Just returned from a week staying at Nautilus Beach apartments. Excellent location, right on the beach. Beach bar and restaurant now open on the beach (Bayside Bistro). Food and drinks good. Sun beds and umbrellas free for those staying on site. Beach towels provided as well. Convenient to get anywhere by hire car (car park there) or bus stop not far.
Aircon in bedroom but not in living room. Balcony, well fitted kitchen and tv with Netflix etc.
not the most modern of apartments but location and staff make up for it and room was clean.
Would definitely recommend. There was some renovation work going on but didn’t affect our stay.

The Nautilus Apartments are basic but very well priced for Barbados. The decor is a bit tired but the apartments are very well equipped and the staff are very friendly and helpful. This place fronts onto a beautiful beach which is unusually long for this island and so is great for early morning and late afternoon walks. If you are looking for good value, inexpensive self-catering, I would recommend it.

This is our 6th visit to Nautilius which speaks for itself, the location is on Carlisle beach which is about 1 mile long of pure White sand, the sea is perfect for swimmers, straight at the front door, we have stayed in the superior apartments at the front and are very roomy, with 2King size beds and aircondioning, the kitchen area is now getting a little dated now but has everything ,microwave, fridge, freezer, cooker, with plenty of storage space, the long area has dinning table 4 chairs 2 easy chairs and a setee, this leads onto a small balcony, which is ideal for evening meals, staff are excellent and place kept wonderfully clean
It's a pleasure to come back

Due to a situation beyond our control we were forced into looking for a 58 day stay on short notice. To our surprise and now we understand why!! The Nautilus on the most beautiful beach in Barbados had availability. We were told the place was closed for a year for renovations. We now understand it was more like an outdoor facelift and a change of furniture. The beds are new and comfortable the living area is sparsely furnished with the most uncomfortable furniture ever made. The kitchen has a fridge that is good for drinks and small quantity of groceries but will not hold a weeks worth of food if you intend on cooking your own meals. The kitchen faucet is circa 1950 no pressure on the hot water side and no hot water no matter how long you wait. Management said they would try to fix it but never succeeded. The stove is gas and so old it was not even as good as a camping stove. The oven was a joke and we suspect it maybe leaking carbon monoxide. If you are snow birds and intend on making this home for an extended stay look elsewhere. If you are coming for a week or less looking to be on the most beautiful beach in Barbados and a reasonably comfortable bed , a place to keep some drinks or make a coffee and you plan to eat out and be in this place just to sleep this maybe the place for you.

Caution! Heavy handed owner - Tried to double the CONFIRMED price on check-in!
We booked through a reputable booking agency. The booking was confirmed. On arrival Christmas Eve, the owner said the price was incorrect and their account on the booking agency had been hacked. He doubled the price and told us that was the new price and we had to pay it. I told him this can’t be right and it should be taken up with the booking agency it really wasn’t our fault. He made us sit around until gone 4pm we had no idea what was going on. We were so worried that we wouldn’t have a bed for the night. Eventually a lovely staff member got our cases and took us to a room that was unoccupied, another guest had just left. He put our cases in and said this will be your room. It was dirty but at least we had a room - no keys though! The room was eventually cleaned. The keys weren’t given to us, my partner went to ask reception and she came with a price on a piece and of paper. We again said we’d already taken it up with the booking agency and that price wasn’t the price we had on our booking. We stayed the night. We went out Christmas Day and the owner was waiting in the corridor for us! Very intimidating. His words were are you going to pay my price? We said no we are dealing with the booking agency he then said we’ll get out then in a very aggressive manner. I was shaking. He made us feel really uncomfortable. You can imagine how we felt this was Christmas Day as well. The man showed no empathy or understanding of our situation.
The next morning we wanted to just leave because the whole experience was terrible. He demanded we pay by Credit Card avoiding the booking agency fees and breaking their policy. By this point we felt so intimidated by this man we paid and left.
So please be careful if you are thinking of booking this property. We were not the only ones that this happened to. There were many others!
I can’t even tell you about the facilities because the whole experience overcame anything good about this place.

Ok...this is as simple as it gets. I have been coming here on and off since 1996. While it seems very little updating has been done to the place since this time that really doesn't matter. These apartments are clean, and located on the beach...the best beach in Barbados in my opinion. These amazing Caribbean waters are always calm and full of friendly little fish that delight children. Heck a sea turtle paddled by us this past visit.
The Nautilus cleaning staff is amazing. We loved Nicole and Elmina. They are so helpful and full of knowledge. They are also warm and wonderful and go above and beyond their duties as room cleaners. They are the backbone of this establishment.
From Nautilus it is easy to get to Bridgetown. You can either walk the beach almost all the way, or take a ZR (minivan), a minibus or a Bus. The convenient Bay street location is perfect for hitting St.Lawrence Gap nightspots or taking care of business in town. Also grocery shopping near Worthing is great (town offers better prices but Big B and Trimart offer great selection). Lastly, the gas station across and down the street can be a true life saver. My son fell ill one night and they actually had cough medicine and Oblas oil for him. Oblas oil at a gas station!? Whole Foods in NYC just started carrying that...I'm fairly certain we wont be finding it at a BP anytime soon.
Did I mention the amazing beach?! This is an excellent place to have children stay at. Very basic but as long as you are desire serious sea time and want to be able to get around easily this is the place for you.

