Nestled close to the beach and local attractions, Bougainvillea Barbados offers a serene escape, with travelers lauding its inviting atmosphere, live music, and decor. While the staff generally earns praise for their friendliness and helpfulness, there have been some service hiccups. The hotel's cleanliness receives high marks, and rooms are appreciated for their space and amenities, despite occasional maintenance oversights. Amenities like the beach and pool add to the experience, but issues like towel shortages have been flagged. Opinions on value are split, with some guests finding the dining options pricey.

We just spent a week at the Bougainvillea Barbados and are already wanting to go back. The hotel is nice and quiet, and the staff is very friendly and attentive. I was a little worried about noise from the Sandals resort’s night time parties, but they seemed to quiet down by 10:00 pm, so it wasn’t a problem. The Calabash restaurant was great for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so good that we spent two days there and never left the hotel. (Service at the restaurant could be a little slow, especially at lunch, but remember that you’re in the Carribean.) We booked massages at the Karma spa, and the therapists there were awesome. Getting around the island is easy, as most tour operators will pick up up (for a fee) or you can easily get a taxi out front. Probably don’t need to schedule the pick-up from the airport as there are plenty of taxis there that will charge you a little less, but for a little extra it was nice to have a guy standing there with your name on a sign so you know you’re in the right spot when you arrive. Would highly recommend the Bougainvillea if you’re looking for a quiet Barbados vacation.

Another stunning day at the absolutely fabulous Barbados Bougainvillea hotel. After breakfast, started the day utilising the very well appointed Gym, while my Wife enjoyed a great seventy five minute full body, hot stone massage, which she absolutely loved. Then headed down to the beautiful white sand beach to join Chris and Michael from the hotels Sports Team, where after Michael launched us off, Chris proceeded to skim us across the waves, with purpose and pace. Chris has been sailing for over 15 years, and you can tell by how easily, and proficiently he managed the catamaran, that he’s a true professional, who clearly loves what he does. Having rapidly taken us so far out, that we could see the entire coast line, Chris then pointed out the shoals of Flying Fish, which with their 100 metre flights through the air, was truly an incredible sight to see. Turning back to land, we laughed our heads off, as we got soaked and Chris carefully, and expertly, rocketed us back to shore, where Michael was waiting to safely bring us home. This was great fun, and very special indeed. We watched for the rest of the day, as Michael and Chris loaded party after party onto the catamaran, and every time, you could see the excitement and joy, as they returned laughing and exhilarated, back to the beach. Michael and Chris work incredibly hard every day, not just on the catamaran, but as part of the hotels Sports Team, to make sure your stay is the absolute best it can be, and always with huge smiles plus genuine, friendly “can do” attitudes. This is our second stay at the Bougainvillea. We love it here, and with the likes of Chris, Michael and the entire Team here, doing what they do so brilliantly well, and working so incredibly hard to make your stay the best it can be; we’ll be back next year for more.

We went for our 20th anniversary and we had an awesome time! The staff was very hospitable, knowledgeable and helpful. Also, the bars were awesome. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. Also the water sports staff were very accommodating and didn’t hesitate to rearrange activities around our schedule. Kudos to Chris, Rishard, Vivian and the entire wait, front desk and security staff. We recommend this property to all!

Overall we had a really nice time at this hotel and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet and comfortable beach break. Despite a disappointing start with a poor check in experience, we did find that most staff were friendly and happy to help, and everyone was very hard working. We had a junior suite, which was very spacious and comfortable. We were a little surprised that the room had no welcome pack/ information about the hotel, so we wished we'd asked more questions at the front desk when we checked in, as we missed out on a number of things till later in the stay. Fortunately there were a number of guests who owned timeshares at this hotel so they were able to give us information about the area and the hotel. What we really liked about this hotel was that it felt quite small and intimate so you could easily strike up conversations with people by the pool. As others have said, the grounds are immaculate and the beach is beautiful, so if this is your reason for visiting, this hotel won't disappoint.

