Mosquitoes, horrible service, lots of smoke, no TV, no mosquito nets, you really don't matter to these folks. I order food and after 30 minutes I got up and left, because I asked what happened and they said it would be a while longer.

My friend and I moved down here after staying at a party hostel for two nights - the first night was great, our room had two beds, fan, and mosquito nets. The second night it rained and so that brought the bugs - which wasn't the hotels fault and the next day all staff had cleaned them up. We had...

Staff is not really friendly, food isn't really good, the stairs to the top bunk bed broke when I tried to climb down in the morning (and honestly - I'm not that fat). The rooms are clean but the whole atmosphere isn't really home-away-from-homey. Also, since it's in between Santo Domingo and Santa Cruz you're kind of in the middle...

My husband and I changed to Casa Istiam from another hostel in Santa Cruz and we were much more comfortable at Istiam! We ended up staying an extra night. Rooms are plain but comfortable, we didn't use he a/c, they serve good food at good prices. Hostel can help you with any tour or anything you want to do on...

We originally intended on staying elsewhere but we ended up here through a haphazard taxi driver. The owner is very friendly, organising us packed lunches, taxis, tours and laundry. The rooms are clean and cool thanks to the breeze. The location was perfectfor us - you could climb the volcano, kayak down the river and reach a variety of great...

We were actually booked at another place on the Merida side but due to road work and a rough road our taxi could not get through. We decided to make the most of it with some time in the Santa Cruz area and stay at Casa Istiam. I heard it was a great location but read mixed things on Trip...

We stayed for 2 nights in a private room (#3) and it was a good affordable stay for this isolated part of the island of Ometepe. The staff was available and the food in the restaurant was very affordable and good for all meals of the day. The rooms were very basic. The breeze was nice and made AC not...

All the previous reviews about rats, bad service and every other complaints aren't trui anymore. The owner and staf providers good service and the room, 2nd Floor, is good, tiny bit clean. No rats, rat noises were detected. We paid 15 dollar, the food is food. The only thing lacking is the location because. It is far away for the...

We got a double room, one of the last ones, and it was extremely stuffy, no mosquito nets, and lots of little gnats (which is common for this entire side of the island). Service was friendly and the location is pretty good but lodging was very uncomfortable. Good for bike rentals, with a few yummy restaurants up the road.
