Appreciate the availability of an Adults Only resort. Rooms were good and well maintained. We paid a small amount for an upgrade and our room included a small sitting room. Shared with my sister so it was nice to have the extra space.

Food was typical of an all inclusive. Got tired of the buffet by mid week. The al a carte restaurants were very good - Italian and Cuban. Enjoyed the burgers at the Beach Bar. Tip from people in my group that enjoy all inclusives regularly - bring an insulated mug/cup for your drinks. Allows you to keep your drinks cold longer and get bigger servings vs the small plastic cups used at most bars.

Pool area was well kept. The resort was not very full so always were able to get loungers around the pool. The ladder at the far end of the pool was blocked from use as it had become detached from the pool at the bottom. Just meant you had to get in and exit from the other end or pull yourself over the edge - no biggie.

Four of our group golfed 3 times. Golf course is across the road from the resort.

Staff were very good.

Just arrived back from a 33 day stay at Los Cactus. We had a wonderful vacation. When going to Cuba, you must learn to be flexible and know that the management does its best to accommodate all guests. The food at breakfast and lunch was good. Eggs omelettes, pancakes, cold cuts, cheese, fresh pastries, yogurt and an assortment of fruit. I was very impressed with the salad bar at lunch containing a large variety of veggies. The bread at the resort is always delicious! At lunch they also served fish, pork chops, chicken and yes the much talked about liver. I don’t know what the fuss was since there were always other options! Cuba day’s food was the best it had been in years and the specialty restaurants were great. There are some supply issues happening now but when the goods are available the hotel provides them. I suggest if there is a certain Vodka or wine you like buy it at duty free to avoid disappointment. To my delight the Duna bar is open with the best bartender Orestes serving everyone with his friendly professionalism. The beach, the sunshine, the safety, this hotel provides it definitely worth a visit. A great value for the money. If you only focus on the negative, you will miss out on all the charm and friendliness of this gem! Maid service was excellent. Leteica our favourite maid always went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Mabel still serving the best special coffees at night. Lizbeth, Tania, Alex,Miguel, Arturo, Rey, I’m sorry I cannot name all the staff who made our stay so special. To all the staff ( our friends) THANK YOU!!!!!
We surely will be back!

This was our 4th visit to this resort. We keep coming back because of the staff, the beaches and the people we've met here. I can also say that our four visits pales in comparison to the number of people whose visits are well into double digits. Over the course of the 10 days we visited, we heard lots of comments on ways the resort is cutting costs without reducing the price. Some of the observations were that there are no tablecloths in the buffet anymore, fewer musicians walking around, empty/cold hot tubs, the number of times the resort ran out of things for the all inclusive, but offered guests the opportunity to purchase these items, for an extra cost (wine, Sprite), and charging 2 CUC a day for a room safe. You could see that this was not comfortable for the staff who work incredibly hard and take the brunt of the complaints (when clearly this is a decision from someone much higher up the pay grid). This place is so beautiful and the staff are wonderful, you have an incredibly loyal number of "repeaters", ourselves included, but they seem to be feeling some discontent.

Dear Lauren, On behalf of the management and the staff we thank you for your loyalty to our resort and for giving us your feedback. In this period we experienced some challeges with certain supplies that are not available in the local market. Instead of cutting the budget the resort purchased some products such as wine, paying twice the price sometimes, to ensure the guest receive the service. Our resort is alling to the programs to protect the enviroment thats why paper sets are use at breakfast and lunch instead of tablecloth which cleaning demands a high consumtion of water and power. The sale of some imported drinks and lobster is a normal practice in all the resort in destination. It is a policy of Be Live Company to charge the clients for the use of the safe, we really sorry for the inconvieniences that this may cause you. We regret that we didnot have the opportunity to answet your concerns during your stay. Our staff will continue doing their very best to make of your stay a lovely experience. Sincererly, The Management