We absolutely loved our stay at Bougainville Hotel. The hotel is beautiful and the staff are so lovely. We stayed with our 1 year old son and they are very accommodating. There’s a kids pool & children’s play area. The main thing that makes this place so special is the staff. The cleaners loved our son and would all come running to see him. Security always gave him high fives and everyone had a smile. Would highly recommended as a family stay with younger children

Beautiful beachfront hotel. Only room available for just me and my husband was a 2 bedroom oceanfront suite that was wonderful. (2 huge balconies). Lovely pool, beach, happy hour, music in the evening. We walked or took cab to St Lawrence Gap which had restaurants, bars, etc. Conciege set up a snorkel trip, and we hired a taxi at hotel for a tour of the island. (Cab driver Trevor). Also enjoyed Harrisons Cave. Went over to Savvy Beach via cab for the calm beach for one day. (rented chair, umbrella and food trucks there). Only thing that I missed was coffee in my room!

We had a delightful time at Bougainvillea. All the staff were friendly and carried out their duties with skill and efficiency. The ground floor junior suite was very comfortable and cleaned daily. Food and drink were great quality and the beach was paradise. Many of the people we met were repeat visitors which shows how well the hotel is run. Hats off to all the wonderful folk at Bougainvillea, we certainly would recommend them to our friends and hope to return ourselves. A special shout out to Gregory at the Bar!

What a great way to avoid the February weather - this is our second visit to this hotel - something we wouldn't normally do. The site is lovely with all rooms overlooking the pool and gardens with the beach at the end of the gardens. The staff are all cheerful and ready to anwer any questions you may have, help with taxis, change for the bus and loads of other things. During the day the pool bar serves all the usual cocktails etc but the best drink we found was the Bajan Lemonade - very refreshing and always freshly made. Our room was spotless - and I think they all have kitchens which gives more freedom in relation to eating options - although there are so many good restaurants locally its difficult to decide what to do. As a point to note if you are going to do some self-catering the Massey supermarket chain will deliver an order to the hotel - and the porter took it to our room and unpacked it before we arrived - see Massey website which can be accessed from UK. The local Massey supermarket is about 20 minutes away - which makes it a long hot walk to stock up. Be warned though, things are getting expensive as the Barbadian dollar is linked to US dollar - so prices are much higher than they were last time we went 3 years ago. If you get a change try the Spa - best hot stone massage I think I have ever had. Not sure if we will be going for a third time but plenty of people we met there go every year.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at this beautiful hotel. The whole experience was a delight from the front desk, the water sports guys, Chris & Rodrick particularly and the bar staff, Sonjia, Gregory, Vivian and Jose. The rooms were spotless, bright and comfortable and we had been allocated a plunge pool room which was just perfect. We throughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to everyone. We cannot wait to return, hopefully next year!

There are always pros and cons to any resort and I plan on explaining what I discovered while at this resort. First of all, Barbados itself is an amazing island, we will definitely be back. The people are very nice, the whole vibe felt safe and that is something very important to us. The resort itself is also beautiful, nestled on the beautiful beach at Christ Church. The rooms are clean, the resort is clean, it is slightly outdated but that isn't a huge issue. It is a small resort which we love. We are not into the massive resorts where it takes a long time to get to the beach etc. There were always plenty of chairs, the staff always willing to put up umbrellas etc if needed. The two restaurants on the resort had good food, we ate at both of them a lot. What we saw and apparently other people have seen who have reviewed is that the service is hit or miss. The food is worth the wait if you just want to hang out at the resort and not go out. I have a feeling but I am not sure that this resort has taken some hits due to Covid. Perhaps they are tightening their purse strings but it is noticeable. I met several couples there who have been many many years in a row and love it and they say the service has gone down and there were a lot of activities back in the day. In spite of that, they say they will keep coming as they have tried other resorts and they aren't as good. Personally, I would have liked some yoga classes and or pool aerobics etc. If these things were offered, there was nothing I saw posted. Regarding rooms: The resort charges a fee to use a fire stick in order to get decent cable. This feels cheap to me. Either invest in cable that works or give the fire sticks. Suggestions: get food at the grocery store as soon as you can, take a taxi or gypsy buses that go by. Walking wasn't horrible but it was difficult walking it back carrying groceries. Try Tapas and Champers as they are the best recommended restaurants, you will need to make reservations before you even get to the island. This resort is not a party resort, most of the people there were in the 50's and older. I loved that you never heard a peep late at night. I do recommend this resort but you will have to take care of yourself and that's ok too.
