Is there a more perfect seaside hotel than the Inn at English Harbour ?
My wife and I have just returned from a week’s stay there and we don’t think so , we absolutely loved it . The hotel is perfectly positioned in one of Antigua’s most stunning locations totally private and yet so close to the historic and beautiful English Harbour . The staff are so friendly and welcoming that nothing is too much trouble. The bedrooms are luxurious and well maintained and the public areas very elegantly set out . We loved the casual breakfasts at the beachside Reef Restaurant as well the excellent dinners up at the main lodge where the views and sunsets are wonderful.
It’s not cheap but you can really see what you are paying for .
We are booking again for next year as we were so impressed.

My wife and I have just returned from 9 nights half board at The Inn, staying in a garden junior suite. Our first time to Antigua but I am sure it will not be our last.
The staff are so friendly from the point of arrival until you leave, and its 5 star service but in a relaxed and informal style that puts you at ease. Nothing is too much trouble.
The food is excellent, with plentiful choice at breakfast and high quality evening meals. We often enjoyed the catch of the day ranging from Mahi Mahi, Wahoo to Red Snapper, all fish sourced fresh that day from the head chef's Antonios contact😉. A menu change each Friday occurs to give plentiful choice. I would recommend half board as we often skipped lunch as was always full. You have to remember this is a 5 star hotel with 5 star quality and costs. Drinks are well priced though, cocktails $10 US and wine well priced.
You are given access to free drinking water during the stay with reusable bottles and full tea making facilities in room.
A complimentary english afternoon tea was provided at 4pm each day, cakes, sandwiches and savouries. We enjoyed this on 2/3 occasions when choosing not to have lunch as you can only eat so much!
From talking to residents who have stayed at various other resorts and from our own experience, this is the place to be in Antigua. Not only is the resort well positioned with calm seas for swimming and snorkelling (some beaches on the west get closed in high winds due to rough seas) you have easy access to Nelsons Dockyard, Pidgeon Point Beach, with access to various places for lunch or evening meal options. There are also several trail walks / runs up to Shirley Heights. The trails were ideal for me as a keen runner, so if trail walking is your thing, this would give you a good daily walk. It is lumpy but can also be in the shade of the trees, but stunning views.
With only 29 rooms getting a lounger around the pool is never a problem, nor on the private beach. A very relaxing place despite the loud music on Sunday and Thursday from the Shirley Heights BBQ's that you can hear, but a small compromise for its positive location for everything else. We were told other resorts are somewhat isolated and you become beholden to the often larger resort.
All staff were excellent. I won't mention names as they are all so good and they all genuinely get to know you as a guest.
We stayed during race week and enjoyed watching the sail boats pass the resort every day whilst we sat reading our books. There are also some great viewing points from trails up to Shirley Heights also.
We will certainly be returning.

What a treat to vacation in such a gorgeous spot and not be overcrowded with other people - and during Christmas, the biggest travel week of the year. Always a shady spot on the beach available, calm, clear ocean, and a large pool. The water taxi to Nelson Dockyard was a really nice feature. View is amazing. The staff is very attentive and tended to a few problems we had in our room quickly and efficiently. So many lovely staff members especially everyone at the Reef and Terrace restaurants. I am especially grateful to the front desk and housekeeping for getting rooms ready when we were forced to return after our flight was canceled and for providing plates of cheese and fruit at midnight which was exactly what we needed after such an awful time at the airport.

This was our 3rd year running at the Inn (and 10th time to Antigua), and we’re already planning on returning next year – we have found our top happy place! You cannot fault the location, the staff and service, the relaxed ambience, the tranquil water dotted with sailing boats - and the food is pretty special too. There were some minor niggles which make it in my opinion a little “rough around the edges” for a 5 star, and which I have already fed back to the hotel – this is Caribbean/rustic luxury rather than fancy marbled luxury - but the Inn is very relaxed and comfortable with all you need on hand, and the staff do all they can to enhance your stay. I firmly believe you are never going to get 100% perfection anywhere, and nothing spoiled our stay in any way. As a travel agent, I have stayed in countless 5 star hotels worldwide but the Inn at English Harbour is the one that consistently ticks just about every box and I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be. The staff go above and beyond in their professionalism, helpfulness and friendliness. One example - my husband had a cold during our stay and Rahim the security guard made a point of finding us one evening to present him with a bottle of peppermint oil to help ease his blocked sinuses – how kind is that! There are too many names to mention but suffice to say we loved all the staff and very much enjoyed our daily banter with them. I will, however, give a shout out to Wesley the restaurant manager and Ocean the bartender, who stand out as real assets to the Inn. The other guests are always pleasant and sociable too – we really enjoyed their company. There is no pretentiousness or feeling out of place. Clientele is predominantly British. It was a pleasure to meet you Craig & Sam, Les & Dawn, Mo & Liz, Ken & Jen et al. I had my routine in paradise for 14 wonderful nights – each day I got up early, had a coffee on our spacious terrace, then a minute’s walk to go for a swim in the gorgeous pool (empty – it felt like it was my own private pool at that time of morning) before breakfast, spent the mornings walking up the beach, lazing by the pool or on the beach catching up on reading, then the hard decision of where to have lunch and dinner, nightcap at the Stone Bar and finally took some wine back to the terrace to enjoy the night sky and chirping of tree frogs. (Husband joined the routine at breakfast time, he’s not an early bird!). Just what we needed after a challenging few months back home. Half board or even bed & breakfast basis is best as there are so many excellent local restaurants to visit just a short boat or taxi ride away. And Antigua Sailing Week is great fun! This is what beautiful memories are made of.