I was looking for a place to spend 2 nights before I boarded a cruise. I didn't want anything too expensive but it must be clean and well located to the harbour.
I contacted the Nautilus Hotel who replied in a timely fashion and I booked with them.
We arrived at the hotel and Betty greeted us and showed us around. Nautilus is right on the beach and provides a small patio with chairs for the guests.
The rooms are basic but clean, air conditioned and with cooking facilities.
The best asset for this hotel is Betty the receptionist who lives on the premises and always has a smile.
Betty knows everything about the island and can recommend restaurants and shopping and couldn't be more helpful..
I highly recommend The Nautilus as clean basic furnished suites and the price cannot be beat!

This is a very good place to stay on the beautiful Island of Barbados. But it is not ideal for everyone. If you are looking to save a few bucks and still be on the beach and close to a lot of interesting places then this could work out well.
My girlfriend and I stayed here in April of this year and at first we were a little turned off. The place is old but relatively clean and the people are friendly and helpful. It also rained more than we expected at first, but no days were ever rained out completely. We were on a tight budget so we walked quite a bit and took advantage of the bus system (public and private - and only a buck each way...that's 2 bucks Barbados). We were expecting a little less of the 3rd world impression the infrastructure gives you, but we never felt threatened or fearful in any way. Walking along Barbados' dark streets at night with run down shacks that serve as bars or even restaurants and the shabby streets seems intimidating at first. But we always felt safe and had no incidents to take away from our memorable stay.
After a couple of days, my girlfriend was saying she definitely wanted to come back to the island and also to Nautilus. We did have a problem with the refrigerator as it did not work and the freezer was only cold (not quite able to make ice). We reported it and the staff got a repairman there in short order. Unfortunately, he did not fix the problem even after replacing a part and de-icing the evaporator. But, we just kept perishables in the freezer and made do. We are not your typical complainers. As we checked out, we let them know the repairman owes them a completed job.
The location, again is excellent. You could go to other beaches on Barbados but you don't need to. Carlisle Bay has a super beach and you can snorkel right from your room. The walk to Bridgetown is long but doable and if you like to exercise, recommended. And the Oistins Fish Fry is a short bus ride down the road. You can't miss this event on Friday nights!
I would also make sure you take the tours of the Agapey Chocolate Factory (small but impressive) and the Mount Gay Rum bottling plant. These help you get a feel for the Barbados experience and are loads of fun.
We definitely want to return to Barbados and would seriously consider staying at Nautilus again.

Arrived Jan 2/2012 Love, love, love the view of the sea as we got out of the Taxi and there to meet us was Wanda, it was like comming home. This year we had a upstairs Apt. and the view was breathtaking. I would sit on the deck for hours and thought ," how luckley we are to be able to visit this wonderful place" The rooms have been here for almost 40 years and are on the beach, they are very clean and have everything you need to do your own cooking. The office staff is the best, they always have time for a chat and a smile. The room maids and Louis get a 10 plus. they all do a great job. Our room was spotless ( I checked and I was in this business for 26 years, so I know a clean room ) Some say the rooms are dated but so am I so for us ( 70 - 72 ) they are perfect. We are going back in Dec. for a month and if our health holds out we will be going back to ,The Nautilus for many more years to come. We can't improve on " Perfect "

As some other people have said there is nothing fancy about the apartments, having said that, there is everything you need for a very comfortable stay, good comfy furniture, a full kitchen complete with microwave and toaster, comfortable beds and most importantly good air con (free) in the bedroom. The staff are amazing, Nicky & Susan will do everything in their power to give you everything you need, the housekeeping staff are friendly and do a very good job. The best thing is the location, just step through the gate and you are on the Carlisle Bay Beach, one of the best on the island, with calm, clear, protected water, turtles swimming round you as you stand in the 30 'C water, swim just a few yards over to the Marine Reserve and you can snorkel on the famous Carlisle Bay wrecks, - 5 wrecks in a very small area, with lots of sea life almost within arms reach.
Yes, there are the fancy hotels just along the beach, at 3 or 4 times the cost. But I guarantee that for the cost, & with this location and personal service, you will not find a better deal on the Island, I know where we will be staying on our future trips to "BIM"

I am not sure as well. The price is excellent for the location. Its not a fancy hotel but very practical...what more can u ask for when u can spend hours on the beach.
Prices are shown outside the airport in Bds probably 50 - 60 dont misread for US
30-40 minus by transport (depending on time of day and traffic) and cruise terminal about 10 minutes less. Very close to Bridgetown centre. We always walked and caught buses from the bus station at Fairchild. Good beach front location but not surrounded by lots of shops etc. We liked its location.
