Had a great time. CUBA Is beautiful and Sol Palmeras is great. We were there in Aug and had a great time.Wanita at the front desk was so helpful and kind she is the got at Front desk. Yunisleydis is a waitress at the buffet she was great. Always had a table ready for me and my family. Felix and Jorge are also fantastic friendly and kind bar staff. The staff over all was great and the food was good. They are limited resources in Cuba but there was enough choices daily. I would highly recommend this place if you like a nice family place in Cuba. Water is beautiful and the entertainment staff is okay Rooms are okay for the amount of time in there. Will be going back for sure.

I spent ten days at Sol Palmeras at the beginning of September and had a wonderful time. Have been to Cuba almost every year for the past 12 years and Sol Palmeras is now my favourite resort. The customer service is responsive and friendly, the atmosphere around the hotel nice and relaxed, and the food adequate. Some reviewers wrote that the food was the same every day but, in my experience, there was some variation from one day to another in the cooked dishes that they served, and I found the food to be tasty. I had brought a couple of spices from home and didn’t even need to use them because I liked the taste of the food that they served at the buffet restaurant. The grilled fish and cooked fish dishes were particularly delicious; I ate fish every day and loved it. The beach at Sol Palmeras is stunning, probably the best in all of Cuba. I’m back home in Toronto and miss it already. The lack of sargassum and jelly fish and the clear, warm waters make the ocean here more swimmable than at most other beaches in the Caribbean. Another thing I love about the beach at this hotel is that there is a good distance between the umbrellas on the beach, which makes the beach experience more private and personal. Appreciated the spaciousness and extra privacy built into the umbrellas’ setup at this beach, as privacy was among the things I was looking for on this vacation. I recommend Sol Palmeras for a fun, relaxing beach holiday and I myself plan to return next year.

The entertainment and staff are the best in all of cuba. Me and my family all had the best holiday of our lives. But we particularly loved Leidis, she was amazing. She looked after our family so well, and kept us constantly entertained, from giving us top of the range tourist advice, to dancing, to Zumba, to stretching classes in the sea, I cannot recommend coming here any more. Honestly, it was 10/10 the whole holiday. Come to Sol Palmeras!!!! 🌴🌴🌴 Ps this is the best beach on all of Varadero (and Cuba!)

Me and my boyfriend went there in July for 10 days. It was amazing!!! I definitely recommend to all groups (couples/family’s etc) Rooms - very spacious, had everything we needed, including an iron & ironing board. They supply an umbrella in the rooms for really hot weather! Overall a lovely room. Food - there was a good variety of food. In the buffet you can get freshly cooked eggs & meats/fish everyday. They have a variety of restaurants which were nice (but pretty much the same food from the buffet), a little FYI you only have a choice of two restaurants each day and they sell out quick, so I would recommend booking in a restaurant in the morning - but the buffet runs every evening also. The best part was that they supply a beach bbq everyday at lunch time!!! It was so yummy, especially set on a gorgeous Cuban beach. Hotel - we stayed in the hotel itself and not the bungalows. Gorgeous decor, very open and tall, easily set out. The pool is good with a pool bar at the centre. The beach was the hotels back garden, UNREAL. I will never forget how beautiful it is. Entertainment - amazing!!!!! The reps are incredible!!! They definitely made out experience a lot better. Some sort of game/activity happened everyday with a prize (mainly a whole bottle of Havana rum). They put on shows in the evening which we didn’t go and see as it was mainly for children but apparently still really good. They had singers and musicians in the bar/lobby every evening. We went to beach partys & they put on a water show. Activities outside the hotel - we went on a catamaran boat trip and swam with dolphins!!!! 100% do this if you’re interested. We had lunch on a deserted island (a whole lobster to myself) it was just incredible. We also went on a journey in the city of Havana in an 1952 Chevrolet - again amazing. Improvements: not much tbh, the only reason I wouldn’t give it 5 starts is on some occasions the food in the buffet was a little cold, it was extremely hot in the main bar area in the evenings as they didn’t put the AC on as it wasn’t their prime time for summer yet. But honestly that’s it, it’s really hard for us to fault it. Amazing trip.

