The great thing about bathroom in a standard double room with sea view is that it actually has both a shower and a tub. But. Sorry about it, however I need to stay honest and a snob (cause I am one, really). When you flush water down the tub, some of it (or from some place else, ew) rises from the shower drain. With some tiny stones or bits of mud in it.
The sea here is very dirty. I dont know whether it is always like that but when I was staying at Maestral I was really disappointed. And it is both natural (leaves and crust from trees nearby, which Im fine with) and trashy (plastic wrap, cigarettes butts).
To be honest, I wasn’t expecting too much from this place in terms of obeying the covid19 rules, but I was rather pleasantly surprised – every staff member is wearing a mask. Not a single guest though.
The overall impression is actually ambiguous. There are obvious advantages and things you get for the money you pay. It is undoubtedly a very good hotel. But at the same time there are those little things that bring you down a bit.
Overall, great service, hotel, additional amenities and programme that for sure will make your stay memorable at this hotel!

They put very small beach umberellas (only one person could sit in shadow the other was already half on the sun, and you can not move the umberellas).
The smell in bathroom from the canalization was all the time there- This you can not afford when you charge 400€ for a room.
They were defenitely “employing” way too much trainees instead of professional people and you could see that in their service.
Also the prices they put for the cleaning of clothing , ironing are ridiculous. This hotel is defenitely a rip off for what they offer and thats why I would not recommend you to come here.

Honestly the place would deserve at least a 4 star rating, but sadly enough the shameful monkey business with sunbed reservations conducted by the beach staff was a real disappointment.
To be more exact, at 08.00 am - official opening time of the private hotel beach most of the frontrow / beachfront sunbeds were already reserved. Namely, reserved by hotel guests, so I was told by the beach staff. However this is absolutely not true! While having my early morning coffee overlooking the beach, this morning I saw only one guest on the beach taking a frontrow sunbed. All other frontrow sunbeds were in fact reserved / marked by the hotel-beach staff only with clean towels without any small usual personal property like books or suncreams.
What's the purpose of this behaviour? Most probably, the so called "reserved" sunbeds being intended for renting to visitors, not hotel guests.
I believe that the hotel management is already well aware of this very obvious "sunbeds business". Still I would strongly recommend them to consider taking serious action.
Worth mentioning during COVID-19: we felt safe as hygiene was on high level and we could keep proper distance throughout our stay there.
