The hotel has lots of charming places. The Rui Paula restaurant is a MUST. Wine list is amazing and very diverse. Breakfast just seems everything is home made by a granny Take a few minutes and get to the primary fountain of Vidago sparkling water.

Fantastic hotel, beautiful building, stunningly and sumptuously decorated. Staff cannot do enough for you. Lovely spa facilities and fabulous food and wine. Go if you get the chance but may need a car if you want to venture further afield. We were happy to spend 3 days making the most of the hotel facilities and grounds. Go if you can... More

I discovered this gem of a hotel a few years ago as a LHW member and now eagerly plan visits as the midpoint of my over-land journeys when vacationing on Portugal's Atlantic Coast. Steeped in the history of the final days of th country's nobility, there is good reason why the building seems to be an immaculately preserved relic from... More

We spent a week at this hotel in October 2016 on a half board package. We were in a classic room which is the cheapest but was still a good size with ample storage and a lovely view out to the front of the hotel. Breakfasts were good although the hot food was a little uninspired but was more than... More

Given its large premises, this is quite a small hotel with only 70 rooms. This provides for a luxurious sense of spaciousness, yet the public areas (two restaurants, bar, and lounge) feel quite intimate in spite of their belle epoque grandeur and 5* elegance. The de facto Manager, Jaoa (John) is a born hotelier, courteous yet friendly, but the Head... More

We stayed for four nights and were very impressed by the hotel: beautiful room overlooking the fountain, very helpful staff, a wonderful spa and excellent food. It was also extremely good value for money as part of an inclusive deal. Hope to go back someday.

One of the best places to relax. Exceptional renovation of an old palace. In spite of the huge size of the building, the hotel is very cozy and comfortable. The staff couldn't more helpful and nice. And they can provide transportation to visit the surroundings. The garden is so big and beautiful that you can spend a lot of time... More

We traveled as a family with 3 kids age 8, 11 and 14 and stayed 5 fabulous nights. The staff were amazing and tended to our every need, under the watchful eye of the hotel manager Joao Ferreira, who I must say made our stay made even more memorable, right down to arranging lunch boxes for our trip back to...
