I should start by saying I read many of the other 17 reviews on Timara Lodge, and almost all no longer are current because new ownership assumed the property December 2015. The new owner Barry is quite gregarious and chatty, extremely proud to show off the exquisite , magnificent gardens and lake on the property with a personal tour. This... More

This was our third trip to Timara. The website still shows Louis - the world class chef as the host. He is not there anymore. We thought the meals the first two times were some of the best food we had ever eaten - truly extraordinary. This time oh what a letdown. If you had not eaten Louis food this... More

Lake Timara Lodge holds an extremely high rating on Trip Advisor, on Andrew Harper Alliance and in many other notable world luxury traveller publications. The whole team at Timara are so very disheartened by this review done by one of our repeat guests. Management, the host and the executive Chef were totally unaware of this guest dissatisfaction. Whilst here this... More

This lodge is well located for the Marlborough wine region, and set in beautiful grounds. Our room along with the communal areas, was comfortably and tastefully furnished and decorated-perfect to relax in. The meals are delicious, cooked by a talented chef and the communal dining was a pleasant experience. We were looked after very well by Deborah and Pamela. If... More

Lake Timara Lodge has only 4 rooms and is located in one of the most spectacular gardens one can imagine. All flowers are huge, there seems to be a micro climate or special vibrations. Its story is also interesting and related to the building of the railway. Artwork is also present in the gardens and a rowing boat invites you... More

The website for Timara Lodge almost doesn't do it justice. The house and gardens are absolutely stunning. We were lucky enough to stay in one of the two suites overlooking the lake which I would highly recommend for the best views. Most importantly when you stay at Timara, make time to just walk through the gardens or relax in the... More

Stayed at Timara Lodge for 3 nights in May. It was a great experience, combining warmth and comfort with a touch of luxury. The staff were great and the special dinner the chef cooked one night was outstanding with food from the region matched with Spy Valley wines. Timara is in a beautiful setting with large established gardens set around... More

This was an exceptional find. Everything from the welcome by Debbie to our farewell was perfect. Food was outstanding as cooked by Louis, the chef cum manager, who also recommended the excellent wines. The grounds were well manicured with good opportunities to walk and relax. The suite was very comfortable. The general ambiance was one of being a house guest... More

Excellent does not reflect the quality of this lodge. Located in the depth of the vineyards and wineries of Marlborough, Lake Timara Lodge oozes elegance and charm yet all with a simplicity and warmth. All members of the staff were absolutely marvellous with loads of suggestions and help. This lodge was built in the 1920s and has four comfortable suites.... More

We have just had the most fantastic weekend at Timara Lodge. Everything about it was perfect. The service was incredible - everyone was so helpful and professional and nothing was too much trouble. Exceptional 3 days spent at Timara Lodge with 7 others. Louie's food was a standout, as well as the incredible level of service. Deborah and her team, made us feel very welcome, nothing was a problem. Timara Lodge is set amongst a haven of daffodil filled fields, spring blossoms and immaculate grounds & a lake. The birdsong in the morning... More
