Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Nestled in a serene, picturesque setting, Ocean Point Hotel boasts tranquil beaches and a large, pristine pool that have won the admiration of guests, along with readily available sunbeds. While the secluded location offers beachfront charm, it may hinder guests keen on exploration. The hotel's rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and comfort, yet some visitors have noted a need for modern updates. The welcoming atmosphere and commendable service provided by friendly staff enhance the overall relaxing experience. However, the value is somewhat diminished by additional costs for certain amenities and dining experiences.

We arrived on a Monday afternoon & initially thought we had been dropped off at the wrong place as from the outside it doesn’t look like a hotel at all. Fear not .. once you go through the doors your holiday begins. We had to check ourselves in online & then were served our welcome drinks before being shown to our room. The hotel had laid out a bottle of fizz for us as it was our 30th wedding anniversary which was very thoughtful. Room was lovely , clean and the bed was comfy. Shower is small so those larger guests might find this an issue but we were fine. Also this is one of the few hotels that provides liquid hand soap beside the basin instead of those annoying little bars! There is one bar and one restaurant, all open air which is lovely . Pool is clean and surrounded by sunbeds and sun sails. Beaches are clean, always plenty of sunbeds. This is a very quiet hotel. If you want to relax and drink it’s perfect! Bar staff were amazing 😊 cocktails were delicious. Food- The evening meal provides two menus, one for all inclusive which changes each night but is quite limited and the main menu that you can buy from. It is based on an Italian menu so don’t expect local dishes or spice. This is where the hotel is let down slightly - I do like the idea of a la carte as there is less food waste but the evening meals were not amazing. Breakfasts never disappointed and for lunch we always ate from the bar menu which was delicious. The only other downside was the WiFi which was intermittent and this meant you couldn’t really watch the amazing tv in the bedroom as it would buffer half way through a program. I ended up buying WiFi from my uk provider instead. All these points considered, we would definitely come back as it’s beautiful, tranquil and the staff make this hotel. Points to remember : bug spray is a must, the two bottles of water you get on arrival - don’t throw them away as these are to be refilled from the water dispenser in reception. ( this is a good eco point, less plastic wastage) Coffee - the coffee machines on floor 2 and in reception provide hotter coffee than that served at breakfast so we always took one in with us.

Hotel's Favourite
We have just returned from an amazing 2 weeks at Ocean Point and we cannot speak highly enough of it We have been coming to Antigua for 12 years but this was the first time at this hotel ,,,, and we were not disappointed It is a small family run hotel in a mediterranean style, The owners are very visible and the attention to detail is clear to see We had an Ocean view room on the first floor overlooking the pool - the room was spotlessly clean and serviced every day. There is no kettle but we already knew that so took our own. The bed was incredibly comfortable and there is a small fridge. Only one small bottle of water is provided on arrival but there is a 24 hour supply of chilled water in reception so it is worth taking a refillable bottle to collect it in. There is also a continuous supply of tea and coffee in reception and mugs are provided in the room to collect it There is a small shop in reception which mainly has souvenirs The food was amazing, It was table service which works really well. The food was beautifully presented and very very tasty, There was a good choice every night - we were on all inclusive and there was more than enough to choose from. You also have the option of paying extra for different things such as lobster or steak. It was very clear what was included and the staff were very helpful. There was a wide selection of local drinks and cocktails available and again it was very clear how it worked for AI. We are very fussy eaters and we had no problem in finding a most enjoyable and varied selection of food and drink. Breakfast was also very good and then there was lunch in the restaurant or from the bar menu. It was even served on the beach if you wanted it! There are two beach fronts and a decked jetty along with a large pool area. There were more than enough beds and shades for everyone and no need for the nonsense of reserving spaces - you could find somewhere any time you arrived. The sea was lovely for swimming although rocky getting in in places so a pair of beach shoes wouldnt go amiss. The beaches, although public, are really only used by hotel guests and there are days when cruise guests spend the day there too. There is a lovely sea breeze so beware of burning! There isnt really anything to walk to nearby in the way of bars/shops etc - but we didnt want to anyway so that was good. We loved the fact that there was very little in the way of entertainment - it was so much nicer just chilling in the evening and listening to the waves, There is a live band 8-10 on a Tuesday - which was very good. Then the dreaded karaoke on a Friday. This was mainly half a dozen drunk people screeching in to a microphone - it really brought the tone of the place down and was just awful. The second week nobody got up and sang - which was much better. If I was them I would lose the karaoke and maybe have some local musicians instead. The other 5 nights it was lovely just having a quiet drink. Far and away the best asset of the hotel is the staff, Every single staff member we met was so very friendly and helpful - they really could not do enough for everyone. Damon in charge of the restaurant and bar had everything running like clockwork - it was an absolute joy to watch him at work, Kellie, Tyauna and Karel in the restaurant were just lovely. Bryan who served drinks and food on the beach was great. And we have never seen anyone work as hard as Shaun the porter - always running around dealing with something - he wore us out just watching him! There were too many stand out staff members to mention - they were all just brilliant. Overall if you want to stay in a classy well run and chilled place then this is for you. If you need entertainment. noise and wall to wall activity then this is not the place to be, Ocean Point exceeds its 3 star status and we are already booking for next year! Well done to all!! Top tip - book all inclusive as the charges will soon rack up if you pay as you go