Finally, the perfect adult retreat! This resort offered us everything we were looking for in an adult getaway. Staff and amenities were 5 star. The rooms are large and very comfortable, the resort offers water toys for daily use at no additional charge. The quiet bay directly in front of the Inn is so clean and accessible. My husband swam in the ocean every day. Staff bend over backwards to offer anything you could possible need/want, the food in the both restaurants superb. I am a vegetarian, and they were more than happy to accommodate me. The highlight was the daily tea offered at the beach restaurant; freshly made pastries daily and wonderful selection of teas. We are making plans to return next spring. With regard to driving, it's a challenge if you are unfamiliar with driving on the left side of the roadway, and street signage is non-existent. Next time we will not rent a car, and simply use taxis for the few excursions we plan. We participated in one excursion; Springhill Riding Club. It was amazing and Kent was such a wonderful guide. No riding experience required. Truly a bucket list adventure.

The Inn is a stunning small elegant boutique colonial style resort in the most beautiful location on Galleon Bay. Close enough by a quick courtesy boat trip to the UNESCO English Harbour and set in private tranquil gardens.
We stayed in both an upper floor junior suite room 33 (2 beds joined together) and a delux ground floor suite (room 16) which was larger and had the most comfortable super king four poster bed with mosquito net.
What makes the resort stand out is the service, it was impeccable throughout and we enjoyed talking with all the staff.
We decided not to stay full board, but enjoyed the Italian night at the Terrace and the lunch at the Reef Bar. We agree with other reviews that the menu and food at the Reef bar is better. An easy taxi ride at night can take you over to English Harbour to experience lots of other great dining options. (Catherine’s Cafe, Incanto are also great)
The beach beds were really comfortable and there were lots of them, fresh fluffy beach towels and a courtesy bag with water bottles to fill up with chilled water from dispensers were provided on arrival.
We also enjoined playing tennis on the flood lit grass style courts, and chess in the library.
This is an elegant quiet resort, mainly for mature couples situated on one of Antiguas best beaches.

Second visit to the lovely Inn. All was as it should be in this lovely oasis in the sunshine. We had a lovely upstairs larger room, 27, with a great balcony that enabled us to enjoy the outside even when it was raining.
Since our last visit 2 years ago, the addition of the buggy to run guests up and down is great, much less of a deal than a taxi. The rooms were generally in good condition - but do remember that everywhere in the real Caribbean feels the effects of the rain, sun and humidity but that is part of its charm.
This is the perfect place to watch the rowers home from the Worlds Toughest Row and they were arriving thick and fast at the end of our stay. And of course trips to Nelson’s and Falmouth and Shirley Heights etc are always fun and so easy from here.
The positives here - extremely easy pace, very relaxing - no kids under 10 (lovely!) - boutique, small nature : no fights for sunbeds etc. - charming rooms with good A/C - breakfast, lunch, tea all lovely - location - right by Nelson’s dockyard in a beautiful setting on the sheltered side
Possible negatives / things to be aware of - this is a low key resort - no bling here - as such, the rooms are lovely but not glitzy. There are little birds flitting around, the houses are made of wood and so they show the effect of the elements - the only change from 2 years ago is Loose Cannon which has set up further round on Galleon Beach and is boom boom boom all day. It’s a pity but there’s not much the Inn can do about it. Sometimes - Sundays and when the wind is from the SE - it’s just a bit too much.
All in all though a really lovely ten days in much needed winter sun.
Staff are excellent and the huge number of repeat guests from this largely older, British clientele, speaks to the loyal following this hotel inspires (ourselves included)

