Fogo Island Inn

Traveller (486)
Room & Suite (112)
Travellers' Choice 2018 Winner
Certificate of Excellence
Fogo Island Inn sits on an Island, off an Island, at one of the four corners of the Earth. Every one of our 29 one-of-a-kind guest rooms and suites has dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto the wildest and most powerful ocean on the planet, located less than 100 feet from your organic natural-fibre dream bed. Most rooms have a wood burning fireplace stove; all are furnished with quiet luxuries and handmade furniture and quilts - a stimulating relief from the numbing uniformity of modern times. Built on the principles of sustainability and respect for nature and culture, the Inn belongs to the community. And all surpluses from the operation are reinvested in the community to help secure a long-lasting resilience for Fogo Island, Newfoundland. Recent recognitions: Travel + Leisure’s Best Resort Hotel, Canada 2017 & 2018; TripAdvisor Traveler's Choice Award, 2015-2018; Travel + Leisure's 100 Best Hotels in the World, 2016-2018; Conde Nast Traveler Gold List, 2015 & 2016.

My husband and I spent four nights at Fogo Inn in "berry season" this fall - end of September/early October. The island is a very special place, and the story of the Fogo Island Inn, the Shorefast Foundation, and how it came to be is quite remarkable. As avid outdoor/nature

The Fogo Inn is a unique and innovative place that is not only beautiful, but provides a deep connection of place—Fogo Island, a remote coroner of Newfoundland. Though remote, it’s more than worth the trip. The landscape is stunning. The locals are warm and enjoy recounting

I know there are larger rooms than the one we had but we booked a King as it was just 2 of us. They do have larger rooms but did not see one. There was a family there when we were there and they do advertise that they can accommodate families. If you reach out to them, they are very responsive.

Does the full board include wine & cocktails?
Right On! We are planning a special Anniversary/Birthday cruise and as costly as that is, NO Alcoholic drinks are included in that fare either...this seems to be the standard norm for high end travel. (Lucky we do not really drink.)The only place we ever went where the drinks were included was to a Sandel’s Resort in the Caribbean. Fogo Island Inn is a high priced category destination: it is a lifetime experience not to be missed: once you are already there, if you need a drink: just go ahead and buy it !

How much would a helicopter cost from gander to the inn?
Hello Denjo01, Thank you for your question. Pricing for Helicopter transfers from Gander can be obtained through the reservations team. They have assisted many of our guests with such requests and are very knowledgeable.

What is the dress code? Is it very casual, even for dinner?
There is latitude, of course, but this is a very special place and experience for all of your fellow guests. Might consider that fact when deciding what to wear.
