The location is about 5 miles from city center but they have a shuttle that takes people back and forth several times a day. Right on the lake . Air conditioning never cooled the room. Too hot to sleep well . Bed was not comfortable . Like a board so If you like very firm will be happy. Staff were very kind and accommodating . Breakfast was quite good and plentiful. Lovely spa .

We had a problem with our boat which forced us to dock at the hotel pier and ask for help which was promptly offered to us. We would like to thank and praise Maître Juri and the Ferrari Director for their friendliness and invaluable availability in helping us, especially considering that it was 10.30pm on a Sunday evening. My wife and I had a great time at the Swiss Diamond this summer, forced by the COVID situation we had to opt for a “near-by” hotel and surprsingly our choice resulted in a positive experience. The hotel is 10 minutes drive from Lugano and this is an added value for those who want to escape from the city. The area by the lake has a great view on the villages along the beautiful lake and it’s (not always) quite peaceful. I reckon the hotel was full everyday and we had to get up really early to make sure to have our sunbeds for the day. The rooms are a little outdated and would maybe need a restauration (e.g we had a room on the third floor and car noises from the road above where quite annoying), on the other side, the housekeepers are doing a great job in keeping every corner spotless. We had dinner twice at the restaurant and both times the experience was excellent (both with the local Ticino menu and the fish menu). Breakfast it’s ok, the buffet is quite small and we would have loved a wider/healthier choice. Lunch and cocktails by the bar works very well, the choice on the small-bites-menu is well selected and the staff there is kind and welcoming, it’s nice to see young workers showing enthusiasm for their profession. Shout out to Giacomo who was basically everywhere (breakfast, bar, beach area, restaurant) and always treated us with care, carrying a big smile in his eyes (we are sure he was smiling under his mask too).

I think the hotel used to be very prestigious, but it has clearly lost its shine. The carpet in our room was very stained and the sheets in the bed had some marks (they were clean). The shower was in a bathtub and I had the lean back to be able to rinse my hair. This does not help to have a relaxing experience.
Our room was on the first floor and I had to wear earplugs at night bc of the live music they had every evening. They did not care much about reducing noise and opened the safety doors making it very noisy to sleep.
Their spa is very old, the jacuzzi was only having 2 places with jets as the rest was broken. Also on the bottom of the jacuzzi there was something sharp sticking out. Kids were running loose in the (hot) spa area and staff was not motivated to speak to the parents. Also not enough beds available and when something became available staff was not pro-active securing them for you.
Breakfast is having all options but nothing really special. Service was quick.
The view on the lake was beautiful and I think if the pool outside would have been warm enough for a swim it would have made an amazing place to relax in summer, but it was already too cold.
On check-out the staff informed us of a bar fee we did not consume. They quickly removed it after our protest (we did not drink this). That was a good service!
Again, it’s sad to see the state that the hotel is in. I think a newer 4 star hotel is providing a better experience. I hope they will soon do some renovations.

Great location of the hotel, large room and bathroom, staff was friendly.
The hotel is not a 5 star resort - maybe a good 3 star hotel. It was a trip back in time with amenities of that time (e.g. WiFi). The rooms are quite baroque and accordingly awkward (e.g. the exit to the mini balcony). The cleanliness of the room is just like the style; dusty. Housekeeping was a disaster; the search for dust failed, the broken TV was only replaced when the guest asked, the bathroom was poorly cleaned, the terry cloth was not replenished. The minibar was not replenished. There was no turndown service with a quick clean. The worst thing: if you're going to make the beds old-fashioned, housekeeping should at least make the beds properly and smooth out the sheets. There is no bowl of fruit or welcome present in the room - maybe we weren't welcome either?! Many rooms face the street so that guests don't miss the morning wake-up call from traffic. Swimming trunks are compulsory in the SPA, which can cause a bit of a bad smell. Breakfast is very nicely served on the 6th floor with a great view and friendly staff; the food is like in a middle-class hotel (with a poor selection of bread), which is sufficient and good, but not 5-star level. This was also the reason why we did not use any other hotel services (bar, restaurant, etc.).
My words tempt you to think that this hotel is bad, but it is not. We were sold a 5-star hotel and were not offered one. This hotel shows a major shortcoming of the Swiss hotel umbrella organization: there is a lack of fundamental modernization of the star category; who wants to have elevator boy and concierge lug suitcases around like they did 100 years ago when there were no rolling suitcases?

That’s my favourite expression and this is the only place I have found in Switzerland where I hear it repeatedly.
Can you believe that they gave us Shuttle pickups, drop offs, assistance with reservations, bags, whatever all in the house.
We wanted an Italian specialty “Mellanzane de Parmegiano” and the front desk called 7 restaurants until they found someone who could make it for us especially. (Thank you Margherita)
The new manager has made some small changes that have made a huge difference. Rooftop breaks fast with that view. All included.
Shuttle drop off and pickups (as much as you want it seems) all included.
They have understood what hospitality is and it is nothing to do with going to hospitality school.
It’s about having a team that works from the heart.
I wonder around the hotel without my wallet, phone or anything and enjoy all the pool sauna spa breakfast food and drinks without a fuss.
What more can I ask for?

We stayed for my sisters birthday and were greeted by Natalie who was very helpful and pleasant. Next day Margarita was so professional and friendly helping us decide where we must see and arranging room decorations with balloons and flowers. She arranged it exactly as I asked for. The staff at the breakfast area were so delightful greeting us with big smiles every morning and catering to all our needs. The hotel was clean and well serviced by all the staff across the hotel. I loved the location we were walking distance from Morcote and 28 minutes from Lake Como. I enjoyed every minute of my stay and would definitely recommend and visit the hotel again.

Very nice hotel well located on the shores of Lake Maggiore. A little care for the customers, just a little problem with the restaurant upstairs. A beautiful spa with the swimming pool, it's quiet without too many people. The hotel is very well located and the view is absolutely beautiful!!! The staff were very pleasant, competent and very attentive to the well-being of their guests. The amenities (entrance hall, elevator, swimming pool, spa, etc.) were exemplary clean. Our room, with balcony and lake view, was incredible... the extra was definitely worth it! The evening meal at the hotel restaurant was gourmet; our children ate with good appetite and we with... a very nice culinary discovery and quality service! We are looking forward to a future experience... this time more summery!

Hi We flew into Milan via Ryan Air and then took a bus from airport (we did not pre book - we bought tickets as we landed), which took under an hour and was not expensive . The hotel does offer transfers but they are quite expensive. I believe there is also a train that leaves from one of the airport terminals. Hope this helps.
There are more places to choose from in the Vico Morcote area.
