Rarely do bucket list entries live up to the mental image. Fogo Island Inn dies. We are already planning our return trip, Food, location, facility, room, falling asleep to the sound of the ocean, could not be more wonderful,
My husband and I relished our five-night stay at the Fogo Island Inn, which was the most pampering, elevated trip of our lives. We experienced deep relaxation in our cozy Newfoundland Room; savored exceptional local cuisine, from partridgeberry tarts to sumptuous cod and snow crab to melt-in-your-mouth potato bread; enjoyed invigorating hikes and birding along the ocean; and appreciated Inn-specific activities, such as soaking in the rooftop hot tubs (not to be missed!), watching documentaries in the cinema, and cuddling with Break, the Inn’s Newfoundland dog. One of our most memorable experiences was an island tour led by Clem, a lifelong local with a sparkling personality and deep knowledge of the island’s history and culture. Ultimately, this place and its people radiate joy, and we look forward to returning someday.…
The architecture of the Inn, as you approach it, is stunning! But the real treat is inside and for miles around. Every room has a stunning view of the ocean and the rocky shore. Coming down to dine in the full vista dining room, we were always greeted with the warm, friendly faces of the front desk and dining room staff. We stayed for 4 nights, spending our days hiking the trails, then having a beautiful locally-sourced meal, followed by a dry sauna and hot tub combo you can book at the front desk. So much to see and experience. We'd love to come back one day. Couldn't recommend more!
Hotel is modern but Cosy at the same time, room was Spacious, extra beds for more guests, everybody super friendly, Organisation exzellent for example our car was brought to the rerry Terminal the evening before we left so we didnt have to bother. Everything so nicely arranged, all the little Extras. Great bathroom, too, perfect place !
We had an amazing 3 night stay at the Inn and everything about it was fantastic - the rooms, the food, the activities. But most notable is the amazing hospitality - not only at the Inn but also all over the Island. The tour with a community host is a must! Gerrard was terrific - energetic, full of knowledge, and super friendly. The crab dinner was also a highlight. And all the amazing hiking trails, which was a focus for our getaway. We hope to be back again soon : )
I had the honour of a 2 night stay at this unique, beautiful place. From the moment of arrival the flavours, scenery and ambiance totally reflect the kindness and courage of the people of Newfoundland. Truly a unique and life moment. Until we meet again.
Clean, homey, the staff couldn’t do enough for you……whatever you asked for or wanted to do, they would make it happen. The food was excellent, compliments to the chef for his innovative meals made with the fruit or vegetable of the season. We absolutely loved the time we spent there.
In early October,2021,still dealing with Covid restrictions and wanting to travel,my husband planned a fabulous vacation to NFLD,where we spend 2 beautiful days and 3 nights at the fabulous Fogo Island Inn,located in Joe Batt’s Arm,Fogo Island. This beautiful Inn is an experience all should enjoy. From the moment you put your vehicle in park ,the hospitality begins and continues right up to the moment you depart from this glorious place. The comfort and the warmth of the staff and Inn makes you feel like you are home. My husband and I cannot wait to return to this beautiful Inn and the wonderful community it is located in. I hope people have the chance to spend time at this fabulous retreat ,to recharge your batteries that is life. Life is good at Fogo Island Inn and on Fogo Island.…
It is difficult to find the exact words to express how I feel when on Foga Island and with its residents. But I can say that whatever deity you may recognize is surely smiling upon the people of Fogo and the magnificent place they occupy, including the truly inspired Fogo Island Inn. I also feel blessed that they so generously and enthusiastically share it, including the Inn, and other fine works of the Shorefast Foundation, with all folks who choose to come visit and experience, with open eyes and minds!
Great experience all around. The service, the cleanliness, the activities and the views were stunning. I can’t say that the food was outstanding but we enjoyed our meals because each one was a unique experience. Other than the crab meal, nothing stood out for me. Love the concept of the rooms and building. A once in a lifetime experience
