I can only recommend a stay at Le Cariol. The hosts are absolutely sweet; if you like art, the place is a paradise and Marthijn de Groot may show you his best creations. He's a great artist anyway! The house has been beautifully renovated and you can just enjoy the peaceful area. Irene, the hostess, has a lot of tips...

We rented both rooms in the main building for a week to house three adults and two small kids, and we really enjoyed the stay. The house and the grounds around are perfect for both people with kids and people that just want to get away and relax. I could go on for quite a while about the rooms, the...

We stayed at this wonderful place to attend our very good friends amazing wedding, don't get put of though as this is not typical wedding venue, in fact it was their first one ( and more of many I hope) le Cariol is run by an artist and his partner , supported by a couple of staff, all of who...

We are back from a lovely stay (3 nights) at Le Cariol. Where to start to describe this lovely and beautiful place. We arrived in the afternoon and were warmly welcomed by Marthijn (the owner) with a glass of wine and he also gave us a tour of the house and his atelier. We booked room Cote Jardin with a...

We spent 3 weeks travelling through France in August and were lucky enough to spend 5 days of our tour in this beautiful and idyllic place. On arriving at Le Cariol, having driven through rolling fields of golden sunflowers and pretty medieval villages, we were overwhelmed by the picture-perfect setting of this beautiful house. The lovely stone building, with provencal-style...

My boyfriend and I just got back from wonderful 3 nights at Le Cariol and cannot fault this place. I looked for ages on the internet for something like this, a quiet place with a boutique hotel feel (but with a Chambre d'hotes pricetag) and this really did not disappoint. The level on detail given to everything really made it...

It's been the second year we stop by Le Cariol for few days, but this year with our 7 months daughter. I must say this is like home, the place is great and very well decorated, the host are very nice and very welcoming. Our stay at Le Cariol was divine. Having had a rather busy business trip with numerous locations around Europe we were really looking to relax and unwind. We caught the TGV from Paris and then drove from Angouleme which was fun. Upon arriving at Le Cariol relaxation and bliss seeped into our bodies! Having stayed at many luxury resorts and...

We have stayed at Le Cariol a few times so I'm confident now to share what I think are replicable experiences: in short, wonderful. This is truly a unique place. We travel extensively for both business and holiday and we keep coming back to this "petite chateau" in France's gastronomy heart... It's a classic, authentic chateau but completely modern inside....
