't think we'll return.

Very vintage structure but at least clean. We had three misfortunes: we asked for marriage and we had double , radiators on and mattresses uncomfortable and to throw away. The hotel would need heavy maintenance. Sufficient breakfast. will not stay there again in the future