Overall a great hotel, we stayed in the bungalows about a 5-8 min walk to the resort amenities and about 2 minutes away from the beach which was the central amenity for our stay. The staff was amazingly nice and friendly Our maid Beatrice was really nice and was truly amazing throughout our stay. The buffet food gets repetitive and it's best to go early for all meals as they run out of popular food early, the restaurants on the resort were booked out by the time we got there which sucked. The entertainment was nice however was mostly in Spanish so at times it could be a bit confusing if you do not speak the language. The beach was amazing with clean water, and clean sand if you're looking for a more empty section I recommend going down to where the bungalows are as it is less crowded. the bungalows have no internet only on the main resort, a few of apps are blocked so be mindful of that before you travel. All in all, a great time and would recommend this hotel to others.

This was my 5th time in Cuba, and 3rd time in Varadero. Let me start out by saying, I know that when you come to Cuba, you are coming for the beautiful beaches, and this did not disappoint. I also know that there is a food shortage (worst in 20 years), so that should be taken into account when reading this review, which will be totally honest. Came here for a mother/daughter trip for 1 week. Hotel- The hotel itself was clean enough. You can tell some areas are outdated and need improvements. Common washrooms were kept clean. Room- We were placed in an updated room on the 1st floor with a cute patio and a private balcony area where you could walk out to the beach. However, within an hour, we noticed the room was infested with little lizards. Most of them were on the ceiling where we could not reach them to try and get them out of the room. We went to the front desk to have our room switched, and were moved to the 3rd floor. This room was not considered a modern, updated room. But it was clean and lizard-free. There was a day or 2 where there was a strong sewage odour in the room. I also noticed that the lizards were also on the 3rd floor and would run under the cracks of doors to hotel rooms as you walk down the halls- just something to be aware of. We started putting towels at the bottom of our hotel room, just in case. We also heard many guests complaining of ant infestations in their rooms. Beach- Beautiful. White sand, crystal clear water. Little fish swimming. Definitely a few jellyfish- be cautious. My mom would go early (around 7:30 am) to place our towels on the loungers, which fill up quickly. Drinks- Okay. There were days where there was no mint at all and therefore, no mojitos. Found the other drinks overly sweet. Food- Buffet food was okay and you won't go hungry. That being said, I stuck with eating rice and pizza everyday when we went to the buffet for dinner. The lunch and dinner buffet are essentially the exact same food. Would recommend grabbing a bite to eat at the beach, where they serve sandwiches and fries. There is also usually a paella type outdoor cookout near the pool around 1:30 pm (pretty good as well). My favourite was probably breakfast. I would have pancakes with honey, fresh bananas, bread with cheese and cucumbers everyday. We would go to the lobby afterwards for a cappuccino before heading to the beach. A la Carte- You can only book 1 restaurant a day. We had to line up at 7:30 am to book, and the line was very long. As a result, we only got to enjoy the Chinese and Italian restaurants. The Chinese one was very good- we went twice. Ordered fried shrimp as an appetizer, fried rice to share, and chicken balls (called skewers on the menu for some reason). Enjoyed fried bananas with ice cream for dessert. The Italian restaurant was not good. They serve bruschetta, which was bread with tomato sauce (no actual tomatoes). The pizza was okay. Lasagna wasn't good. They do serve good bread with olive oil balsamic here. I've noticed that when you are given your menu, the server will say "We don't have this, and instead of this, we have...". Seems to be a common theme at the a-la-carte. The only one I would recommend is the Chinese. Entertainment- There is something going on everyday. The beach party was ok. Live singer(s) in the lobby til about 9:30 every night. Service- Okay. Some of the staff seemed unapproachable or like you were bothering them if you asked for something. Definitely not as friendly as staff in other parts of Cuba. We tipped everywhere we went, so not sure why this was the vibe. WiFi- Strongest Wi-Fi was surprisingly at the beach. No Wi-Fi in the hotel rooms. Lobby has Wi-Fi, but would be very slow in the evenings (when everyone would be on it) Overall, would come back, but would definitely lower my expectations for the food. Tips: - We made little packages to leave for the maids. We heard that there is a need for white socks for children (they need these for school), medicine, and school supplies, so this is something to think about. The maids are very appreciative of these little packages and share amongst each other. - Tip in Canadian dollars. - We did one excursion (Catamaran trip to Cayo Blanco). It was fun, but in my opinion, I would have been okay with just staying at the hotel beach. It cost $75 USD. They told us there would be a lobster lunch included, but this ended up being extra ($15 CDN, paid in cash, once on catamaran). They also sell drinks in coconuts once you are at Cayo Blanco. The bus ride from the hotel to the marina is only about 5 minutes. You are on the catamaran for about 1.5 hours to get to Cayo Blanco, with a 20 minute stop for snorkelling. The time on the island is about 3 hours, with a seafood/rice lunch included. Drinks are also included on the island and on the catamaran. Just something to keep in mind if you want to get off the resort for the day! You can also book this tour with the swimming-with-dolphins package. Not sure how much extra this is. - Avoid booking with SunWining. We heard many guests complaining of delayed flights. - If you need to extend your room beyond the 12 pm check out (for later flights), it is $15 CDN per hour extra.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 8 days. As soon as we got here the staff working at front desk were showing us a great deal of attitude and were not friendly at all. Everyone is very miserable with the exception of a few. Almost all staff members were not helpful, they do not want to answer questions, they don’t even acknowledge you when standing in front of them; at times my husband and I felt like we were ghosts. We felt this way especially from the staff working at Bar Cubitas - from the lady especially. They always ignored us and didn’t want to serve us and we even tipped all the time!! We do not understand how employees at this hotel can treat their guests with such disrespect. The only nice person working at that bar is Raime; he was always so kind and always made sure we were taken care of. This hotel is also VERY dirty!! Upon arrival we saw a plastic cup with garbage in it and throughout our entire stay not one staff member cleaned it up. Additionally someone had dropped a plate of pasta on the floor by the stairs, the pasta itself was cleaned but the sauce however was not! Even on our day of check out /departure both the sauce and the cup were still there!! Along with additional cups that were placed there. The rooms are very dated as well as the washrooms - lots of mildew. We also noticed our bed sheets were dirty and stained not to mention there were also ants in our bed and on the floor! All plates and cutlery in the buffet look dirty and disgusting and everything looks like it hasn’t been washed. The buffet also served the exact same food for lunch and dinner every single day. My husband and I felt very uncomfortable during our entire stay at this hotel and we are so disappointed. Do not waste your hard earned money at this hotel as you will be VERY disappointed. I will never return to this place again even if you paid me.