One of the best kept secrets in Antigua. The property is well maintained with sparkling blue/green waters and white sand beach. As a solo traveler, I take advantage of the beach front bungalow with direct access ocean views. As a frequent guest, I’m very impressed with the longevity and professionalism of the staff, including their GM, Fabio, F&B manager Wesley as well as the bartenders and servers: Neil, Ocean, Tussey, Mirium, Orquadia, and Junell.
The food is spot on, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as certain special dinners offering BBQ as well as Italian nights.
The resort also offers free boat excursions during the day to Nelson’s Dockyard with the legendary Captain Verve, who is one hell of a nice guy! In addition to the complimentary boat shuttle, The Inn also provides free snorkeling and other non-motorized beach toys.
Housekeeping does a great job and offers turndown service as well. Shout out to all those who make the rooms look and smell clean, especially Lakisha. They work extremely hard keeping the place spotless. Frette linens and beach towels add to the comfort of The Inn.
Lastly, The Inn never feels busy - as a small resort, you have all of the privacy of a colonial style luxurious property with direct beach access and a huge sparkling swimming pool which is rarely used.
If you’re looking for a quiet get away, look no further than The Inn at English Harbour, Antigua!

This is a beautiful hotel and we will be sorry to leave tomorrow but we will definitely return. I don’t usually review hotels until we are home but having read the most recent review ( overlapping with our stay) I really wonder if we are at the same hotel. The location is superb on a beautiful beach with easy boat access by hotel launch and the ever cheerful captain Veere to English Harbour and Falmouth bay. There are also excellent marked walking trails straight from the hotel and 2 lovely floodlit tennis courts which we used most days. Great coach too. I recommend however bringing your own racquets.. The pool area is stunning and spotless and makes a change from swimming in the sea. The beach service was always attentive and cheerful as were all the staff. Our deluxe suite on an upper floor was large, comfortable and again kept spotlessly clean and serviced twice daily with an abundance of towels and toiletries. We spent the first 3 nights in a ground floor room and on enquiring about reserving an upper one next time we were delighted to be offered one for the rest of our stay. That suite was superior to the first (possibly recently refreshed) but all rooms seem good and all face the sea. The food in the restaurant was good although it was also nice to eat out sometimes for a bit of local variety and atmosphere. Breakfast could be improved but I think the staff and kitchen are still adapting to the demise of the buffet breakfast. Covid has been particularly hard on the hospitality industry and it’s not over yet. We just feel enormously privileged to have spent a wonderful 11 nights in this beautiful hotel.

We came to The Inn for our honeymoon we arrived on a Sunday afternoon and was welcomed by a wonderful view of the stunning grounds and Galleon beach. Simply an idyllic spot they do so much right, very peaceful and relaxing with a generally older clientele if you want late nights in the bar this hotel may not be ideal. We stayed in a junior suite a lovely room expertly looked after and cleaned to a very high standard by Annetta, many thanks fron us both. Breakfasts in the reef restaurant are very nice if you want something not on the menu the chef will do his best to accommodate you, Tussy is a star full of energy and always has a smile. The beaches are well kept nice sunbeds and Rey or Thomas are on hand for your refreshment requests and a little chat.My wife used the beautician Nikki she was very pleased with her pedicure treatment and had a lovely chat with her. Arriving we were slightly worried about the quality of food in the terrace restaurant after reading reviews ...we need not worry every meal we had was gorgeous compliments to the chef, it was restaurant quality every night. One minor issue was our white wine was not chilled enough. The staff throughout the hotel were ever so friendly but they excelled themselves on the terrace with Neil, Wesley, Sharilyn, Jerry and Janelle always happy up for a chat a great team ! We used the library and games room extensive collection of books and a lovely room to relax in. One gripe we had as did other guests was that the hotel shuttle boat sank on the evening of Tuesday 28th Feb and was out of action, we got a letter from the management on the following Monday apologising saying that a taxi service twice a week would be introduced until the boat was returned, sadly too late and a inadequate response. Vere who runs the boat service and water toys is a very laid back easy going chap always with a smile on his face, even when his beloved boat sank. Sadly we had a influx of sargassum seaweed but Martin and his teamed worked brilliantly and throughout the day to clean up the beach. The weekly bbq is well worth attending at the beach reef restaurant the chef Deal was great as was the steel band.Special mention to the singer on the Wednesday night, very good and soulful voice. I totally understand why The Inn has so many repeaters and we can't wait to join them One day, a little bit of paradise, we had a wonderful honeymoon!!
