As always, a delightful night-stop! Have stayed in a number of rooms but none so delightful as room 6 - cute & quirky with a super view overlooking the River Stour. Added bonus to find Pinkster Gin in the bar!

A nice meal, lovely surroundings but seems very expensive for what you get. Starters were around £7-8 and were small (i had the crab cake, very nice but teeny tiny) burger was nice but nothing special. 1/2 pint of pieroni £5. Can't fault the service. Staff very attentive and friendly.

I booked a stay with dinner and breakfast package for my partner's birthday. We received a friendly welcome and shown our room which was on the top floor with a view of the river. We had a walk up the road to the Mistleythorn Kitchen shop which was full of lovely things. Then we had dinner which was included in...

In the seventeenth century, the building was owned by the notorious self=styled witchfinder general, Matthew Hopkins,,,but don't let that put you off. Despite the in-yer-face poster of the '70s movie, 'Witchfinder', on the first=floor landing, there's nothing about Mistley House to give you the creeps. Rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and, if you're at the front, afford a good view...

We booked at the last minute after a family health crisis and were lucky to choose the Thorn as everthing worked out very well. Our room, in an annexe, was large and comfortable, and, although near the road, very quiet thanks to a very effective double glaze. Mistley is a charming place and we visited the kitchen shop directly below...

My husband booked The Mistley Thorn for me as a surprise treat. I spent time getting myself ready and dressed up as I always do when looking forward to our date nights. We arrived on time and on first impressions all seemed very nice and the place had lots of diners. We were shown to our table and ordered our...

This party came in on a busy saturday night. They were given menus and drinks and after 12-15 minutes ordered straight to main courses, one steak and one plaice. After 22 minutes the gentleman came to the bar and asked where their food was. The duty manager went to the kitchen where their food was waiting on the pass. On...

As a fan of their sister restaurant [Lucca at Manningtree], we were keen to try The Thorn but sadly, it didn't come up to our expectations. The lunch table I'd booked via email on 11 January had since been reserved for other diners and the staff spent a few minutes trying to re-organise another suitable table for us, despite the...
