Prompt friendly airport transfers from Victor and the lovely Vaine, We were in a super superior queen which was roomy and comfortable. Good cooking facilities. We got used to the roosters, dogs barking, waves and cars after the first night, just a part of the Rarotongan experience. Friendly helpful staff, and a resident ginger kitten who loved to come and...

My wife and I stayed only one night at Reef Lodge main complex and moved next day to their rental property about 1 Km along the road. Our one night I must admit was rather noisy with traffic and roosters. However the beach front unit down the road was very quiet. You can hear the sea and the roosters seem...

Our family had a fantastic and relaxing week in the beautiful Rarotonga. Picked up at airport by a lovely lady and taken to lodges (was after midnight) she was cheerful, nothing was a problem. Rangi in the office is wonderful as is Lotu. Rooms were spacious and clean and gave our family freedom on holiday without being crammed in (2...

I have just returned from Puaikura Reef Lodges and stayed in room 7. The room was a great size, 2 single beds in lounge area and a double in a separate bedroom. The room was serviced daily if required. Lotu on reception is really helpful and nothing was a problem, pick up on time shown directly to our apartment by...

As others have mentioned, yes driver dropped us off to our individual beach bungalow we booked handed keys, reception closed till Monday, but this is a small island. Very friendly staff and very helpful, only issues are at the Owners management level, not the staff, Aircon didn't work due to lack of maintenance and by the sounds of it on...

My Mum and I stayed here for 5 nights in May 2014. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful through-out our whole stay! For the price we paid I was not expecting much but when we opened the door on our first night we were very pleasantly surprised! The lodge was extremely clean and was absolutely massive! We had all...

We arrived Saturday night and the driver who brought us from the airport lead us to the room and showed us the key on the table, then left. We found this a bit strange but thought ok, it's late, reception closed. Sunday too. Monday morning we left for Aitutaki and came back on Thursday afternoon, reception already closed again, only...

As a group of four ladies travelling together, we found this facility to be poorly maintained, the photos on the website do not depict what you actually stay in. I have sent the lodge management an indepth email detailing what problems we faced, and do feel it unnecessary to list these here, however, I have yet to receive a reply...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located on the sheltered sunset side of the island, the Black Pearl at Puaikura enjoys an enviable location with a pristine beach across the road, safe for swimming and snorkelling; a magical spot to watch the sunset. A mere 15 minutes to downtown Avarua, ten minutes to the airport and twenty minutes to the eclectic hustle and bustle of Muri. Intimately set in tropical gardens around a central salt water swimming pool The Black Pearl’s 12 rooms are spacious with high vaulted ceilings. A bold, vibrant, sometimes quirky colour palette complements the natural colours of the island. All on the ground level each room has a private patio, a view of either the lush garden or sparkling pool – or both. Kitchen facilities mean you can prepare breakfast, a light lunch or dinner in between dining at a great choice of restaurants close by, many of whom offer a free pick up and drop off service. Or choose to use our poolside BBQ. The Black Pearl at Puaikura is a haven for those not wanting a large hotel with multiple bars and restaurants but rather an intimate environment where the emphasis is on personal service, a place where you can lose yourself in a tropical paradise, at an affordable price. ... more   less
