Great, clean, and quaint little cabin, right on the harbor, We had one of our few days of rain here, and what a great place to rest and catch up. Madonna gave us a tour of her stage which enhance our understanding of life on Fogo Island. Even had laundry facilities to use. Madonna was another Newfoundlander who made our vacation memorable.

Madonna and Leo are excellent contacts --there when you need them, but respect your privacy. Madonna was very helpful with local information. The much appreciated fresh baked goods, typical of Nfld., hit the spot. The cottage is quite adequate, but not luxurious. Very clean.

We stayed in the Cottage, which is self-contained. The cottage is an old fisherman's residence with a landing out the back. The cottage was more than ample for our needs. There are excellent views of the harbour from the cottage. We were also fortunate to see a few icebergs out to sea; coming from Queensland Australia this was a highlight of the trip, Our hosts Leo and Madonna were most generous and provided much information about Fogo Island. Joe Batt's Arm is fairly central to most places on Fogo Island with the ferry terminal about 40 minutes by car away; Tilting about 10 minutes and the village of Fogo about 20 minutes. It was worthwhile having a few days on Fogo Island, It is a unique place in its self.

We stayed at the Landwash Friday night and it was fabulous!!! Old but very clean. It took me back to my childhood years for sure. Madonna & Leo are the nicest people you’ll ever meet. They made us feel so welcomed there. The homemade bread & jam was sooooo good!!! I sure recommend calling them if going to Fogo .

We stayed 2 nights at the Landwash Lodging. The view is spectacular and Madonna and Leo were fabulous. The fresh bread, homemade jam, and eggs were very welcome. The cottage had all sorts of supplies provided. Lots of choices of coffees and teas. Would return except we live on the other side of the country! Thanks for a wonderful stay .

This little cottage had everything we needed and a more. A perfect location on the water with a lovely view of the village. The cottage had everything we needed. It was clean with everything in good working order. It was easy to adjust the temperature as we needed and was a cozy comfortable place to stay. My son & I LOVED the homemade bread and jam! Madonna and Leo are warm friendly hosts who showed us their fishing stage and shared information about the area. A wonderful, convenient place to stay on Fogo Island.

We arrived on the island with intentions of leaving the same day. It was too beautiful to leave! I called Madonna and she had a salt box house available. Beautiful accommodations and hosts! We'll return!!

Great location and the view from the deck is amazing.. The cottage lacks finish, it is put together with bits and pieces of stuff . On the comfort factor it rates low... The bbq i would not use. On the plus side it has a lot of things we would need ... coffee was well appreciated. ...... Good location, great view,, good host ,,,, just the cottage needs a total rebuild....

If you ever heard of the legendary kindness of Newfoundlanders, you would still be pleasantly surprised by Madonna and Leo. Their hospitality should be protected by UNESCO if there was a category for this. When Madonna saw, how much our daughter loved her home-made jam, she gave her an extra bottle and a freshly-baked raisin bread along with some unique hand-painted rocks as a gift. We stayed in their historic and cozy soap-box house and enjoyed the friendly ambiance. If your time allows ask Madonna and Leo to tell you about the historic beauty of their place and the stage they still use for fishing. The landscape is beautiful beyond description.
