Stayed here as part of a couple for one night . Check in was nice and easy all the staff were very pleasant and friendly .

We stayed in room 9 which is at the back on the top floor. Although the room was on the small side, it was fine for one night. Deco was lovely and it was immaculately clean. The only gripe is that there is no shower in this room only a bath. There is a shower head on the tap but no hook on wall so it was either a bath and holding the shower about yourself.

Breakfast was really nice and a large portion. We had drinks both at the front and in the beer garden at the back and no complaints.

Overall reasonably priced, well decorated and friendly staff will just make sure I request a room with a shower next time.

We stayed at the Pooley Bridge in on the weekend of the 1st August, the hottest day of the year so far. We knew the rooms have been refurbished so was expecting good quality furniture and decor and we weren't disappointed. We were in room 2 at the rear of the property unfortunately overlooking a flat roof but if we had paid a little more we could have had I room with a veranda at the front but knew what to expect. The room was exceptionally clean and well appointed with an smart tv so if you have a Netflix or Amazon subscription you can watch what you want (just remember to sign out when leaving) The room was a little small. The biggest problem was the sound insulating properties of the ajoining door. The guests in the next bedroom decided to open this causing us both to join out of bed thinking there was someone in the room which of course there wasn't as our door was locked. The guests next door had a dog that proceeded to sniff the bottom of the door keeping us both awake til passed 1 am.

Tea and coffee facilities were enhanced by having fresh milk available on the landing in small containers which is a nice touch.

We went down for breakfast and were greeted by the very friendly and capable staff. The quality of the food was excellent. This experience was only let down by on the amount of flies in the restaurant.
On the first night we stayed for the evening meal at the hotel again the food was good but again let down by the salad my partner had missing olives that were clearly stated on the menu. When we enquired about this we were simply told there were no olives, no compensation offered or discount.

One other thing if staying here be prepared to have to wash you car down if you park under the trees it would appear pterodactyls roost in there.

This could have been an excellent experience. It was let down by a few minor problems. Would definitely stay again. Book direct with the pub as you will receive a 10% discount.

Thank you NickDale_67 for taking the time to write your review. We really appreciate your detailed feedback, and are really happy to read you would revisit us. Apologies we didn’t meant all your expectations during your stay with us. However delighted you enjoyed your breakfast, room and the tea/coffee facilities. When you had visited we had only been open a few weeks with a new team , new refurb , new facilities so it was all still a bit of a learning curve for us all. We appreciate your fair review and have looked at all the points you have made and will see where we can improve in the future. Our priority Is to ensure all guests receive an outstanding experience, while in a safe and welcoming environment. I have passed your feedback onto our General Manager regarding your experience. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon and hope that we can make your good experience the excellent one you hoped for. Thanks again Sarah Pooley Bridge Inn Customer Experience Manager

Lovely 2-night weekend break in January. Arrived around 7pm on Friday evening, check in process really smooth and staff very welcoming, parking on site with plenty free spaces.

Rooms look recently refurbished, finished to a high standard. Really impressed for the room rate paid. Large bed, smart TV, clean and modern bathroom. One definite drawback though of the room though were the thin walls and connecting door to the room next-door. We were in room 1 which has a connecting door to room 2, our neighbours were quite loud, but even if they weren’t a lot could be heard from the room next door. I understand when families are staying over they may want a connecting door between rooms but for other guests it was a bit of a pain. Being woken up at the same time as your neighbours, hearing their conversations, hairdryer etc not ideal. Suggest getting this door blocked up.

We enjoyed breakfast both mornings, good quality produce and helpfuk staff. Cereal, juice and pastry selection, as well as hot drinks and freshly cooked hot breakfast options. Only suggestion for improvement here is to make the coffee fresh, coffee is poured from coffee pot which both mornings meant i was served lukewarm coffee.

We also ate twice on an evening, selecting from the main menu. A good selection of good pub grub, enjoyed what we had both times. Bar/restaurant area clean and pleasant environment to be in, again looks recently refurbished.

Overall, great location and value for money, have stayed in spa hotels with poorer rooms, would definitely return but would be asking for a different room for sure based on noise from next door.

We booked the Pooley Bridge Inn as a one night stay breaking up our journey back from Scotland.
Immediately on arrival we regretted that decision - we should have stayed longer!

Check in was at the bar area and after being given information about the restaurant hours and breakfast, we were directed up to our room on the first floor.
The room was beautifully decorated, with a large comfortable bed, good pillows and a balcony to the front overlooking the beer garden and village.

The en-suite shower room was very modern with excellent water pressure and good quality and size towels were provided.

We hadn't booked a table for dinner and the restaurant was full when we went down, however super woman Nicci wasn't going to let us go hungry and went out of her way to find us a table, eventually offering us a choice of two locations to eat. Despite being very busy, service was quick and the food was excellent.
Breakfast is also served in the restaurant and consists of a buffet of cereals and pastries, with the cooked breakfast prepared to order from a choice of items. Again this was really excellent quality food.
I'd not hesitate to stay at the Pooley Bridge Inn again, it's a true gem.