My friends and I stayed at the hotel for 7 days and booked mainly due to the reviews we read on Tripadvisor. Upon arrival, we were put into rooms that weren't what we thought we had booked as we did not see any pictures of these rooms online. Still, we didn't want to complain and did a usual inspection of the room, checked that the AC worked, running water, but when we pulled the sheets back, we noticed a bunch of ants in the bed. We had 3 rooms all on the same floor and each of us had this issue with ants in the bed. We brought this to the front desk staff's attention and they rectified the issue and put us in the upgraded rooms (which is what we thought we had initially booked) The rooms still had ants, but they were mainly on the floors and not in the bed. I found one or two in the bed but at this point we realized there wasn't much that could be done about this. Food at the buffet was good, we always were able to find something to eat, we tried the Chinese and Latino restaurants and the food was good at both as well. Staff is absolutely wonderful and makes your entire stay more enjoyable because of how helpful and kind they are. Carlos was great! and kept us entertained! We also enjoyed the beach stretching and water aerobics. The pool entertainment was great as well, kept us dancing and enjoyed our time at the pool. The singers at the bar were talented and we enjoyed the shows. Beach is absolutely stunning, no seaweed, no rocks, just clear water. Wifi is only available in the lobby, the pool area and the beach as well. Not very strong but this is expected for Cuba. Overall, we had an enjoyable trip.

I have been to Sol Palmeras over a dozen times and this hotel never disappoints me. The reason I keep coming back? The staff!!. They are the most caring and warm people you will meet. The food is good, the rooms clean and updated and the best beach on the Varadero strip. Entertainment staff are the best. Whether it is the kids club, sports, aqua gym, evening dance party or disco. The Entertainment group is amazing! Highly recommend this hotel.
