We spent a week here in August 2024. I stayed in this hotel with my parents back in 1977. It's a five-star idyll just outside the otherwise dramatically unattractive Budva built up since my last visit over 45 years ago. The hotel is beautifully located in a bay (only in the south is the picture somewhat clouded by a huge concrete ruin of a planned hotel construction). The hotel is tastefully decorated in Midcentury style both in the general area and in the rooms. The service in the hotel is good but partially expandable for five stars. The private hotel beach is large and very nice. At breakfast, which you can enjoy on the terrace with beautiful views, you have a very wide range of food. In the evening you can dine well on this terrace or watch the sunset in the adjacent bar. A large proportion of guests are relatively noisy, constantly talking into full-tone mobile phones and smoking everywhere - a strange mix. Otherwise but highly recommended (a car should be had).

I stayed at standard double room, which is basically what you expect from every European hotel: rather small but has everything 2 people may need while staying. Water, by the way, is not provided (only small ones in the minibar for a fee), which is quite an obvious expectation from a 5-star resort.

The great thing about bathroom in a standard double room with sea view is that it actually has both a shower and a tub. But. Sorry about it, however I need to stay honest and a snob (cause I am one, really). When you flush water down the tub, some of it (or from some place else, ew) rises from the shower drain. With some tiny stones or bits of mud in it.

The sea here is very dirty. I dont know whether it is always like that but when I was staying at Maestral I was really disappointed. And it is both natural (leaves and crust from trees nearby, which Im fine with) and trashy (plastic wrap, cigarettes butts).

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting too much from this place in terms of obeying the covid19 rules, but I was rather pleasantly surprised – every staff member is wearing a mask. Not a single guest though.

The overall impression is actually ambiguous. There are obvious advantages and things you get for the money you pay. It is undoubtedly a very good hotel. But at the same time there are those little things that bring you down a bit.

High recommendation for the hotel and the area even during non summer months. Even though we stayed while having rainy weekend everything was beyond any expectation. The service, from sales and reservations to room service was exceptional and we felt more than welcome at the hotel. We celebrated 30th birthday and everything was so lovely organized by the hotel staff. Also we highly recommend Thai massage and we enjoyed walking in the area of the hotel. Nevertheless, the hotel is highly equipped with additional, free of charge masks, disinfectants at every common and separate rooms available for use by hotel guests or visitors.
Overall, great service, hotel, additional amenities and programme that for sure will make your stay memorable at this hotel!

Not much of an Inn, of course, not five stars. Pulls between 3 and 4. To go from building to building you have to use two elevators, and there are no signs of how to do it along the corridors, you wander like a computer game. In room 3303, where he was staying, there were small ants crawling, and there were a lot of them, the shower hose was leaking, I bet it's still leaking, called the reception, no use. They write that they have "exceptional service" haha" what the hell is "exceptional service", there has been no regular tea for breakfast for 4 days, and it is in a five-star hotel how they position themselves (probably 5 stars took credit for themselves). I'm absolutely not kidding. There was bergamot tea, with different additives, but the usual-simple tea just wasn't there!!! They must be having problems with supply planning or logistics. At the same time, the managers of the restaurant simply remained silent and did not answer the questions, failing to solve the problem at all for four days. They call it "exceptional service." In bars everything is charged 5-6 times the shop price, and they write that bringing their own drinks and food is prohibited, good thing they had the intelligence not to check on guests. Of course, the nature and sea of Montenegro level the mediocre service in this hotel, and in general the country. I get the impression that tourists here are being ripped off everywhere and at every turn. Crooked taxi drivers, restaurateurs and bartenders, Vacation Package agencies with disgusting service, underdeveloped infrastructure, etc. Shops, even chain stores, can count, restaurants will bring cheap, sour wine under the guise of expensive, the Sun&Fun tour agency that served us in Montenegro, on the way to the hotel, just left us on the track, not stopping at the hotel, awake at night, in the heat had to walk 600 meters to the hotel with suitcases. Guide Tatiana, when asked to take you to the hotel, brazenly answered you do not have an "individual transfer" for which they cost 180 euros, although a normal taxi from Podgorica airport to the hotel costs 60 euros, would know better to take a taxi. At Podgorica airport, the queue for toilets is everywhere, which smart guy has come up with toilets with two or three booths in a place of mass gatherings is an incomprehensible mystery to me. There was a line of 15 in the ladies' bathroom. But nature and ecology are of course just super, for its sake and the texture of the sea, it is worth visiting this location at least once.

Obviously, MR&C is not a 5-star hotel. I would rate it between 3 and 4 stars. To get from block to block you have to use two elevators, pretty confusing since there are no proper signs on the way along corridors. In room 3303, where I stayed, there were a lot of ants crawling around, the shower hose was leaking, I bet it's still leaking, I called the reception, it was no use. They recon they’ve got “exceptional service”-strictly for the birds. What hell of ‘exceptional services’ if even for breakfast there was lack of the usual English breakfast tea for 4 days, and this in a five-star hotel??? LOL. This hotel probably awarded itself a five-star rating. There was earl grey tea, tea bags with variety of additives, but no just ordinary english breakfast tea!!! They probably have problems with supply planning or logistics. Restaurant managers were completely useless keeping silence not answering the questions and not solving the problem for four days. In general, I’ve got the impression that tourists in Montenegro are ripped off everywhere and at every step. Cheating cab drivers, restaurateurs and bartenders, travel agencies with poor service, underdeveloped infrastructure, etc. In stores, even chain stores, they can easily cheat, in restaurants they may bring cheap, sour wine under the guise of expensive. At Podgorica airport there is always a queue for toilets everywhere, what a moron designed public toilets with 2-3 cabins is really beyond my comprehension. In the women's toilet the queue was not less than10 people. Despite poor infrastructure, the nature and ecology are still super, for the sake of it and the sea, it is worth probably visiting this location once.