My wife and I booked in for a meal on April 11, we arrived and were quickly shown to our seats. We had a member of staff ask for our drinks order immediately which was great. 5 minutes later we had another member of staff come over to ask what drinks we would like. We waited another 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive and the girl took our order for food. A starter to share and 2 mains. Half an hour later, our mains arrived, we told the member of staff we were waiting on our starter, she apologised and said she would keep our mains warm and go check where our starter was (nachos) we said we didnt want our mains ‘kept warm’ and asked for our starter to be scrubbed from our bill and we wod just have our mains.

After eating our mains we asked a girl for the bill who said she would get it for us. We witnessed her take 2 other tables their bill, laugh and joke with a male colleague at the bar for roughly 5 minutes, and then go an clean 2 tables where people had dined, and then left. After 15 minutes of waiting for the bill we got up to approach the member of staff at the bar, he was dressed differently so he may have been in charge and explained what had happend, he apologised for the starter issue and also the actions of the girl. We assured him we wouldnt be returning.

We came here for pre drinks as we were booked into another restaurant nearby. We were told at the door we could not go to the bar to order drinks instead we were told inside was full and to sit outside at a table and order online or wait to be served. We were promptly served no problems there however the weather was not too good and it was looking like it would rain. We were quite dressed up as it was my birthday and a very friendly lady who served us the drinks saved us a table with an umbrella as not every table outside had one. We ordered more drinks which again came quickly but then it started to rain just after the next drinks had arrived. My husband was getting wet so we walked to the front of the pub drinks in hand to be told we were not allowed in. The lady wearing glasses was rude and my husband said we just want to finish our drinks and not get wet. We were denied entry and had to stand at the doorway. We went to the sun inn further up the road where we were welcomed by the staff and they let us sit at another customers reserved table until they arrived whilst we enjoyed our drinks.. which were 80p cheaper for the same drinks too. We are not in Covid restrictions no longer and can understand that maybe as this is a busy PUBLIC house they have to have certain rules. If you go on a sunny day brilliant! But be warned once your served your drinks if it rains your going to get wet

We stayed as a couple in December 2021. I write this review as i fondly remember the stay, and was surprised by the 3 and 1/2 rating the Pooley Bridge inn has. For us, it was one of the best stays we've had in a UK hotel.

We arrived by train and bus, from London, prepared for a 4 day trip of walking and exploring. When we arrived the check in was simple and fast. We got to our room and it was perfect.

The room was pristine, the bed was large and comfortable, the bathroom modern and spotless. Which is exactly what we wanted and needed. Honestly, it was considerably more cared for than a lot of hotels I've stayed in, and more akin to the 5 star hotels I've stayed.

The food was fantastic. The included breakfast with our booking ranged from small fry ups, to huge ones. I'm a big guy, and usually have the biggest options, and the larger breakfast they did was incredibly generous. Enough to keep us full till dinner, with a large day of hiking the lakes. Dinner everyday was excellent, with a range of options i felt their fish and chips particularly took the crown.

So would i recommend this hotel? The fact I particularly want to return here for another winter stay for 2022, perhaps even as an annual trip every year for a few days of relaxation, should hopefully provide my answer.

We had a table booked for 1pm for 7 guests (1was a child in high chair)
We arrived early aprix 12:40 but as the inn had not been open that long we thought it was not a problem.
The restaurant and outside was filling up but not mega.
Drinks ordered and then waited at least 20 mins on top for someone to take our food order.
We ordered and then waited over 45mins for starters. We asked where they were and was told "I've just put your order to the top of the pile" after that long!!
Starters arrived but we asked for chilli nachos but got chilli fries ...We weren't prepared to ask and get changed after waiting so long!
Starters eaten and table partly cleared...more drinks ordered.
Again over 40 mins we asked where our mains were. Staff apologies and told be about 10-15 mins.
Food arrived. Lamb kofta over cooked and tough, chicken on the hot sandwich was like rubber. Sunday roast the meat was nit of a good quality, vegetables bland and the yorkshire pudding resembled expanding foan and went to powder when cut!
Burgers were tasty and so was the fries and side orders.
The drinks also took a long time and we had to catch people as they were passing.
If its table service then make sure the staff are attentive!
Management was very apologetic for the wait.. and we took up the discount offer. If she had not suggested one I would have stated about the wait and quality of food.
It is a shame. The pub is lovely with the decor and a good selection of food and drinks.
I appreciate hospialty industries have taken a beating but if you have a big restaurant, large outdoor areas then make sure your kitchen can can cope and you have enough waiting on staff and they are attentive.
In summertime I would expect a long wait!!

They gave us what they called grilled chicken pieces skewered. What we got was boiled chicken bits smothered with peri per sauce. While we got our money back, they never apologised for there pathetic food. Long may Pooley Bridge Inn live - they are milking it from tourist fools like myself. The sandwiches they served were on bread you would never even give 50p for.

Hi alidB7636NG, Sorry you didn't enjoy the house kebab or the ciabatta sandwiches. Seems like you have a very unique opinion of us at The Pooley Bridge Inn. Our prices are competitive within the village with our neighbours. Glad our team sorted your refund out surprised we didn't apologise, but I shall look into your visit a little more once I am on site this afternoon. Sorry you didn't like us. Luckily there are plenty of other restaurants / pubs in the area and I am sure they will be delighted with your custom in the future. Sarah - Pooley Bridge Inn Customer Experience manager
