Great location, clean and comfortable room. The lady is welcoming. The inn restaurant does not offer lunch. On the other hand we had dinner and supper and it was very good especially fisch and chips (10% off). There is no refrigerator and coffee maker in the room but in a common area.

Cute, quiet, air conditioned rooms. The bathroom needs updating. Avoid room #5, the room next to the coffee maker. Housekeeper is a hard working gem! History infuses this hotel. Great location near The Buzz and Lac Brome Books, both wonderful!

Room Tip: If possible, avoid rooms on the street side and Room 5. First level is noisy from the restaurant...

Nothing terrible about the room or the inn, but nothing wonderful either. It's a quirky historic building. The front desk is up a rather steep set of steps, so it's a hassle to lug all your luggage up there. No elevator. The bathroom was modernized about 20 years ago but not updated since. The furnishings were also about 20 years old, if not more. It was ok for one night. The AC worked and kept us cool during a hot night. It was dog friendly which was a big plus for us. I wouldn't go out of my way to stay in Knowlton but if you need to for one night, this is an ok choice.

We chose this auberge for the location which was quaint and beautiful. Firstly, we arrived 30 minutes before the room was ready, walked up the multiple stair cases with our suitcases and no one was in reception. Finally someone came, and we were not allowed to leave our suitcases with them for those 30 minutes. The manager did not bother to show us where the room was (please note that this is an old building with multiple levels and stairs and a restaurant) We then had to bring back down the suitcases again to the car. We then went to our event, and coming back at around 11pm. Not knowing where the room was, only the general directly, we brought back the suitcases up stairs. No doors were labeled at all, so we took the door we assumed was correct and ended up being locked in a fire escape unable to get out. We then proceeded to pound on what we thought was the restaurant door because it was impossible to go back down the stairs due to all the beer cases and barrels blocking the exit. Someone who was closing up the restaurant heard us and let us out and guided us to our room. We were very fortunately not to have been trapped in an area that was meant to be an emergency escape. The next morning at 9am there was no one at the reception to assist us. We wrote to the auberge multiple times with no response about our incident. The staff member was entirely unhelpful.

We have checked in on February 27 for one night.
The check out policy is at 11 am the next day.
At nine thirty am, while I was still comfortably in my underwear drinking coffee , the house keeper open the door widely staring at my boyfriend and me . Our reaction was total surprise, not pleasant as one might guess. Her way of apology was “ oh you are still here”. We kindly told her that yes we were and we would not be checking out till eleven.
At 10:15 ( thank God, this time we both were dressed) ,using her own key she swung the door widely open . This time the announcement was that she was advised we were gone.
Knocking on a closed door prior to entering is a sign of culture and manners in any situation and at the hotel industry it a MUST.
Naturally we were extremely irritated for being treated like that after paying 155$ for a bed , questionably clean bathroom and meagrely strong coffee that need to be taken from a common shared space.
Mind you the housekeeper was not aware about mandatory policy of wearing a mask.
When we voiced the facts to Johanne at the reception , her reaction was “ so what exactly you are complaining of ?”.
We left for hiking .
Later once in Montreal late I realized I left my pretty expensive jacket in the closet . I called at the number provided on the website . The night guard answered and told me that he would check in the morning
At 6:40 the next day he called and told me that he found it in the room.
Such a nice person and human being . That information puzzled me as of why the house keeper was rushing us to leave when there was no one to take the room.
Is the cleaning protocol ignoring checking the closets ?
Usually there should be a 24/48 between guests
I would never ever recommend this place even for one third of the price that we paid.

A lovely place right in the center of a small historic town. Built in the middle of the 19c this place has appropriately squeaky floors, but is immaculately clean, comfortable and is not haunted! It is spartan but comfortable with a good resto downstairs and every amazing antique store feet away. Comfy beds, great linens and towels. Say hi to doggo Charlie who loves a petting.

Although perfectly located in the township of Knowlton for Louise Penny fans, I would not recommend staying here if helpful and friendly owners are important to you. In a small establishment as is this one, guests would expect that owners be available for helpful and friendly information regarding the area. These owners were rarely seen and not the least interested or helpful. Instead we relied on their friendly and warm maintenance staff to provide needed assistance.

Great location near many ski trails. The room had lots of space, super clean and overlooked the park across the street. Extra blankets and pillows were in the room to use.
The restaurant had a breakfast special with local duck which was delicious. Also highly recommend the salmon for dinner. Staff were very fast and good with orders for a bigger group.

We went there for dinner on Saturday September 9th. We were served by Geneviève with super good and excellent service. It was a most pleasant meeting, our waitress had great interpersonal skills and made us laugh a lot. I tell you this girl is a bomb of happiness, she could easily be a comedian. If you go there ask to be served by Geneviève and you will be pleasantly surprised. Thank you again for this wonderful hospitality. See you soon. Jacques and Rosanne

They supply soap and small toiletries. I don't drink coffee, so I don't remember if they have one in the room.
