I've passed the sign for this lodge many times over the years, and finally had the opportunity to stay over when we booked a business conference there - it was the perfect spot! Admit I think I had one of the rooms on the newer end, not sure what the others are like - it was huge and luxurious, large...

It is beautiful hotel, with huge open lands full of grass and birds floating around on it. Rooms are big, with all amenities. Food has a variety and taste is good. Staff is courteous and responsive. Must go.

Beautiful grounds. Helpful and attentive staff. Luxury rooms with beautiful views, extremely comfortable beds, dstv/satellite tv, latest coffee machines, spacious and decorated beautifully. Excellent restaurant. Nice pub and swimming pool. Little shop for gifts or snacks. I would highly recommend this hotel. There is a lovely spa there too.

I was here for 3 days for a meeting. The hotel is beautiful and nicely planned. The rooms are spacious and well set up. The meeting room and facilities were good. The gardens are just amazing and you can get lost in them, like Alice in Wonderland! The restaurant serves delicious dishes, not one of the main courses was anything...

Would go back there anytime. Wifi signal getting weak in rooms at far end of corridor. Restaurant serving good food. Service could get long on...

We have spend a night at Makaranga on a business trip and would definitely be back for a more leisurely break. The service was acceptable and the rooms comfortable with a beautiful view of the extensive gardens. The breakfast was good but I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the dinner.

Stayed for only one night, good size rooms, well equipped but very warm for me. The air con wasn't great (or I couldn't work it properly-fan was noisy) breakfast was superb and all the staff were very helpful and polite. Will be using again when I visit Durban.

We had a fabulous visit. I took 14 people to visit we had the set lunch and it was excellent, quick and lovely staff. Then a beautiful walk round the stunning gardens with so many orchids and cycads. Can't wait to visit again soon and may be stay the night.

Our party of nine had lunch there last week. Service was slow as the restuarant was very busy. Two of us had the Veal which was terrific, another the steak, and the rest enjoyed pizza! This is a wonderful place for a family to enjoy the outdoors. The gardens are beautiful. The swimming pool area was teaming with youngsters enjoying...