As other reviewers say, the staff are without doubt Ocean Point's best asset. Everyone seems in a positive mood and I felt this even rubbed off on the guests, helping the atmosphere to be something quite special. From the owner to the restaurant manager to the general staff (especially Danivel and Melissa), everybody was just so welcoming! Food in the restaurant and bar was excellent, with a wide selection at breakfast beautifully presented (a pleasant alternative to providing a buffet). I appreciate the emphasis is on Mediterranean food, but I would have appreciated a few more local-style options at dinner (especially nice for variety when on a longer stay). Aspects like being adults-only, or having the pool open 24 hours so you can enjoy a midnight dip, were just brilliant, and I appreciated the good quality hot and cold drinks conveniently available near the room - a much better system than having to wait ages for room service. Check-in was incredibly slick and I think the easiest I've ever experienced. This is a place to come for peace and quiet, so wouldn't be the right choice for party animals, but I really appreciated the serenity and relaxed environment. The layout by the two beaches, with pelicans perching on rocks and atmospherically-placed cannons, is very thoughtfully designed. The rooms are older-style with no modern bells and whistles (except an excellent smart TV), but perfectly clean and comfortable with a pretty colour scheme. Hot water comes and goes a little, but this was never a significant problem. Grounds and house-keeping staff work really hard to keep the property looking smart throughout the day and are always so friendly. Thank you to the wonderful team at Ocean Point for the great work that they do!

As we are returners, there is always a lovely welcome when we check-in from Rossana, Donella and Tara. it’s become our Caribbean home from home, except we don’t do anything but relax, enjoy the food, the beach, the sunset cocktails at the bar next to the water, when the light fades. But above all, the staff make the vacation experience exceptional. Well trained and will recognise the fact you like to engage or not, From Dezzy and Kerry managing things in the restaurant, to Brian and Kean in the bar, nothings a problem. The food is fantastic, it’s served A La Carte from a menu, none of this buffet fighting, the Catch of the Day is always tasty. If you are AI you have a great choice. The rooms are comfortable and clean, if you demand instant hot water and rain showers and a boutique style finish, entertainment every night - this may not be for you. But if you want a relaxing vacation, happy employer feeling and a great atmosphere, a quiet beach (with a drinks and lunch service!) and loungers, watching the pelicans dive into its small bay and every holiday maker in a good mood just chillin’ out, then this is a great choice. To be honest, we have been going to The Caribbean for forty years, we feel personally it brings back the 1980s and 90s comfortable familiarity that you made a good choice of where to stay. Every time we have visited they have just improved the services by adding little things, like a good wine it improves with age. So sorry if we have missed any names, but we would like to give a ‘shout out’ to all the staff . We will be booking a sixth time!