Two years ago in March 2018 we stayed at the Los Cactus, had an excellent experience, had great food with a wide selection. At that time we had vowed to return.
Lets keep In mind April 2018 Be Live company took over and some key employees have left.
On our arrival, 11PM we asked for an upgraded room at an extra cost the room given to us was dingy, dirty and dim, not many lights worked.
This year the food was horrible and we spoke to many who got sick including my husband. At the buffet the some cold food was not kept on ice such as shrimp and unless eating from the grill the hot food was not. Myself I never get anything no matter where I travel (45 years)... not this year and I suspect the burger replacement they were serving at the beach BBQ, that everyone raved about, was the culprit any other time they are great if the meat is reddish and hard those are the ones to avoid.
The only public washroom with hand soap was in the lobby. Using the facilities of the beach and dining room I encountered 2 servers using the washroom and no soap to wash hands. Not once anywhere did I smell some type of cleaning solution (in any bathroom not even in our room) and witnessed only water being used on rags.
The beach was beautiful but unkept.
The whole place has gone downhill.
It used to be a solid 4 advertised as a 3.5...I would now rate at 1.5
Will definitely go elsewhere in April 2020.

The hotel holds the certificate to operate issued by the Minister of Health, and is inspected monthly by the local authorities and periodically by the international touroperators. We will keep working hard to raise up the quality of our product and we hope we can restore your confidence in our hotel. Sincerely, The Management

If you like liver or pork for ever dinner meal, and if they haven't run out of white or red wine. (but you could buy it at their store). They even ran out of Vodka and Rum one day, oh yes you could buy it at their store. The bar tenders would serve you once you got there attention. or if you had a tip in your hand. they wanted a tip for everything, even the cook would shove a dish with tip on it for you to give to him. The room we had had a smell of sewer gas form the bathroom till we covered it with a wet face cloth. wanted to change rooms, but for a fee of 20 cuc each we could up grade.Talk to many of others and they were of the same opinion, they would not be coming back again.

Dear Customer, On behalf of the Management and the staff, thank you for choosing our resort for your holidays and for giving us your feedback. Despite of the great effort that our purchasing department have been doing, in the last weeks, we were unable to provide some products cause were not available in destination. Due the age of property, the renovation of the faciites is a permanent item in our agenda. We renovated 5 blocks this year and expect to continue with the upgrades within the next months. The comments regarding the bar service will be discussed with the F & B Manager and some actions will be implemented to prevent recurrencies. Sincererly. The Management

Our first time trying All Inclusive & won't be our last! We had an Ocean View Suite & were really happy with it. The rooms are in small blocks rather than a high rise hotel which is what we liked. Bed very comfy, beautiful balcony but the towels & shower curtain could have been newer. Staff overall very friendly especially in the dining area, not so much on reception unfortunately or on some of the bars. You have to pay extra for a safe. Food was good for Cuba but became a little samey (if you want to try a different restaurant book when you arrive). Lots of local cats & birds join you for your meals but they're not too intrusive! Lovely beach & free sea kayaking. Good location to get bus into town (don't bother going up towards the marina end of the peninsula though). Would definitely recommend a stay here.

As a return customer we knew the staff would be friendly, beach would be great and pool is always good. You never have to worry about finding chairs at the beach or pool, there is always lots. We had paid for preferred suite with extra amenities, and the first room they gave us was like a storage space, broken couch, no lightbulbs in lights, our "ocean view" backed onto the service road (where the trucks rumbled by at 6 am) and our view was an unlandscaped area and brush. With some persistence we were moved to a better room on day two. All of Cuba is suffering from shortages on food, wine, liquor and beer - so the hotel cannot be faulted for shortages in these areas. The evening entertainment was definitely lacking, but we did enjoy the water ballet and the magician.