Dear Mr. Dmitriy Pletnyov, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. Regarding the issue you encountered with the room, we would like to clarify that our hotel does not usually allow food and drinks to be brought into the rooms, as this can sometimes lead to hygiene issues, such as attracting insects. That is why we have a strict policy that food is not permitted to be brought into the hotel from outside for health and safety reasons. Since our hotel is surrounded by wide, beautiful greenery, it is quite natural that leaving food in the rooms may attract insects. We apologize if this policy caused any inconvenience during your stay, and we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and comfort for all our guests. We also understand your concern about the availability of English tea. While there was indeed a shortage, it certainly did not last for four days but rather for one day max. In the meantime, we did everything we could to provide you with English tea from alternative sources, such as the minibars in our rooms. We sincerely apologize if this caused any frustration during your visit, and we appreciate your understanding in this matter. That being said, we noticed that the way you made fun of our hotel’s policy regarding food and drink, as well as the prices, was not very respectful. Our policies are in place to ensure a pleasant and hygienic stay for all guests, and we kindly ask for understanding in this regard. Upon reviewing your feedback, we have come to the conclusion that you may have been generally dissatisfied with your vacation in Montenegro. We are sorry that your experience with us and the broader destination did not meet your expectations, and we hope that if you choose to return in the future, your experience will be much improved. Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you all the best in your future travels. Best regards, Maestral Resort & Casino

Honestly the place and 95% of the staff deserve much more than the rating I am giving today but the remaining 5% of hotel employees, those who work at the swimming pool, do not even deserve 1 star. A young couple in their twenties had been comfortably seated on the pool deck chairs since the morning when two ladies arrived and had them kicked out in the middle of the afternoon under the pretext that they had reserved the deck chairs since the morning. The pool staff makes reservations even though the deckchairs are free and the reception itself finds that this is not normal. Basically you show up at 8am in the morning and you throw away your towels and the place is yours for the day when there are clearly not enough deckchairs for all the vacationers in the hotel. It’s a scandal really not worthy of a 5 star. Highlight of the show: the daughter of the young couple started to cry because she was viciously kicked out by the security guard and when she left the two ladies who took her place (which they did not use any the day, I was next to them (there were 2 for 4 deckchairs) started to openly make fun of each other, laughing WITH the staff present who had fired the couple. I found it disgusting and uncomfortable. So yes, the hotel is splendid, the view is magnificent and the rest of the service is perfect but for this event far from the values and class that I imagine of a 5 star I cannot give a rating above.

I am very disappointed on the value of money with this hotel. 1. they were always lacking of towels for the beach ( sometimes we waited even 45min for them), the beach lounger was always dirty (they didnt clean them everyday), they let the public people to come to their private beach (they had to pay for it) but because of that the guests of the hotel couldn’t get the beach lounger…

They put very small beach umberellas (only one person could sit in shadow the other was already half on the sun, and you can not move the umberellas).

The smell in bathroom from the canalization was all the time there- This you can not afford when you charge 400€ for a room.

They were defenitely “employing” way too much trainees instead of professional people and you could see that in their service.

Also the prices they put for the cleaning of clothing , ironing are ridiculous. This hotel is defenitely a rip off for what they offer and thats why I would not recommend you to come here.

Recently renovated, good location, fantastic views including sunset.

Honestly the place would deserve at least a 4 star rating, but sadly enough the shameful monkey business with sunbed reservations conducted by the beach staff was a real disappointment.

To be more exact, at 08.00 am - official opening time of the private hotel beach most of the frontrow / beachfront sunbeds were already reserved. Namely, reserved by hotel guests, so I was told by the beach staff. However this is absolutely not true! While having my early morning coffee overlooking the beach, this morning I saw only one guest on the beach taking a frontrow sunbed. All other frontrow sunbeds were in fact reserved / marked by the hotel-beach staff only with clean towels without any small usual personal property like books or suncreams.
What's the purpose of this behaviour? Most probably, the so called "reserved" sunbeds being intended for renting to visitors, not hotel guests.
I believe that the hotel management is already well aware of this very obvious "sunbeds business". Still I would strongly recommend them to consider taking serious action.

Dear Mr. Mirko , Thank you for your comments. Our hotel is a 5 star hotel and enjoys high ratings in all online platforms. We sincerely regret your negative impressions due to the “first row on the beach” issue. We may not have properly informed you during the reservation and check-in, that the first row on the beach is reserved for guests staying in suites or apartments. When the suites or apartments are not occupied 100% we may accommodate other guests. Your comment helps us to identify an occasional flaw in the information provided during reservation or check-in. We will take all necessary steps to ensure this does not happen again in the future. We hope that except this issue, you did enjoy your stay with us and we will have the pleasure to see you again in our resort. Best regards,

Hotel Maestral is excellent for family vacation. Location is perfect, great service and food. With perfect sandy beach, as well as indoor and outdoor pools, both kids and adults will enjoy it!
Worth mentioning during COVID-19: we felt safe as hygiene was on high level and we could keep proper distance throughout our stay there.

On arrival our coach had problems unloading luggage which was a poor start and our room looked out on the restaurant extractor. Our first request for a room change was rebuffed but the following morning Allana rescued the situation promptly and professionally moving our room. The Chinese meal in the restaurant was tremendous, the breakfast good, the evening buffet excellent and the whole staff superb. The beach does get busy, and nothing much outside the confines of the hotel but an enjoyable time for our 3 day stopover.
