We stayed two nights in the Orchid Loft. Sheri and Cristiano were amazing hosts; so friendly and accommodating. They arranged an amazing guide for our Maderas hike, which literally begins at the property itself, and they offer a bagged sandwich lunch to take on the...More

The Tarantulas are small and the circumstances they come near the rooms is to get out of the rain. Having said that, the roofs overhang the room to form a 5 ft rain-sheltered area around the rooms. Any right thinking tarantula would only need to walk under this roof overhang to get out of the rain, Added to that the they would have to crawl under the door if they wanted to get in to the room (there is no food for them in there so they wouldn't be inclined to do that) and the space under the door is very very small. However, it does happen but it is rare.
