Waterfoot Caravan Park offers a unique stay with its cozy glamping pods, hives, and a cottage, all receiving high marks for their cleanliness and beautiful decor. The friendly and helpful staff at this well-situated hotel near Pooley Bridge and Ullswater are often commended, although opinions on value and room quality do vary among guests.

Detailed Reviews
We spent 10 days in the touring field at Waterfoot Park and had a wonderful holiday. The site is very well kept and very organised, ensuring all units are pitched with their doors facing the same way. Each roomy pitch has its own water and waste point as well as a TV point. The toilets were clean and covid secure as was the laundry area. The site is large and has a lot of statics but the touring area is separate, peaceful and secluded. The on-site bar in the Mansion was a short walk, it was well stocked and very reasonably priced
The site is close to the beautiful Pooley Bridge and there is a path all the way from the site into the village. We also had 9 days of blistering sun, I’m sure it always shines on site but just to make sure, we have already booked another 6 nights later in the year.

We stayed as a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) in a glamping pod for 4 nights in Aug 22.
The location is fantastic (not far from M6 - driving), walking distance to Ullswater Lake (Pooley Bridge) and lots of local attractions nearby. The pods are situated at the top of the site with plenty of space around them and away from the road/cars.
The pods are compact, they do offer more luxury than camping - the integrated toilet/sink shower room is great as is the kitchen facilities. The beds are not that comfortable and it is close quarters once the sofa bed is made up but that was part of the fun for our short trip. There literally is nothing other than what they describe in the kitchen, you do have to bring all your kitchen things - I forgot a big bowl for fruit and my mug lol! You have to carry your things or use a provided trolly to get them from the car park to the pod (not far) but pack into bags to make it easier.
I would definitely recommend you bring a comfy camping chair for the evenings and storage for kids books/toys/games is limited so bring them in a basket/box.

We have just returned from a weekend at Waterfoot staying in Hive 8. The Hive was very comfortable and clean. The water was always very hot it was really good shower. A nice touch was the tea and coffee provided. The site is in a very good location for walking into Pooley Bridge where there are a good selection of pubs and cafes all serving great food and all following COVID rules. We felt very safe everywhere we went. We also had a drink in the Mansion Bar on the Saturday night which we were able to enjoy outside with a view of the lake. The fish and chip van was also welcome on the Saturday night and great to be able to eat them outside our Hive on the table and chairs provided. Very good site in a great location for some lovely walking. We managed to do two long walks whilst there taking in a good part of the Ullswater way that passes through the site. We hope to be back again some time soon.

Stayed on the touring site for 5 nights for the 1st time (yes! a gamble staying for 5 nights on a new to us site).
We were met at reception at our check in time and taken to the touring field, handed our leaflets and pitch numbers. There are clear instructions on "how to pitch" according to their rules.
Pitch 3 - the ONLY pitch with an over hanging tree which is perfect height for hitting off the top of your caravan even in the gentlest of breeze. Of course the 5 days we stayed it rained and had weather warning winds! So that 1 branch caused 5 nights of hell!
So much so my parents in the next pitch could also hear the wayward branch playing jungle drums on my caravan roof!
The layouts of the pitches are fantastic and give you plenty space for your caravan, awning and car, each with their own fresh water tap and drainage!
The facilities! Well I came equipped to sanitise due to current covid-19 situation, but what I did not expect was to have to clean them before use EVERY TIME. That not being a problem but when I'm paying 5* prices I expect a little better! The door is wedged open permanently (yes this could be less hands touching it) but when the site is in an area plagued with midgies it didn't help the already unclean facilities. I noticed no extra clean downs (apart from mine) and the facilited weren't closed whilst cleaned... This did shock me as how can a single worker cleaner expected to sufficiently clean a block of facilities whilst they are still being used?
Even after the "clean" the toilets and showers were no cleaner. There was dead flies and wasps in the same positions for the full 5 days of our stay!
If I'm paying full price I expect to be fully able to use everything available.
The Mansion bar practiced social distanced very well and served well (even if they were at the top end of the pricing bar)
The fish and chip van is a hit that visits twice a week and worth a visit (but be warned they serve frozen chips) but nice all the same!
These comments were taken to staff direct after the visit and were responded that the facilities were clean... Not everyone's version of clean is the same. I personally (as a previous cleaner myself) wouldn't class this as acceptable standards, it has potential to be a pretty good site if the showers were cleaned better and the door closed.
I'm an outdoorsy person who works with children I know how messy life can get. I'm not expecting 5* star hotel standards for touring pitch facilities but clean.
Would I stay here again? Probably not.
Would I recommend it? Avoid pitch 3 if you like sleep and don't mind either cleaning or using your own facilities.

