We spent four nights here at the beginning of our holiday and one night at the end. The hotel is architecturally stunning (a converted textile warehouse) and in an excellent location for Havana Vieja, with most Old Town attractions, restaurants etc within walking distance. There's a roof terrace bar, with great views of Havana. The staff were friendly and helpful,...

We had four days here at the start of a tour. The hotel is very attractive, very art deco with a beautifully decorated glass ceiling. The room was comfortable, two beds pushed together, decent air conditioning, huge louver doors onto a small balcony and a clean room. There is a lift up to the roof but it is temperamental. The position...

Summary (details below): rather overpriced, "4 star" hotel which in reality amounts to 2 stars at best. Standards have clearly crumbled; former glory has slid into what can only be described as a tourist trap. Keep your money for a nice "casa particular" instead. Details - pros: good location, impressive historical marble lobby, nice roof terrace, good-sized rooms. Cons: check-in...

This hotel is beautiful and very well preserved in Art Deco fashion. Our room was on the third floor but right next to the roof terrace bar which was quite noisy. This also meant that we could not open our shutters for reasons of privacy leaving our room very dark and having to keep the light on. However, the bar...

It should have been a fantastic Hotel but it just wasn't, the decor was art deco and very historic but rooms very tired and not well appointed. The reception when we arrived in the evening was less than friendly or helpful and breakfast terrible. Our toilet door did not close and the room needed a makeover. So we changed hotels...

Hotel centrally located in old Havana, and whilst boasts a certain degree of charm the hotel rooms were old and tired and in need of some TLC. The atrium however was beautifully decorated. The breakfast was limited and very dissapointing.

We did not stay here but we did visit the lobby at this beautiful art deco building in the middle of Old Havana. The lobby had a magnificent stained glass ceiling. It also exhibited an actual Jerusalem rock with a menorah. There is also a small Judaica gift shop in the lobby. We wanted to try the restaurant Jardín de...

When we first started talking about our Cuba holidays, we were sceptical of the casa particulares - but seeing that hotels in Cuba are very expensive on the one hand, but very run down on the other hand, we decided to stay at casas during most of our trip. One of two exceptions was the Raquel in Havana. And what...

This hotel is well located in the old town and within walking distance of many interesting sites. It's appeal is it's simplicity and the many old features - stained glass, an ageing 'cage' elevator, marble floors etc. My room had no windows, a 60watt bulb, quite warm water from the shower (never hot) and old (comfortable) beds, with a hardwood...
