BUYER BEWARE! It is listed as a 4-star hotel, but a far cry from a traditional 4-star hotel. I traveled to Havana with a group of friends (5 total). I actually selected the hotel based on the ratings on TripAdvisor and wi-fi availability. Some of us required some accessibility to the internet while traveling for work purposes. The rooms were...

A group of nine stayed at the Presidente for two nights, at the beginning our Cuba tour. I enjoyed the live music at night, the breakfast buffet was amazing. The staff was very nice and accommodating. On our first night we wanted to go out to dinner, Daniel recommended Porto Habana, excellent choice, and within walking distance from the hotel....

This hotel does it's best. We booked B&B in the hotel. The rooms (we were in 2 of them) are in great need of upgrade. The view from the 1st room was of very poor people living in broken down slum buildings. We felt so sad for them. The shower didn't work & the fridge door didn't close properly. The toilet...

Rated it 4 stars based upon Cuban standards. Once an old grande damn - but definitely showing its age. Room was clean upon arrival. Lily, our chambermaid, was a delight but not everything was cleaned everyday as you would expect at most higher-end hotels. All of the staff (except at breakfast) were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was surprisingly...

This hotel is located in a quite area 15 mins from old Havana. The hotel itself needs an overall upgrade on the interior. There is no free Wi-Fi, you will need to purchase a Wi-Fi card. The food and service is mediocre. I think being from the US I am just not custom to their level of customer service. Also...

We stayed there at the start and end of a pre-arranged tour. Classic older hotel with a few kinks in the well worn structure. 6 people plus luggage overloaded the elevator (posted limit was 10) and put it out of commission for the rest of the evening. The toilet stool in our room the 1st night leaked just enough to...

Hotel Roc Presidente was a great stay in that part of the city. It is not far from the walk along the water(The Malecon), within walking distance of the jazz clubs and nightlife, and a short taxi ride ($8-10) from Old Havana. Rooms were clean and in good shape all things considered. We had two different stays in our week...

We stayed here whilst on the Classic Cuba Tour for 3 nights. There were 12 in our group. Lovely period hotel dating back to the late 1920's I believe. The public areas are very classy, clean & art deco in style. There is a WiFi area in the lobby & outside seating areas, a pleasant place to sit & listen...

The hotel is located in a relatively quiet area 2min away from the Malecon, but 5 km away from the Old Town. Unfriendly service at the front desk and in the bar, where only half the personnel speaks English. Could look charming once renovated- I have never seen a bathroom ceiling and faucets looking so worn out anywhere in the...

Hotel Roc Presidente is a historic 4 star hotel in Havana, located 200 metres away from the Malecón, 3 km away from the heart of the old La Habana, historic centre of the capital of Cuba. Hotel Roc Presidente has been refurbished in 2011, older but has a luxury character. The impressive building, which was built between 1925 and 1927, has been the first...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The ROC-Hotels Presidente **** is located just 3 kms from the old historical part of Havana, "La Havana Vieja", a twenty minutes drive from the Jose Marti International Airport. It is only 20 minutes from the East Side beaches and 200 meters from the renowned Amadeo Roldan Theatre. Located in El Vedado, only 200 meters from the famous Pier of Havana, "el Malecon", on the Avenue of the Presidents, and flanked by the Cuban Foreign Office and the "Casa de las Americas", the Hotel Presidente rises gracefully with its 10 floors of history and in its peculiar colours of vermilion. The Roc-Hotels Presidente characterises itself for being housed in a spectacular building from the 1920's, being the first skyscraper in the city of Havana, and for its breathtaking interiors representing the era it was built in, but with all its modern comfort and services that the client seeks. The Hotel was reformed in 2011 following a clear luxury style and keeping all the grandeur of its recent history that included many famous personalities of diplomacy and business companies, as well as the art world. It is for this reason that an exquisite care was taken to preserve every detail during its restoration and decoration. Throughout the interior of the Hotel, displayed are more than 400 classified pieces of art, giving a very unique taste to the guests from the moment of their arrival. They can enjoy the "Lobby Museum", relax by the poolside, or go on interesting excursions to Pinar del Rio, Varadero, Santa Maria del Mar or other famous sites nearby. We offer bed and breakfast (CP board), breakfast and dinner ( Half board). We have WIFI in all rooms and all service areas. ... more   less
