We have stayed at the fox and hounds a few times and sometimes just visited for a meal. If you are looking for a place to relax and get away from it all, this is an ideal place to stay. The owners and staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food at breakfast and in the restaurant in the evening...

We had Sunday Lunch at this lovely pub. Food was excellent. Staff were very friendly. Lovely Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding. Full up but managed a summer pudding which was lovely. Would certainly go back again.

Called in for lunch mid week whilst house viewing in the village. Amazing pretty village and equally amazing village pub with restaurant and accommodation. Hadn't booked but no problem. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent - belly pork for me and ploughman's platter for my wife. Great choice of beers and wine, so we were both very happy....

We went there for the second time yesterday for lunch which was the day of the dreaded 'Tour de Yorkshire'...thankfully not full of cyclists and a nice warm welcome! After a fabulous glass of the Pinot Gris (seriously good wine) and a local seasonal ale well cellared we had a delicious lunch...scallops with black pudding bon bons, duck livers on...

We went here for lunch on Saturday with our dog. We were greeted by friendly staff, placed in a lovely room that was deemed dog friendly but didn't feel that we had been pushed in a corner as can sometimes be the case.. The best lamb I have had in a long time, husband had fabulous steak with pepper sauce....

We really didn't know what to expect when we stopped for lunch but were so impressed with the food and the atmosphere that we booked for lunch on our return trip too. Definitely worth another visit and, with a bit of forward planning, our next stop will be for DB&B.

We are local and heard good reviews about the pub from a number of people, so decided to give it a go! We were overall very impressed, the staff were extremely friendly welcoming, especially the owners, who took the time to chat to their customers. The food was excellent, beautiful presentation and very tasty. Couldn't fault the place in anyway...

Booked here for an evening meal on Good Friday. The receptionist informed us they were fully booked in the bar but that they could accommodate us in the restaurant. The staff were friendly and we all commented on how much we enjoyed our meal. Everything was cooked to perfection. We tried to book for Easter Saturday but unfortunately they were...

Lovely quite stay without the kids! We visited here in February for a night away and we weren't disappointed, the room was clean and cosy, beds comfortable, and the evening meal in the restaurant was delicious! Pickering is just 5 minute drive away for a nice walk around the village. Would recommend

We live a few miles away from Sinnington and often use the Fox and Hounds for Sunday lunch and for special meals with visitors. It is a comfortable and attractive traditional country inn with character in a pleasant location. The restaurant is well run with friendly and professional staff. The menu is up market pub food using locally sourced produce,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This attractive 18th-Century former coaching inn in one of the prettiest villages in North Yorkshire offers a warm welcome the minute you arrive. A little loop road just off the A170 Helmsley to Pickering road on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, Sinnington has everything a classic English village should; a maypole, a village green, a 12th century church and ducks feeding on the beck that gently winds its way through the village. There are pretty riverside and woodland walks nearby. Its cosy bar, open fire and hanging hops deliver a rustic and relaxing atmosphere. There's also a contemporary restaurant that boasts oak tables and attractive lighting - ideal for those looking for that slightly more intimate affair. But wherever you choose to sit, you can be assured of a delicious meal. This is a destination for people who enjoy good food cooked well. The three chefs source many of their ingredients locally, making the most of the area's fine meats and fish and home grown vegetables and herbs. The meat is supplied by BW & DJ Glaves of Brompton by Sawdon, Scarborough and all the fish is delivered daily from the east coast. The inn has an AA rosette awarded for culinary excellence which has been maintained for the past 15 years. Typical dishes such as a twice baked Lincolnshire poacher cheese souffle and a platter of fish cakes, little fish and chips, king scallop, salmon and aspargus salad are popular throughout the year. Other options include a Roast breast and leg of Guinea Fowl, sage crushed potato, asparagus and oyster mushroom cream or confit Duck Leg, chorizo, roast pepper and pea risotto, orange and watercress salad. Chefs specials are also offered for both lunch and dinner. Lighter lunches and an early evening supper menu are also offered daily such as a chargrilled minute steak, fries, pepper sauce and salad or onion rings or roast belly pork and black pudding, chive mash, apple sauce and crackling .All puddings are homemade and if you're struggling to decide what to choose, there is an assiette of puddings that has a little bit of everything - puddings change on a daily basis.Fresh bread is baked every morning and the chefs like to try different ingredients for evening dinners complimentary bread and olive. Flavours have included parmesan and chive or chorizo and sun dried tomato. Sundays bring traditional roasts with a range of different options - including beef, pork and lamb served with a Yorkshire Pudding and also a fish and a vegetarian dish. Accommodation is available all year round, and has been awarded 4 Stars from the English Tourism Council. ... more   less