For the second time we stayed at Captains Cottage in Pooley Bridge in August of this year.
The cottage is very well equipped with up to date furnishings and the garden which runs down to the river was fantastic for kayaking from and enjoying the sun in your deckchairs. The cottage is right in the centre so need to get in the car. Unfortunately we won’t be going back for a third holiday.
Unknown to us the gentleman who owns the derelict house next door has access to it via the drive of Captains Cottage, through a gate in the wall. I was made aware of this when he came up dragging a cement mixer past our cars whilst I was sitting in the sun. He made it know he had been a few times that week but we had been out. I felt my privacy was being invaded and wondered about security.
As you will see from the attached photograph my other complaint was about the mattress in the second double bedroom. As instructed I stripped the bed the day my son left and was shocked to see the stain he had been lying on for a week. I am told the previous occupants had left the bed looking like it hadn’t been slept in so the cleaners stripped it to the mattress cover which they left, missing the stain. The manager had stated in a previous email to me that the mattress cover is changed on every clean! My son had been hesitant in getting into the bed on the first evening as he felt it wasn’t clean going off the hairs on it.
I was offered £200 because of this but when I replied the next time I found that my emails had been blocked to Steve McAvoy. I can’t help think someone has a guilty conscience?
I paid a lot of money for a weeks holiday at Captains Cottage so certainly didn’t expect to have the upset of what I found in the last couple of days of my holiday in the current pandemic.

A nice site with a good range of amenities. We had a touring pitch. Site is in a great location a short walk from Ullswater
The pitches were fairly close together with no form of boundary between them. The toilet block was ok although could have done with slightly more regular cleaning (loo role regularly ran out).
We had a fully serviced pitch, although in this day and age fully serviced should include WiFi, which it didn’t instead charges were extremely expensive for a poor service (it cost nearly £15 for enough data to just watch one football match).

We have just returned home from a three night stay in the Lady of the Lakes cottage situated on Waterfoot Park.
On entering I was absolutely delighted with the accommodation. There was a big picture window looking out onto the private patio and beyond green fields. A good place to watch the rain coming down. The kitchen only had enough place settings to cater for one meal but it wasn’t a problem as the dishwasher was there to put on after every meal and more.
My only complaint is when I went to bed. The double bed was like sleeping on a block of concrete. Consequently I am now home with a bad back after three nights of trying to sleep on it!

We had an excellent three night syat in a Hive cabin.
We were a bit confused as to what we needed to take as this wasn't clear on the website so, we took everything and needed nothing! The cabins have bedding, towels, cutlery, pans etc..
The site is a 20 min walk from Pooley bridge and we would recommend walking boots and a good torch if you plan on walking in the wet and dark as we did.
The cabin was spotlessly clean, the shower was good and the bed was comfortable.
The noise from the adjacent farm could be off putting to some people but it didn't bother us too much (mainly due to the use of earplugs).
The mansion house bar is a bit surreal and serves ok beer and limited pizza; not really our cup of tea.
Overall an excellent break at a good price.

We stayed a week at Waterfoot Park and was blessed to have some fantastic weather ( for April) however it was very cold on an evening. This site is well kept and extremely clean, the site is quite large but not massive but still manages to make the touring area feel small and private. The plots are large hard standing with grey waste, electric hook up but does not accommodate MH black waste dump tank so decanting black waste into a wheeled container then emptying this into disposal unit some 400mm of the ground is a chew.
The site location is perfectly suited for a short walk into the beautiful village of Pooley Bridge which is very small but the pubs and shops are quality. (Picture taken on her walk in)
We will definitely be going again

Booked a fully serviced touring pitch from 24th May for 4 nights. The pitch size was ample with room to spare and not to close to others.
The site is managed very well and was very clean and quiet ( except for the odd occasion the RAF do their fighter plane training over the lake.
Very good location for touring the lakes, especially around Ulleswater and very easy to walk into Pooley Bridge using the sites footpath where you will find good pubs and restaurants.
Also managed to get a drink at the site's mansion house on the last night of our stay (this was the 1st night that it was open) with fantastic views of the lake from the rear terrace.
Overall a very pleasant stay (even though the weather was rather wet) and will definitely book again in the future.

Re park-Not much apart from a small park for children. Very nice bar and terrace, you will have to check opening times. Pizza good but slightly expensive. The village is a 10 min walk away, a few shops/pubs, take a short walk around lake side for peddloes boats. Good for dogs. Aria force waterfall good, but need sturdy shoes. Ulswater steamers good but expensive. Ulleswater town not much to do, walks good though. I think the Alpaca/garden centre is still open. You do need a car if you want to go any distance. Ann
10 minutes to waters edge but access to water probably 20 mins which takes you to Pooley Bridge.