Superb stay at Ocean Point in March. Relaxed atmosphere helped by a relaxed but comfortable dress code that you don't always get elsewhere in the Caribbean. The food is excellent. Varied menus everyday served to your table after being superbly cooked and prepared. The jewels in their crown, as always, are the staff. Friendly, no request too much trouble and we had lots of laughs with them all at bar, restaurant and reception. A couple of minor issues in our room were dealt with quickly. There is everything you need at the resort but not much else in the immediate vicinity. St John's is 15-20 minutes by local bus or taxi ($2 US or $20 US each way). The bus has no schedule so we did have to wait a while to get back from St John's. Recommend the trip to Shirley Heights for the sunset, steel and reggae bands (just make sure you are clear on the price when booking), Thoroughly recommend the resort, the people and the island. Will definitely book here when we come back

My Wife & I stayed at the Ocean Point Hotel at the end of March 24 for 1 week arranged at the last minute through Virgin Holidays to escape the rain in the UK. Best decision we made the Hotel location was perfect on quiet beach and short quick transfer from the airport. The Hotel is set in very picturesque grounds surrounding the swimming pool and beach. We were full inclusive and the breakfast, lunch and dinner were excellent with lots of choice on offer. The staff were very friendly and helpful and could not do more to make our stay enjoyable. We returned to the UK relaxed, suntanned and chilled. Thank you Ocean Point Hotel

We had a great time at Ocean Point. The view from our balcony was like a picture postcard. The beach was kept clean and the water was lovely. We swam in the pool, which is open 24 hours, early mornings and it was very clean. We stayed all inclusive and the food was very good. There was a good choice for breakfast and lunch and the evening meals changed everyday and were all superb. We liked the fact we ordered food from the menu as opposed to a buffet and we thought that was a good idea as we are sure it means less wastage. The staff were always polite and attentive. It was nice to see the food being prepared in the kitchen and showed how hard all the ladies and gents worked to make sure the food was prepared and presented well. The owners were on hand to ensure the guests enjoyed their stay and their attention to detail was second to none. Bryan in the bar was always on hand to brighten the day and he enjoyed we ordered salads for lunch which he found very amusing even though there were many other choices on the menu. The rooms were cleaned daily and although a little dated they were clean and comfortable. We would recommend Ocean Point if you want a relaxing holiday away from it all and don't want much entertainment. You will enjoy it.

Things to know about this hotel: The staff are amazing ! Honestly, such a friendly bunch who go out of their way to help. They really did make or first Antigua visit the best it could be. It’s a quiet hotel. If you’re looking for a quiet break then this is the place for you. I would say this hotel suits couples or slightly older clientele but if you’re just looking for a quiet break then this is the place. Such a clean hotel. It was very refreshing to see the effort put in on a daily basis from all of the staff from cleaning to grounds maintenance. The views are stunning. We had two separate rooms as trip had a stop in between and both rooms were beautiful with their own amazing views. The pool is open all of the time. Perfect for me and early morning swim which I made the most of. There are perfect spots to watch the sunrise/sunset. There is entertainment every other day so if you’re looking for busy nightlife then you may want to head out. The food. The food was delicious, we would have liked to have seen more local dishes showcased or part of the all-inclusive menu. The menu consisted mostly of English/american/italian dishes. The hotel could do with slight ungraded in places and bigger shower cubicles but on the grand scale of these, these are minor.

I stayed here as an all inclusive guest. Positives: -gorgeous spot with two bays for swimming - pool and deck are pleasant spaces - very quiet Major Negatives: - All inclusive menu is restricted to a small set of dishes, some are there every day and they offer a few daily specials- but these are sometimes unusual. The bulk of menu options come at a significant extra charge. -Breakfast and lunch are good quality but the dinner is substandard and comes uncomfortably quickly. - Staff seem to be learning their craft. Sadly, orders are routinely confused and the reception team were unable to provide extra bedding and pillows. - No watersports facilities and equipment at all, despite reception promising this. - Bedding is thin, bedrooms are very dated and the showers are basic - drain smell too... More of a hostel vibe. They could have a real gem here but they have quite a lot of work to do.
