Detailed Reviews
The Lizard Inn was sold recently, and the new management indicated they envision it becoming a restaurant. It is no longer owned or managed by Renee.
The comfortable couches have been moved out from under the pergola and grouped into multiple individual seating areas. The result inhibits the guest interactions that used to make the Lizard Inn a very friendly place to stay Furthermore, the exposed seats are wet after any one of the nearly daily rain showers.
My room no longer had a table on which to set a laptop computer, a deficiency in today's remote work environment. There is a table with chairs under the pergola, but plugging in a power cord would involve string a trip hazard wire from an outlet on one of the supporting poles.
My room had only one 220 V outlet for three appliances: a table lamp, a hot water pot and a coffee maker. I don't feel safe unplugging and plugging in power cords when I'm bare foot. In particular, as you have to unplug the sole table lamp to connect the coffee maker, the absence of lighting made reconnecting things difficult. When I have stayed at the Lizard Inn in the past, I've borrowed an extra lamp from Renee; none was offered this time. More lighting is needed as there is little light coming in through the window even during the day.
For those that are scuba divers or windsurfers, there is no longer a special room for washing and securing your gear. Gear can still be washed in sink by the laundry. Unlike prior years, the front gate was not always kept locked when the office was unoccupied.
In praise of the Lizard Inn, (1) I found the housekeeping to be exceptional; the room was cleaned daily and there were no bugs. (2) my room rate, unchanged from prior years, was a bargain.

We were in Bonaire for 11 days of diving vacation. We choose lizard inn because it has all you need: spacious studio with kitchen, daily room service, storage room for washing and drying your diving gear, parking onsite, walking distance from the center of Kralendijk for an evening stroll and all dining options, a pool for a moment of relax between dives…. and possibly more than we expected. Renee, the guest, is nice and friendly and always available for any needs. And excellent quality-price ratio.

Rene's place is very quiet with relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are clean, comfortable and well-equipped with a comfortable bed, air conditioning, a refrigerator and hot water pot. The central lounge area, a big palapa, is great for relaxing with couches, tables and hammocks. The shared kitchen is available to make your meals if desired. The pool is great for dips to cool off or lounging. Housekeeping did an excellent job at keeping my room clean and stocked with coffee. The grocery store is a short walk away. The beach is a short walk away. Rene is a great guy, very helpful, informative, professional and caring, he truly wants your stay to be the best. I would not hesitate to recommend. I was missing Bonaire and the Lizard Inn before I even left the island and I can't wait to return. Thank you Rene for making my short time there so wonderful and I will return soon.

We went to Bonaire for our honey moon. We choose The Lizard because it was close to town and it was less expensive than other options. It was clean and quiet. It had a great kitchen for if you wanted to prepare your own food. He also had lots of snorkeling equipment for free. And it had a very relzxing central courtyard.
Strong recommendation.

Stayed here over the xmas and ny period and had an awesome time! Rene is a fantastic host - told me everything there is to do on the island and we even went diving together for an afternoon. Lizard Inn has a really nice sociable atmosphere with spacious communal area for drinks with the other guests. Also a communal kitchen and grill if you want to cook your own food. Rooms are spacious and get cleaned every day. Beds comfortable. And superb value for money! I will definitely stay here again next time in Bonaire!

The Lizard Inn is a very clean and tidy place. Renee, the owner, is there to greet you and offers many niceties...beer, pop, coffee, towels, snorkel gear and other things you don't need to shop for.
The place has a wall and locked gate so you feel safe. The room is cleaned daily. The tv has many channels including major US channels.
Rene is very helpful about advising restaurants and activities. The price is very reasonable...just a great stay.

Rene cordially welcomed us to the establishment.
Clean rooms with own bathroom.
Even got a welcome drink.
Didn’t get a chance to try the pool as the beautiful bonaire sea was more inviting but this place is great for a (couples) weekend away. The minimum, but what else do you need when you are im diver’s paradise.

Basic small inn, pool not available and in a neighborhood away from the water. We had a conflict over the rate they were charging versus what we were quoted via email and they tried to charge a surcharge to use our credit card. Instead of trying to resolve it, Rene became enraged and told us to leave with 2 nights to go for our vacation. It was the most pathetic excuse for customer service I've ever seen on 4 continents and the only bad review I've ever left. It was not disclosed in advance. It's against Visa/Mastercard/Amex agreements to not penalize any user for using a credit card let alone unethical and stealing. It occurred late after a long day of diving after most places were closed and the rest not available so we couldn't find a room for that night. The conflict with my wife over it was the icing. Don't stay here, you can't trust them and it's not worth the aggravation.

The owner of this hotel do not know how to treat clients. He really need to go back to school.
Having a nice hotel is not the only thing, if you don't know how to treat your guess in a proper manner, you better close this hotel. Knowing how to do it you are making good advertising without paying anything. Bad advertising (not knowing how to deal with guess) means NO one will come to your hotel.I do not recommend any body to this hotel.

The Lizard Inn's property is fine. A simple budget place--exactly what a lot of people are looking for. Aside from very hard beds, it's fine.
Our problem was Rene the owner. He was quite curt in an email exchange, and then downright weird on a few occasions during our stay. He snapped at us for leaving two beer bottles in the picnic area, explaining to us where the recycle bin is, and he also tied up our first 20 minutes at the resort telling us how he pays the electric bill and wants us to keep the a/c down and not use too much hot water.
Just too much odd stuff going on with Rene. We won't return to the Lizard Inn.