The resort is pretty. But needs a facelift both in the rooms and some of the staff. If you're looking for a place to party this isn't necessarily it. It's a much older crowd, the disco is open at random, and not often. The disco also resides in one of the buildings with rooms in it. It can be very loud if it does run.
Drinks seemed to be a problem at the lobby bar. They don't really know how to make drinks, and aren't usually happy they have to make it.
Make sure you don't sit in far end of the restaurant (buffet) it's no man's land. None of the servers will approach you. Make sure to sit in the middle or closer to the buffet. There are some amazing servers there. One gentleman by the end of our trip when we realized we needed to move to a center table of 6, remembered all of our drink preferences and put them on the table without question.
If you're a cat lover bring cat treats from the dollar store. There are SOoo many kitties.
Make sure to stay on the resort for Tuesday, Cuban day, it's worth the stay. There ar fresb coconuts by the beach bar and they will add rum and sugar/ice to your drink upon request. The best bar is la dunas bar, and the second best is the one by the grill and beach.
If you're picky about food this place may not be for you. We never went hungry, but you needed to be creative for meals. Cheese was always lacking. Mostly blue cheese and for tuesday-thursday there were some soft cheeses.
I suggest waiting for omelettes. They are amazing. I'm not an eggs person, especially not omelettes but these were so good. Especially with salsa on them. Or Frank's hot sauce that we brought with us.

Overall enjoyable. But needs work on staff and rooms.

I stayed at Los Cactus January 8-15, 2022 with my family and we had a wonderful time. Our rooms were very spacious and extremely clean. You could tell that it was an older resort but nothing a couple repairs and fresh coat of pain couldn't fix. The water was hot and had amazing pressure. A couple restaurants were unfortunately closed at the time, as well as the fitness facility but that is the case for many places during these times.

All of the staff at Los Cactus were so friendly and extremely helpful. The gentlemen at the front desk helped us with our every need, the bartenders made delicious drinks, and the cleaning ladies kept the surprises going with a new towel or blanket figure everyday. At the buffet area and the restaurant El Mojito the servers were very attentive to our every need.

The beach was the best part of our vacation. This was probably the best beach that I've had the pleasure of being on. There were plenty of chairs for everyone to use and the sand had no rocks at all.

Overall this was a wonderful resort to stay at and I highly recommend it.

I just returned from Los Cactus on March 24/23. The hotel is very nice looking and clean. The rooms were moderate. Comfortable beds and very roomy. There is a good size balcony and I had no issues with hot water. Beautiful beach! The pool was nice but the water was very cold as well as the hot tubs.
The buffet was repetitive. At dinner, they did serve turkey one evening, roasted chicken, and pork other evenings. I did notice that dinner was always served by the staff, which I'm going to assume was to limit food intake. One evening at dinner they did run out of clean utensils and had to scramble to get some. There were quite a few times I was overlooked when it came to service. They seemed to zero in on the larger table and ignored single tables. They serviced coffee in the morning and usually, you could only get one cup, so you would have to either go to the lobby or the coffee shop if you wanted more. My suggestion would be to have more staff serving in the buffet. Most staff was approachable and happy to serve you but some were not. Elaine, that looked after my room was amazing! She was welcoming and I enjoyed having our short conversation every day. I also can't forget to mention Hector that looks after the grounds. He also was a joy to see and always made sure to say hello or gave a big wave when we saw each other. Overall, I did enjoy my stay at Los Cactus, and thank you to all that made my vacation enjoyable!

The hotel is generally quite. We did not experience any kind of disturbance during the night and or the daytime. There is a wide variety of room selection to go for. We booked our trip via WestJet Canada. We also had two or three a la carte menus at no extra cost which you have to book in advance. Ask the reception and they will provide you a wealth of information. They also arrange day tours. You need to pay for the tours. You will definitely enjoy your stay at this hotel. Great staff and great service.

Suggest you upgrade to a gardenview suite. We had a pleasant roomy 2nd story unit with a king sized bed. As for a la carte dinner options, there is a Cuban restaurant and an Italian one you can book at least once if not more.
