What a fabulous place Rob has, if you're looking for tranquillity and a piece of nature this is the place for you. We stayed at the lodge in November 16 as part of our tour around South Africa with our 12 week old baby. Rob was extremely welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. We liked the lodge so much...

For a comfortable stay in a remote location with simple luxury, tasty home-cooked meals and personal attention by host Rob and his family, Baviaans Lodge should be your choice. The lodge offers peace and quiet in the foothills of the Baviaanskloof at start of the 4x4 route into the actual Baviaanskloof. The site is off grid, relying on solar and...

If you want a good 4x4 experience in superb scenery then stay with Rob Louw at his Lodge. Rob is a personable host and both interesting and thoughtful. If you cannot live without electricity then skip this lodge. The setting is unique and the feeling of getting away from it all makes it something that will be etched in your...

Baviaans Lodge is very rustic and basic accomodation but totally adequate. It offers wonderful attentive service from Rob, the owner. The food was tasty and well prepared. Rob took us on a super drive through the reserve and surrounding farms that lasted several hours and his knowledge of the history of the area and the wild flowers impressed us. If...

We spent three nights here during our two-week Karoo roadtrip holiday, and we could easily have spent longer enjoying the blissful peace and quiet. Baviaans Lodge is beautifully positioned just outside the BaviaansKloof Nature Reserve. The cottages are cosy and well separated from each other, so you are only aware of the other guests at mealtimes, or if you see...

My wife and I spent two nights at Baviaans Lodge whilst travelling between the Garden Route and the Baviaanskloof Reserve. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable, and Rob went out of his way to make sure we were well looked after. The trip to the bushman paintings cave was very interesting and a pleasant, not too strenuous walk. The meals...

What a wonderful remote and beautiful setting. Amazing bird and plant diversity with many hikes from hillsides, mountains to kloofs and even bushmen caves. One of the very few places where one can truly escape civilisation. Rob is a great host that goes out of his way to care for his customers. Thank you for a great time!

I came here with my boyfriend's family for his mom's 60th birthday. The road leading to the lodge was exciting with beautiful scenery and the odd animal popping out from time to time. We arrived in our rooms, and we were shocked to find that there was no electricity and no internet. Panic! Once we got over the fact that...

We stayed at Robs place for 4 days and still it wasn't enough. Great food, excellent accommodation in the heart of nature! Nice mountains, beatiful nature, mountain kloofs with refreshing rock pools and bushmans paintings.

Rob was a superb host and his meals were divine. The setting of the Lodge, in the middle of the mountains are excellent. The buildings and rooms are in need of some attention but was however still acceptable.
