We stayed for a week in mid-January and had a wonderful experience all around at The Bonairian. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, and Carlos accommodated my vegan diet by making me special meals throughout the week!! The food was delicious and the views were spectacular. The pilates class right outside our door was so convenient! It’s not a dive resort, but the private beach on-site is an easy entry for shore dives, so we used it a bunch and stored our equipment right on site, no worries! It’s location was very easy to get to, very close to the airport, with ample parking. The pool was so refreshing after each dive, and everything is so clean and inviting overall. It also was very quiet as they only have 8 rooms. We plan on staying there on future trips, for sure!!

Only stayed one night but it was the perfect start to our vacation on Bonaire. We had an AirB&B starting the next day so we spent our first night at The Bonarian. We figured it was close to the airport so it would make it easy and while that is definitely true. We discovered a wonderful place. This is a small resort but truly special. We were warmly greeted by Brian at the front desk and he showed us the resort, and how to access everything in our room. He also helps out serving at the bar and the restaurant so we got to see his helpful self quite a bit. The room was clean, comfortable, and right on the waterfront. While the location, right near the airport might put some people off, it's important to remember that Bonaire does not have a lot of aircraft coming and going. For me, watching the few planes come in was actually a plus and nothing comes in at crazy hours of the night or early morning.
Dinner here is something to seek out even if you're not staying there. Chef Carlos, also the manager, puts on a great dinner. Nicely prepared, well seasoned, and well assembled flavors.
The resort has some lovely cabanas we lounged in, a small pool that looks right out on the ocean, steps to the ocean if you want to dive or snorkel, a bar, and there's probably more to learn about the Bonarian but in our one night that's what we enjoyed.
Most important part is that you are made to feel special, welcomed, and appreciated. That's so rare these days. OH! and there are some wonderful iguanas that lounge on the deck and are very used to people, though we chose not to try to pet them.

we stayed for three nights. It is very small - like 8 rooms. Our room was right at the beach so you cannot ask for a better view!
The manager tried very hard to please and was very pleasant.
The room was comfortable but small. The AC was GREAT!
This hotel is near the airport which means you do get some of the air traffic. However, if you are looking for a smaller and more intimate resort, this is a worthwhile tradeoff.

Gorgeous views of the sea across to Klein Bonaire and along the whole coast of Bonaire. The waterfront location is really special with its beach and deck areas. It's a handy location near the airport, town, Lac Bay and southern dive sites. Rooms and bathrooms are modern and stylish. Friendly and helpful staff run the hotel and restaurant. It was perfect for my short stay. Recommended!

Love love love this little boutique hotel. It is set up like a Villa with 8 total rooms so it was just right for my party of 6. Breakfast was served daily by our accommodations Host/Chef. Always with fresh fruit and yogurt on the side. The views are to die for and it boasts its own private beach and swimming pool.
Definitely recommend and will return!

The Bonarian is a gem of a boutique hotel. The setting is absolutely stunning, the rooms are clean and large. Carlos is an amazing, attentive and thoughtful host! We ate several of our meals right at the hotel and enjoyed the food very much. The snorkeling was also very good. We will be back for sure!

Almost next to the airports landing strip, lies this beautiful hotel and restaurant. The few planes that land here are mostly smaller ones and were no problem for us. I even liked the few bigger ones landing so nearby. We stayed for 5 days and really loved it here. Besides the airport, the location at the waterfront is perfect; stunning sunsets over the sea and a small spot where you can walk straight into the water. Bring your snorkel-stuff! The tropical fishes are right there.
The rooms are few but nice, clean and with a nice view; we overlooked the small pool. The beds and shower are fine. Everything you expect is in the room.
Now for the restaurant: the cook Carlos is amazing. The food he prepares is allways very nice; the staff is hard working and pleasant. There is one thing though: it often takes a while to get your order. But it is worthwhile! Just sit back and enjoy the scenery.

This hotel really should be 3 or 5 stars depending on who you are. If you want to stay "in the middle of the action" or big name glitz this is not for you. As you approach the hotel it will look sort of like a long one-story house surrounded by a white wall. But if you want a quiet (despite being near the airport) small (one floor, 8 units) comfortable oceanfront place with personalized attention, this is it. Service is friendly, responsive, and informal. We are older snorkelers and did not want to stay at a diving resort. We had a rental car. The Bonairian was just about perfect for us. The guests included Dutch families, couples, divers, and snorkelers. There are various grades of rooms. The higher grades have more view and more privacy. Our room faced west with just a narrow patio between us and the ocean. We could look out floor to ceiling windows from our the couch to watch the ocean or sunset, or go outside to the small private beach or to the deck with lounge chairs, and have a meal or drink at the patio bar/restaurant, all within yards of our door.
The large room had its own quiet air conditioner with remote control thermostat and fan control, a small refrigerator, a large double closet/ drawers unit, a good shower, excellent internet, and a coffee/tea kettle with tea bags and instant coffee. The tv has many channels from a variety of places, including the US. You can check out beach towels. If you want a meal, it is cooked to order by the staff and served on the oceanside patio. We ate several meals at the hotel and liked them all, and you cannot beat the view. The Kite City and Cactus Blue food trucks are within walking distance. For other restaurants you will have to drive. You can also drive the short distance to Te Amo beach, drift snorkel down to the hotel, going through two official snorkel areas, get out at the little beach, go to the room and shower and change, and walk back up to Kite City to eat and get your car.
You will probably need a rental car or truck if you stay at the Bonairian. It is 10 or 15 minutes door to door to downtown, or Lac, or the grocery store. Many snorkel and dive spots are farther, to the ends of the island, as are many of the sights. However, Bonaire is a small place, and the traffic is slow, making for relatively relaxing driving.
Americans will find some things a little different. There are European outlets, so bring an adapter; there is only liquid soap/body wash in the bathroom, no shampoo/conditioner (bring or buy at stores); and there is an instant water heater in the shower with switches that you need to turn on if you want hot water. Our air conditioner didn’t look like much but was really quite good.

We had an absolutely great long weekend here. Our room was located right next to its own private little sandy beach with Iggy the Iguana keeping guard. The room was quite small but its exactly what we needed. The air conditioning was fantastic and walking from 36 degrees into the room was an amazing feeling. I cannot sing enough praises about the hotel. There are large double beds located under shade outside overlooking the sea, they are comfy with large bean bag pillows. I lay there listening to Bob Marley and I was in heaven. The restaurant is open plan with great views of the sea. the food was good and the service better. The bar was excellent and the ice was free flowing. The owner was a really nice guy. The hotel is in a great location. I loved it here and will return. Gets a rare excellent from me.

Nice hotel, helpful staff, you can practically step out of your room and start snorkeling. Would have been a five star experience, but there was no place to leave your swimwear and towel to dry. You need a car to go to Kralendijk and see around Bonaire.

Binghamton, New York, United States33 contributions14 helpful votesHello,
I am deciding between your hotel and the Divi Flamingo. I am planning a 5-7 night trip with my daughter. We love the water but we also enjoy exploring the local area. Why should we choose your hotel rather than the Divi Flamingo? I do appreciate your time in helping us make this choice! Thank you, Cathy
